Chapter 41 - Charms

Around 8:30, Albert's three roommates walked into the auditorium, still half asleep.

"Good morning!" Lee Jordan, sitting next to Albert, stuffed a big mouthful of sausage into his mouth and muttered, "I feel like my legs are going to break."

"It's not as exaggerated as you say!" Albert closed his copy of "Selected Nineteenth-Century Spells" and put it back in his backpack. He reached out and gently patted Li's shoulder. "You're just overdoing it with exercise. How about I take you to the school clinic and have them get you some medicine?"

"Forget it!" Upon hearing about the school hospital, Li Qiaodan immediately deflated, fearing that they would actually take him there.

The twin brothers sitting next to Li Jordan couldn't help but laugh. Fred, who was eating a golden fried egg, suggested, "Let me tell you... slap your legs hard a few times, it can greatly reduce the soreness."

George then said, "I can help you, for free."

"Are you even human?!" Li Qiaodan glared at the twins with dissatisfaction, then buried his head in his breakfast.

"Stop fooling around and eat quickly. The first class is about to start, and I don't want to be late on my first day of school," Albert reminded him.

While they were eating, a burly man with red hair came over, sat down next to the twins, and asked with a smile, "Are you getting used to school life?"

"Charlie, the Quidditch team starts practicing so early in the morning?" George looked at the other person's attire with disbelief.

"It's just a simple warm-up, after all, none of us have touched a ball all summer," Charlie said matter-of-factly. "This year, we must win the Quidditch trophy."

Upon hearing this, Albert, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but shake his head. "Young man, you're still too young. Don't you know that setting a flag only leads to a quick death?"

"By the way, Charlie, is the team short of players? Can we join the Quidditch team? George and I can be hitters; you know our level."

"Don't even think about it. You've only just enrolled. You can only join the team in your second year," Charlie said seriously. "If you pass the assessment next semester, I'll allow you to join the team, but not this semester."

"There are always exceptions, aren't there?" The twin winked at his older brother and continued, "First-year students can also join, as long as they perform well enough in the field of Earth."

"Who said that!" Charlie Weasley retorted irritably. Even if he was the Quidditch captain, he couldn't act so recklessly.

After all, the Quidditch captain is responsible for all the students of Gryffindor. Losing the game is one thing, but losing too badly because of personal reasons would make him lose face in the school.

The twins suddenly looked at Albert.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Albert asked, puzzled.

Charlie followed the twins' gaze to Albert, and then he became even more confused, having no idea what these two quirky guys were up to.

"Player selection ended yesterday, so you can try to join the team next year. Okay, you can be a backup for the batsmen this year, but don't expect to play." Charlie Weasley coughed lightly, indicating that he wouldn't favor his own guys in this regard.

In fact, the team's hitters will graduate next year, so training them in advance is a good approach. Charlie is also well aware of George and Fred's level; at least they have a better foundation than the others.

"Then can we participate in the training too?" The twins' eyes were filled with undisguised excitement.

"You guys should be free this afternoon, right?" Charles thought for a moment and said, "This afternoon, let me see… Let's meet at the Quidditch pitch at 4:30 this afternoon. I'll give you a heads-up first, and don't cause any trouble."

"We know," the twins nodded in unison.

Before the bell rang for class, the group hurriedly left the hall and headed to the spellcasting classroom on the fourth floor. Having already come two days prior, the four of them easily found the spellcasting classroom this time.

Gryffindor students take Charms class together with Hufflepuff students, and when they enter the classroom, there are already quite a few students there.

Shanna and Angelina arrived early and were sitting at the front table chatting with others.

All the good seats in the front row of the classroom were taken, so the four of them could only choose seats randomly in the back row. Albert didn't care; he sat with Lee Jordan, while the Weasley twins sat next to them.

Professor Flitwick entered the classroom as the second bell rang. This professor of spells was indeed unusually small, and should, as rumored, possess some fairy blood.

Because he was too short, Flitwick had to stand on a stack of books to reach the lectern during class, but no one cared or laughed at his short stature.

Of course, everyone will have some curiosity about the professor's height.

Before class began, Professor Flitwick took out the roster and started calling roll, which gave Albert an immediate sense of déjà vu, just like when he was taking roll call in college.

In the first Charms class, the diminutive Charms professor demonstrated the magic of spells. He made several books on the table start tap dancing, then they jumped higher and higher, forming a row in front of everyone, dancing to a certain rhythm—all that was missing was a beautiful piece of music.

Just as everyone's attention was drawn to the books dancing in mid-air, they returned to their original positions and landed neatly back on Professor Flitwick's desk.

A round of enthusiastic applause erupted as the students were captivated by the magical scene and couldn't wait to learn the spells.

"You still have a lot to learn if you want to reach that level," Professor Flitwick said after the applause. "Now, open your textbooks to page three. You need to first grasp some of the theory of spells, which will help you better master and use spells in the future."

For most of the following time, Professor Flitwick explained the theory of spells and had his students take a lot of complex and difficult notes. He also repeatedly emphasized the importance of how to wave the wand and the correct pronunciation of the spell.

While Albert was concentrating on taking notes, he felt Lee Jordan nudge him a few times with his elbow.

"What's wrong?" Albert turned his head helplessly and asked in a low voice.

Li Jordan pointed to the twins at the next table, who were pointing at Albert's quill pen.

Needless to say, Albert already understood what they meant.

Those two guys didn't bring their quills to class, I'm really impressed by them.

Albert placed his quill on the table and softly recited the copying spell.

"Give me one too," Lee Jordan said, scratching the back of his head.

"You didn't bring any either, why didn't you say so earlier?"

Li Qiaodan chuckled and said, "I was just afraid of disturbing you while you were taking notes. You can just let me copy it after you're done."

Not only did Albert's lips twitch, but Angelina and Aria, who were in front of them, also looked at them with strange eyes.

Of course, Professor Flitwick on the podium noticed it too, but he didn't say much and continued to explain the parts of the spell theory that weren't in the book.
