Chapter 9 — Testing the Impossible
The moon hung low over the Azevedo estate, painting everything in silver. The nursery was warm, quiet, and filled with the comforting scent of soft cotton blankets. A small night-light shaped like a smiling crescent moon glowed gently in the corner, casting soft silhouettes across the walls.
Little Árman Azevedo, now a year old, lay on his back in his crib. His tiny fingers clutched the edge of his blanket, his golden eyes half-open. To anyone who walked in, he looked like any peaceful baby preparing to drift into sleep.
But inside his mind, the world was wide awake.
The status window he summoned earlier still glowed faintly in his vision, waiting for his next command. His heart thumped softly in his chest—though calm, he felt a new kind of excitement, the curiosity of someone who had just opened the door to infinity.
He inhaled quietly, then whispered in his mind:
"System… open Shop."
A vast blue panel unfolded silently.
It didn't make sound.
It didn't shine into the room.
It didn't disturb a single soul.
Only he could see it, like a universe hidden inside a dream.
---
The Shop System Interface
Categories unfolded like pages of an endless library:
Skills
Knowledge
Items
Blessings
Enhancements
Bloodlines
Etc
Árman stared, mesmerized. There were things he did not yet understand—but with Max Comprehension, the moment he looked at a category, the meaning flowed effortlessly into his mind.
Still, he didn't rush.
He was a one-year-old with the brain of a limitless being, but he didn't act recklessly. He wanted to test what he already had.
---
First Test: Language Master
He focused on the baby mobile hanging above him.
Bright stars.
Little elephants.
Small wooden letters that dangled and turned slowly in the air.
He whispered to himself in a tiny baby voice:
"Estrela…"
(Star in Portuguese.)
Then a moment later:
"Star…"
"Étoile…"
"Hoshi…"
"Nyota…"
"Astrum…"
"Sitara…"
"Gwiazda…"
"Bintang…"
Perfect pronunciation. Perfect accents.
Each language flowed naturally, as if he had been born in every country on Earth.
He giggled softly.
His first success.
---
Second Test: Max Comprehension
He turned his head to the side where his stuffed bear sat.
To anyone else, it was a toy.
To him, it was an experiment.
He observed the stitching.
In an instant, he understood:
the pattern
the factory process
the threading tension
the type of fabric
the dye composition
the machine that produced it
the technique used by the worker
and even the economics behind toy manufacturing
He understood all of it instantly.
He blinked twice.
Even he was impressed.
---
Third Test: One-Click Max Level
He whispered mentally:
"System… give me the skill: Acoustic Interpretation."
A simple skill that allowed the user to understand and interpret sounds perfectly.
Instantly—
[Skill Acquired — Max Level Achieved]
He could now hear:
footsteps far down the hallway
the subtle hum of electricity
the breaths of the household pets sleeping nearby
the faint pulse of water moving inside the walls
But his face stayed calm.
He didn't cry.
He didn't make noise.
He simply listened, absorbing the world.
---
Fourth Test: 10000x Fold Multiplier
This was the dangerous one.
He decided to test it carefully.
Not physically.
Not with money.
Not with anything that would interfere with the real world.
Just a harmless concept.
"System… multiply my calmness by 10,000."
A wave of tranquility washed over him—gentle, soft, weightless.
His breathing slowed.
His heartbeat steadied.
His mind felt like a lake without ripples.
The skill worked.
And since calmness was internal and harmless, no one would notice.
He nodded internally.
Safe. Controlled. Perfect.
---
Fifth Test: Peak IQ and EQ
He didn't need to do much.
The effects were already present.
He could:
track the movement of shadows
sense vibrations in the mattress
understand the emotional atmosphere of the house
recognize every voice he had ever heard
interpret tone, mood, and intention
And yet—
He giggled like a baby.
He babbled when his mother checked on him.
He smiled at his father.
He played with toys normally.
No one suspected a thing.
---
A New Thought
He leaned back in the crib, staring up at the ceiling.
"System…"
he whispered softly,
"how many things can I buy?"
A gentle response appeared:
[User has unlimited access. No restrictions.]
His small heart fluttered.
Unlimited.
He didn't fully understand what that meant yet—not in scale, not in consequences—but he knew it was something enormous.
And for the first time since awakening the system…
He felt excitement.
Not fear.
Not confusion.
Just pure excitement, the kind a child feels when discovering something magical.
He yawned, tiny and innocent, and whispered:
"Close system…"
The menus faded from his vision.
His eyes grew heavy.
He turned onto his side, hugging his tiny blanket, and drifted straight into sleep—while the world outside believed the miracle baby was nothing more than a sweet child having peaceful dreams.
Only he knew that tonight was the first step into something far beyond imagination.
