Ch-1

Year 2078. The world seemed to have advanced a lot since a few decades. It was no longer a dream for people to live as long as a century but it all came with a price.

As the time moved forward, so did the technology. The technology became advanced that even a person who was born with mental problems were cured.

But, those people with mental unstablitiy were given brain modification. They could walk, talk and behave normally but it failed to help them understand human emotions and react to it.

They were often called Humanoids since their minds work on the basis of the information entered in the program. They can think but thier thinking is limited. There is a certain barrier that there thinking cannot cross.

Yet, they were still human. Not AI. They had thier human insticts and there brains operates that like a human.

Some believes that it is a great leap towards future and they would be able to cure many more problems and understand and replicate human brain while others think it's a measure to control human population. An experiment which was disguised as a blessing.

It was a quiet Tuesday morning in Elsos Hospital. There were less patients around and everything seemed normal. The nurses didn't have much work to do except for checking on patients and giving them medicines and doses on time.

Aiden wrote on a piece of paper and then handed it to his patient.

"Come on Thursday." He said to the patient while maintaining a neutral expression.

"What? Why?" Luna asked as she took the paper.

"For a checkup." He said as he turned to face his laptop

"Wasn't that the reason why I was here?"

"Yes. But the medical equipment is under repair. So, you would have to wait until Thursday. You can come Tommorow evening if you'd like. But, i have a lot of patients around that time." Aiden replied as he he remained focuses on his laptop, typing words that was not understandable by other people except doctors.

"Doctor, i have work."

"Me too."

"..."

"What?" Aiden asked turning to her.

"Nothing, Doctor." Luna said as she gazed down at the paper.

Aiden sighed at her expression and decided to speak up "So, how were you."

"Me? I was doing fine."

"I see. Still being treated as a lifeshield?"

"Yeah." Luna said not looking at him.

"You are definitely being mistreated. You should quit your job and work as a private detective instead." Aiden said as he went back to typing.

"I should but... The pay is good."

"Is that it?"

"I am having a hard time finding a different one. I am bad at my job. Its my dream to become a detective but I can't do anything. I am bad at it. Every clue just- escapes my eye! I am only good at combat. Maybe i should just stay at home, forever."

Aiden looked at her.

"You are not bad at your job."

"How would you know? You were not there." Luna argued.

"Look at me when I am speaking to you." Aiden said.

Luna looked at his forest green eyes. It was as mesmerizing as always. She would find herself lost in his eyes whenever she looked at him. Whenever they lock eyes coincidentally, her eyes were the first one to look away.

"It's your dream. You worked hard for it. There is no way you would be bad at it. When you like something and can't reach it. You need just need to try harder. No matter how many times you fail, you have to stick to your ideal. " Aiden told her as his expressions remained calm and unchanged.

A thought rang in her mind. She wanted to say it aloud but she couldn't. 'Then can i reach your heart too?'

"I achieved my dream to become a cardiologist didn't i?" He asked.

"Yeah you did."

"You should go now."

"But-"

"I am a cardiologist not your therapist. I have other patients to attend to." He said as he went back to type out his report.

"But, no one is outside."

"I have a operation to do at 10 am."

"But it's 9 am" Luna argued.

"You don't have a job?"

A sigh of defeat came out from Luna's mouth as she took the piece of paper and went outside the room.

'When will you like me?'

She knew that her crush could not experience emotions normally. He's one of the 'humanoids'. A human with a robotic brain. Yet, her heart doesn't stop beating for him. Was it her condition? No, it was different than her condition. It was because of him.

And, Aiden knew it all too well. Her thoughts about him were clear as a daylight. But, he could not love. He could not replicate the emotions that the others gave him. Not with his mother, nor his friends.

A cool breeze passed in his room which diverted Aiden's mind. He stopped typing and gazed outside.

He saw the girl walk by holding the paper in his hand as she exited the building. He watched her until she became a small dot at a distance, eventually disaapearing.
