Chapter 1 - Chapter 1; First Glance.

Ava had always thought the city streets hid more stories than anyone dared to tell. But none of those stories prepared her for the day she met Jess.

It was just another rainy afternoon, the kind that made the world feel quiet and heavy. Ava's heart, however, felt anything but still the moment Jess smiled at her from across the coffee shop.

"Jess..Jess!" A lady called out from the lobby, it was Mrs Broccoli, Jess's mother.

"Are you done cleaning up already? I told you I need to go visit your grandma" her mum called out, searching for her purse and at the same time putting on her jewelries.

"One second mum, I'm done, just have to pack up the dirt's" Jess said sluggishly. "Well, bye then, see you later in the day and don't forget to eat breakfast" Mrs Broccoli called out and slammed the door behind her.

Haew... Jess sighed as she cleaned her face with the back of her hands. "This is so fucked up, ugh, I thought mum would get a nanny, I can't be doing all of this every single day." She whispered to herself with a frown on her face, one could tell she's really not happy.

She went back upstairs to her room to go take a bath, because she was new to Johannesburg and as usual wanted to explore everywhere, people call her curious George, her inquisitiveness Is actually very shocking.

Oxfords road, Johannesburg.

Ava stood still at the park, patiently waiting for her ride, A blonde haired, blue eyed, slim, tall 19 years old who happens to be a queer, she's done with high school and has high hopes of entering college soon.

"Honk honk" a car stopped by, "are you miss ava Arthur?" A young man of about 25 years old asked, bringing down the glass of the well polished car.

"Whoa, ain't no way this pretty car is used for Uber" ava thought to herself, smiling.

"Yes, I'm the one" she replied him and entered the back seat.

He kept staring at her from the rearview mirror constantly winking at her, she felt disgusted.

She's never really liked men, and she wondered why the short headed driver was being flirty with her. She could count the amount of times she hissed and rolled her eyes, wishing the car would just speed up so she could get down.

But reckless driving was against Johannesburg's driving rules, one could get jailed for reckless driving.

She was looking through the window and suddenly thought of her ex, she smiled sadly, while reminiscing on all the memories the shared and then...THUD!

"Jesus Christ what was that!" She yelled holding her heart like it was about to jump out.

"I'm sorry ma" the driver called out looking frightened, too.

It turns out the driver must've skipped the traffic light and they was about to hit another vehicle when he stepped on the brake of the car so hard it stopped with force.

With trembling hands, the driver managed to get back on track.

This time, he didn't wink at her or give her flirty smiles, and Ava was thankful for the thud, she smiled to herself.

"Oh, I'm here now.." she said picking up her stuffs that fell from the thud.

She got down from the car, took a deep breathe, looked back and figured the driver was still smiling at her, licking his lips.

"This is so gross" she thought to herself, she's already paid him the day before so she didn't have to spend money again.

"Well, hello Jan smuts" she said looking around,

Jam smuts avenue, was where her best friend, Jamie lives while she stayed at Oxford road.

She took another cap to his apartment.

"Ding dong....ding dong..." The doorbell rang, she could hear footsteps coming from the house, she was pretty much excited because it's been months since they saw each other which is weird because they were living close.

Her thoughts were cut short as he hugged her.

"Omgg, avaaaaaa!!!" He screamed excitedly taking glances at her.

"My my my, you look goooooodddddddd" he said smiling sheepishly, "oh Jamie, it's really nice to see you after a long time" she said and hugged him again.

"Let's go in, you'll freshen up, then I'll take you to my favorite spot to have a drink" he said excitedly while pushing her lightly into the house and trolling her box.

MEANWHILE...

"I bet they'll be somewhere around the neighborhood where I can get nice drink" Jess said locking the door, her mum wasn't home yet so she decided to take a mild stroll.
