Chapter 18 - Dragon Scale Crocodile!

At that moment, Ling Han was standing on the last piece of vegetation before the spatial rift.

Just one and a half meters from the rift, there was nothing left — no grass, no metal, just dark, lifeless soil. It was as if the ground had been completely devoured by the rift.

After thinking for a moment, Ling Han stepped back and picked up a wooden stick that was on the ground, near a tree.

Then, he threw it toward the spatial rift.

Whoosh!

With a whistle, the stick flew and fell on the side of the rift, onto the dark ground.

Nothing happened Ling Han frowned.

In the next second, something happened that scared him.

The solid ground became liquid and began to writhe; countless black material tentacles started to wrap around the wooden stick.

In just a few seconds, the stick was completely devoured by this black magma, and the ground solidified again.

This… Ling Han was immediately frightened.

Although schools warn that staying too close to spatial rifts is extremely dangerous, and that even without monsters the area should not be taken lightly, Ling Han had never imagined something like this.

Before, he had feared that a spatial rift would appear in his home and that countless monsters would emerge and devour him without him being able to react…

But now he discovered that he would die to these black tentacles before even seeing the monsters!

After seeing this, Ling Han naturally did not dare to stay so close to the black ground, and immediately stepped back about ten meters, waiting to see if any monsters would emerge from the spatial rift.

To be honest, he really wanted a Rank F monster to come out of this spatial rift, so that he could have a really good fight.

Up until this moment, no monster had even resisted a casual punch from him!

Although the leveling area is considered a rankless area, that doesn't mean the portals are rankless as well.

All portals discovered in the world range from the weakest, Rank F, to the strongest, Rank SS.

Yes, until today, there has not even been a Rank SSS portal discovered anywhere in the world!

What happens in rankless leveling areas is that all Rank F monsters emerging from spatial rifts are properly controlled by the guards of the leveling area.

And even though it is a Rank F portal, this only means that Rank F is the maximum strength a monster coming out of the portal can have — it doesn't mean weaker monsters cannot appear.

In fact, the amount of monsters appearing at the same rank as the portal is usually less than 5%.

The wait was not long. Ten minutes later, the spatial rift began to tremble slightly.

And this time, not only did the rift tremble, but Ling Han could also feel the ground beneath his feet vibrate slightly. Immediately, he assumed a combat stance.

Under Ling Han's gaze, at the bottom of the rift, a head appeared. He noticed that it seemed covered in scales.

Then, the entire enormous body of the creature began to emerge — almost three meters wide, supported by four legs that made the ground shake with every step.

Ling Han's expression immediately turned solemn.

Dragon Scale Crocodile!

Actually, he should have been extremely happy. After all, this was exactly the Rank F monster he wanted to face. But who could have imagined it would be this one

The Dragon Scale Crocodile is considered the monster with the best defense among all Rank F monsters. They say that even some Guardians, or even Rank E monsters, cannot break its defense!

And, at this very moment, Ling Han was still completely unarmed!

As if wanting to boost his confidence, Ling Han opened his attribute panel.

'My attributes are already extremely close to 150, so dealing with this crocodile shouldn't be impossible, right?' Ling Han thought.

His current strength had probably already reached mid–Rank E, but the problem was that even a Rank E could barely break through the crocodile's defense.

If he had a proper sword, Ling Han wouldn't feel so nervous, but the problem was that he was completely unarmed at the moment.

But the crocodile didn't give him time to think. As soon as its scarlet eyes saw him, it immediately charged at full speed toward him.

Seeing the crocodile extremely close, already opening its mouth to bite, Ling Han moved to the side at his maximum speed. However, the crocodile didn't give him any space.

With a swing, its tail headed toward Ling Han with full force.

Fortunately, Ling Han reacted quickly and punched with all his strength in the direction of the tail.

BANG!

With a crash, Ling Han's hand and the crocodile's tail collided at the same time, raising a huge curtain of smoke.

The impact prevented Ling Han from seeing that the entire body of the crocodile began to roll across the ground rapidly. The tail, still synchronized with his fist, rose with speed, rolled over his arm, and struck his neck and head with full force.

With another crash, Ling Han was thrown rolling toward a tree, and only stopped when his ribs collided with the trunk.

Cough… cough… He felt his vision blur.

A huge wound appeared on half of his head, and blood flowed everywhere. His arm was covered in deep cuts, caused by the crocodile's scales.

Lying down, almost fainting, Ling Han felt something strange.

A familiar yet terrifying sensation his instincts were screaming — look at the head!

Without hesitation, Ling Han understood. It was his ability.

In three seconds, his head would be bitten by the crocodile… and he would die.

Trying to maintain his focus, Ling Han began counting mentally. 1… 2…

When he reached three, even without seeing, he punched in the direction where his head had been with all his strength.

BANG!
