Chapter 77 - Mark's fake move

When Charlie was explaining Quidditch tactics to everyone, he kept using common terminology, such as the Eagle Head formation and the Pokov decoy. Albert only understood a little bit of what he was saying, and he had the illusion that he was listening to an English class in a past life.

However, the tactic that most interested Albert was Transylvania's feints.

I learned this term from Charlie, because he forbade Mark from using Transylvanian feints during the game.

Albert only got the answer by asking Wood, who was standing next to him.

According to Wood, Transylvanian feints are essentially pretending to hurt an opponent, such as pretending to punch someone. Whether it's punching the opponent's nose, elbowing their chest, or even poking their eye with your finger, as long as you don't actually touch the opponent, all feints are legal.

Mark's best tactic is the Transylvanian feint. Sometimes he will swing his baseball bat as if to hit someone, or strike his opponent's chest with his elbow, or even threateningly collide with his opponent while riding a broom.

Nobody knows whether Mark's next Transylvanian feint will be real or fake. After all, nobody wants to take a direct hit; it's more annoying than being targeted by a roaming ball.

After all, if you're targeted by a wandering ball, your own batter can help you; but if you're targeted by a Mark, you can only hope for the best.

This puts pressure on the opponents that Mark is targeting.

As for whether someone was actually hit?

Of course he'd be penalized for a violation. Mark's excuses are always perfectly valid: his Transylvanian feint failed, and his apology was supposedly sincere... yeah right.

Anyway, it's a violation, but it's not a serious matter. At most, the opponent gets the ball, but the player who gets an elbow or a stick hit is unlucky.

"Is it true or false?" Albert murmured.

"Haha, look, Charlie, even Albert knows the trick to Transylvanian feints, why don't you? Feints have to be a mix of real and fake, otherwise how can you scare the opponent?" Mark made an exaggerated swinging motion with his bare hand. "Now, when everyone sees me raise my bat, they'll all have to stay far away."

"Don't try to deny it. You know very well what happened last semester," Charlie warned sternly. "Anyway, you're not allowed to use Transylvanian feints in matches anymore, understand?"

"Okay," Mark said, blinking.

"What happened last year?" Albert asked curiously. The other newcomers all pricked up their ears to eavesdrop.

"Last year! Before the match against Slytherin, there was a little scuffle between the two sides off the field. As a result, Jack was unable to play, so Mark was on the field…" Danny barely managed to suppress a laugh, raised his hand and made a swinging motion, explaining in a low voice, "Well, Mark used a Transylvanian feint and knocked Slytherin's Seeker out of the field with one swing. Although he himself always claimed that it was just a tactical mistake of the Transylvanian feint, Professor Hooch, who was furious, still banned Mark from playing for a semester."

However, Slytherin ultimately lost the game because they were without their Seeker.

Later, the Slytherin students labeled Mark as insidious, but the Gryffindors obviously didn't care. They were happy to see Slytherin lose the match, even if the methods were a bit underhanded, since it was the other side that started it.

After a half-hour tactical explanation, the regular players returned to the field to practice Charlie's tactics, while Albert and the other newcomers continued to fly around in circles on broomsticks.

Along the way, a small accident occurred: Fred, who had swapped flying brooms with Albert, was forced to get off the broom after only a short time.

This time, Fred had to admit that there was indeed something wrong with the flying broom.

Quidditch training continued until 10:30 PM. There was no other way; there were only three training opportunities per week. If we didn't make the most of our time to train properly, it wouldn't be easy to win the Quidditch championship.

Of course, the rigorous training is only for the official players. Charlie gives the newcomers a free and relaxed training environment, mainly to cultivate their flying skills and passion for Quidditch.

Without that passion, it would be really hard to get through the tough Quidditch training. After all, Quidditch training will continue regardless of rain, snow, or thunder.

After training, everyone gathered in the locker room. Charlie reviewed the problems that arose during the training and wrote them down so that they could be addressed specifically in the next Quidditch training session.

"Albert flew well," Wood said, glancing at Charlie as he took off his protective gear. "He would be perfect as a Seeker."

"Is Charlie going to give up his Seeker position next year?" Jack said dramatically. Of course, he knew that was impossible; after all, Charlie was the captain, and what captain wouldn't play?

The others agreed on Albert's talent; otherwise, Wood wouldn't have said those things.

"Your brother is good too," Eileen suddenly said. "If we can't find someone more suitable next year, we can let them take our place."

"How about we make Albert the Chaser?" Danny suggested. "I think he would be a good fit."

"I think Angelina would be a good fit; she's more suitable to replace you," Mario added, "if she can stand out in the selection process next year."

Jack said, "As long as she trains with us, there won't be any problem."

"Ahem." Charlie coughed, interrupting the discussion. "For some reason, Albert hasn't focused on Quidditch; he's joined Professor McGonagall's… well, the Transformers Club."

"The Transformation Club?" Wood asked, looking puzzled. "What's that?"

"Do you see the transformation today?" Eileen asked.

"I won't look," Wood answered honestly.

Eileen was speechless for a moment, then thought for a moment and explained, "You can think of it as a club where a group of geniuses who are good at shapeshifting gather."

"Didn't he just enroll?" The others were somewhat taken aback.

Okay, now everyone can guess Charlie's good intentions; he's preparing to leave a backup Seeker for the team.

Although Charlie is a Seeker, he's about to graduate. If the team can't find a suitable Seeker after he graduates, this will be a ready-made substitute.

Although Albert is busy with the Transformers club, if Wood really can't find a suitable suitor, Professor McGonagall would surely be willing to help persuade Albert to join the Quidditch team. After all, they all know that Professor McGonagall's love for Quidditch is no less than anyone else's.

If Albert knew, he would definitely shake his head and think to himself: Don't worry, after Charlie graduates, a protagonist named Harry Potter will take over the Seeker's position.
