Arlene's POV
The universe has decided I possess nerves forged from titanium because every conceivable disaster has crashed into my existence. Warner has inserted himself into our world, and regardless of my desires to see him vanish, he appears utterly indifferent to my wishes.
Both twins huddle over my phone, scrolling through puppy photographs. After showing them my preferred choice, their enthusiasm practically radiates from their small bodies. Perhaps this excitement might cushion the devastating news I must deliver about their father's existence, and the harsh reality that refusing his demands could result in court intervention. Our previous conversation went well, yet uncertainty clouds my judgment regarding how much trust I should extend to them.
"You appear completely drained. This marks day three," Hannah extends a wine glass toward me.
"There's something crucial I need to share," I murmur, gazing down at my children. "Regarding their father."
