## SOULFLAME RANKS
Every living thing is born with a soulflame. It is the strength of a soul made visible. Rank is measured by two things: **volume**, **purity**
**Rank 1 — Lesser**
Everyone is born here. Lessers have either never trained their soulflame or lack the capacity to. Their flame shows faintly around the stomach, often too dim for anyone to notice. Roughly half the population never leaves this rank.
**Rank 2 — Awakened**
Trained users who can release their soulflame and coat their body with it as a protective layer. This is as far as most people ever get, and it is respectable. Roughly the other half the population.
**Rank 3 — Grandmaster**
Perhaps one in a hundred. Requires immense natural talent and a teacher good enough to draw it out. The gap between some grandmasters is enormous. some are barely above a strong awakened, others are close to something else entirely.
**Rank 4 — Transcendent**

## SOULFLAME COLORS
Color indicates species, without exception.
**Blue — Humans**
**Green — Beastkin**
**Red — Demons**
**Grey — Does not exist/ it's impossible.**
### The Grandmaster's Eyes
A common side effect of reaching Grandmaster rank is that the eyes change permanently to the color of the wielder's soulflame. Human grandmasters have blue eyes. Beastkin grandmasters, green. Demon grandmasters, red.

## THE INFINITY MARK
Every demon is born with a sideways infinity mark somewhere on their body. Placement appears random, though it usually follows a parent's.
## CURRENCY
**1 soulstone = 100 gold**
**1 gold = 100 silver**
Soulstones are the currency of the wealthy, of contracts and bounties and noble accounts. Ordinary people go their whole lives handling gold and silver and may never hold a soulstone at all.
An average day most would spend around 4-10 gold
## THE THREE KINGDOMS
**Atheria — the human kingdom.**
Ruled by a king, guided by the Church of Light. Every noble demon within its borders is registered and "supervised." Interspecies marriage is illegal. Four noble houses hold power.
**Obsidia — the demon kingdom.**
Ruled by a Demon King and a council of noble houses. Demons hold honor among their own kin in higher regard than most outsiders credit. The council has been more powerful than the throne for some time now.
**The Wildkin Kingdom — the beastkin lands.**
Long dismissed by the other two as primitive. In the last twenty years a new king has transformed its economy and standard of living, abolished slavery, and opened its borders to any species without an outstanding criminal record. Atherian refugees are currently flooding north into it.
**No Man's Land** sits at the center of all three. Unclaimed, permanently contested, effectively lawless.
