Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Fortunately, his patience was still strong and could still be cultivated. Otherwise, he would have gone mad by now.

"I'm really angry! He kept saying he had to be here at 6:00 pm. What time is it now? It's already 6:15? They haven't even seen him yet. Angry, you know!" Felix grumbled, confused, stressed and filled with various other feelings.

"Be patient, maybe he has a problem?" Rebecca persuaded, trying to calm Felix down.

Austin, who was not far from Felix in the bus waiting hut, just smiled at Felix's behavior.

"You said that, you like Alex. Try it if you have to join this group, you'll definitely babble like me too," Felix replied, his face tight.

"Hey, it's you! Say I like Alex, take it slow. There's Austin, I'm embarrassed, you know?" Rebecca got angry in a whisper.

"What do I care?" Felix snorted, not at all surprised by Rebecca's words.

The important thing is that he was stressed because he had to wait, so he was in a hurry to get ready because he was worried about being late. The fact is that the person who should have arrived earlier than them, still hasn't shown his face.

"Relax, Junee, NSW isn't far from this campus. If you want to walk, you can get there, it's just a matter of whether you're willing or not."

The motive, walking? I can't afford to tire my legs out walking there. Besides, the mansion is in a rather remote area in the housing estate, you know?"

"In that case, be patient. They'll be here in a moment."

 Felix growled angrily.

Austin just shook his head at the behavior of the two friends.

"It's almost 6.30. When are we leaving? You know, it's late afternoon. My grandmother said it's not good to go out or go to haunted places late in the afternoon, right? You'll have to hide and seek with ghosts," Felix mumbled again.

"Hey, you! Don't be so silly and talk nonsense. That's just a myth to scare the kids of the past who would go out to play, but wouldn't know how to go home even though it was late in the afternoon. Nowadays, kids don't play outside anymore. Everyone is in front of their laptops playing games. Ghosts don't have a job playing hide and seek with kids these days. Don't worry."

There was only a silly answer from Rebecca.

This time Austin laughed. His heart was amused to hear Rebecca's words. The two friends could discuss the issue of ghosts.

Five minutes later, a Mazda CX car stopped right in front of the hut waiting for the bus.

"Even so, I thought I had drowned in that lake," Felix while carrying his backpack.

 "Suhh..."

Rebecca told him to be quiet. It wasn't certain why they couldn't join their activities tomorrow night.

Alex was seen stepping out of the car. Aiden was in the driver's seat, just watching from inside the car.

"Sorry guys, I thought you were late," Alex said in a completely wrong tone.

Felix, Rebecca and Austin got up quickly and walked over to the man.

"Why are you late, Alex?" Rebecca asked, her tone soft.

"Wait for Fiona, you're the one, you can't be reached. Wait for her brother in front of her house just now. But she never showed up. I never got a call."

"Maybe she went out? Did she come in her own car?" Rebecca said, just guessing.

"It doesn't make sense. Her car is in her yard," Alex replied, a little flustered as she dialed Fiona's phone number. But she still couldn't be reached.

"Sorry gang, I'm late," said Fiona, suddenly appearing from behind Alex's car while pacing.

"Haa... You're there too. Where have you been? I've been waiting in front of your house for hours, you know? You live alone, you don't have a roommate. If you have a roommate, I might as well ask if you're home," Alex grumbled, annoyed.

"Relax, what's the point of getting angry? I met Mr. Thomas earlier, asked about my assignment. I didn't notice it was already 6:00," Fiona explained angrily when Alex seemed to blame her.

"Is your cellphone still broken? I've called you a million times and can't get through."

 Fiona grinned.

"There's no budget to fix it yet. But you can iMessage me, right?"

 Alex stared at Fiona, furious.

"I don't understand your phone. I can't make calls, but iMessage can get through?"

 "That's called an advanced cellphone."

"So, why didn't you bring your car?"

"You said you'd meet me here, right? I'm giving my friend a lift to go to college. I'm too lazy to send a car and it's hard for you to pick me up at my house."

"The problem is, Aiden and I have already come to your house."

"Sorry, I didn't know you were so persistent in picking me up before, you rarely pick me up."

Alex held back her anger. Her best friend had an excuse.

"It's too late. Because of you, we're late getting to the mansion," Alex said and walked towards the driver's seat.

"Eh, you guys are coming?" Fiona asked while looking at Felix and Rebecca.

Felix and Rebecca looked at each other with a sense of surprise.

"We said we weren't going to come last night?" Felix asked with a sarcastic tone.

Fiona's eyelids narrowed at Felix. There was no response from the woman except for an angry snort and she stepped into the car.

"What are you waiting for? Get in quickly," Alex instructed.

Felix and Rebecca immediately got in. Austin closed the car door and looked at him as the last person to get in the car. Fiona sat in the back seat alone. Meanwhile, Felix, Rebecca and Austin sat in the middle seat.

On the way, there was no talk. Each with their own wind. Some were confused, some were excited. Some didn't care. Some even stole glances at the man of their dreams. All sorts of things happened, but it all happened quietly.

Less than 15 minutes later, they arrived at their destination. Alex's Mazda CX, driven by Aiden, stopped right in front of the entrance of the dilapidated Monte Cristo mansion. The walls were covered in moss, including the walls that surrounded the large and luxurious mansion.

It can be said that the building is 89% complete. It is not certain whether the building is not completely finished. There is no history or authentic facts about it. From what is spread on the internet, during the final process of completing the mansion's construction, various mysterious problems have occurred. The door that was ordered did not fit the frame even though it had been measured and ordered many times. Including the mirrors on the existing windows. There were just things that made the work to complete the mansion's construction process impossible. Anyway, the mansion was left as it is.

That is one of the variations of the story about the dilapidated mansion. Which one is true, no one can still be sure.

Felix's hairs kept getting goosebumps when he saw the dilapidated mansion in front of him at this time. It was getting dark. The sun had disappeared behind the clouds on the western horizon. Rebecca and Austin were looking at the mansion with a fanatical look because of its beautiful and quite large building structure.

"Hey, step aside." Fiona said as she gently pushed Felix's shoulder because the man was blocking her path.

"What is this pushing and shoving?" Felix was angry, furious.

"You're standing in front of the entrance, what's going on?"

"There's a door over there too?" Felix replied dissatisfied.

He could feel Fiona as if she was dissatisfied with him and Rebecca.

"That's it, aren't you going to start a fight over that?" Aiden snapped as he checked the video camera in his hand.

Even if it's just a visit, he won't miss the opportunity to record.

"This kid, you wimp!" Fiona sneered, cynically. Felix felt hurt.

 "You're rude!"

"That's it. Just be patient," Rebecca said before Felix could reply to Fiona's words.

Fiona just glared and snorted sarcastically at Felix.

"You useless woman!" Felix muttered in his arms as he glared sarcastically at Fiona.

Since last night, he had noticed that the man-like woman was dissatisfied with him and Rebecca. And this evening, the woman's dissatisfied attitude was evident.

"What are you all doing here?"

The reprimand surprised them all and they all simultaneously turned in the direction of the voice.
