Rhyne shouted over the roar of collapsing stone. "Kael! You've pierced his defenses before, but the King adapts faster than ever! You need something more—something he can't predict!"
Kael's eyes glowed, flames coiling like serpents around his body. "I know… I can feel it. The Ember is trying to show me… something new."
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. The Ember pulsed in response, no longer just fire, but a living force, almost sentient. Kael felt it resonate with the King's pulse—the rhythm of the crack above—and a revelation struck him: he could manipulate the Ember beyond raw power. He could shape it, extend it, bend it around his enemy's defenses.
Opening his eyes, Kael raised his arms. Fire exploded outward, forming swirling arcs of light that moved with his thought, creating barriers, blades, and traps simultaneously. The King's shadows struck, but they were caught in the Ember's flow, deflected, redirected, and even shattered.
Rhyne's eyes widened. "Kael… that's incredible! You're not just fighting—you're controlling the battlefield itself!"
Kael surged forward, flames lashing in spirals, striking the King from multiple angles at once. He didn't just aim at the armor or core—he manipulated the Ember to anticipate and counter the King's moves, flowing around defenses as easily as water around stones.
The Harrowed King roared, his shadow armor cracking as the Ember pierced through the voided darkness. Yet, the pulse from the crack intensified, shaking the mountains. The King's aura was still overwhelming, but Kael felt for the first time a true connection to his power, a confidence that the Ember could match, and maybe even surpass, the King's might.
Kael's voice rang out over the chaos. "I've learned, and I've adapted… just like you. Let's see who breaks first!"
