Zarek bent down and picked up a folded gown from a small wooden chair nearby. The fabric looked soft and light.
He held it out to her and said, "You should wear this."
Eliora took it, still watching him suspiciously. "And I'll go with you."
She slipped the gown over her head, the soft fabric settling loosely around her body. But her brows furrowed as she looked back at him.
"Why do you want to go with me?"
Zarek picked up a long scarf from the table and handed it to her.
"Because I have to."
Eliora took the scarf.
"What do you mean you have to?"
Zarek's expression turned serious.
"We just mated. We're not supposed to be apart." He answered.
Eliora nodded slowly. That actually made sense.
From what she knew about mates, newly bonded pairs often stayed close for a while after completing the bond.
But still…something about the way he said it didn't feel like the whole truth.
