Chapter 20 - Gryffindor's Ultimate Recruit

The test paper consisted of a large number of fill-in-the-blank questions. If you had really done your preparation, the test paper wasn't too difficult.

Vizette pointed to the empty seat and said, "1754, Office for the Prohibition of the Abuse of Magic, British Ministry of Magic, England, Aurabella Natley, to repair the Colosseum in Rome that was accidentally destroyed."

"Dude! You're amazing!" Lee Jordan gave him a thumbs up and immediately started writing, filling in the correct answer in the blank space.

"The Guardian Charm, spelled 'Expecto Patronum,' means 'an ancient and mysterious spell that can summon a magical guardian deity'..."

One by one, the blank spaces on the preview test paper were filled in. Cho Chang, who had been secretly laughing, changed her expression and looked at Vizette with surprise.

Waaaaaah!

With a resounding whistle, the Hogwarts Express finally set off.

Outside the window, countless parents waved goodbye, and many younger children cried and chased after the train.

As the train sped up, the crying and chasing children were left behind, only able to wave goodbye.

Now that they were truly free from their parents' control, many children were finally showing expressions of relief, pulling out their wands from their pockets, and laughter and playful shouts filled the train.

After finishing his homework, Lee Jordan was full of energy again. "Let me tell you! I met a lot of wizards in Africa and even learned a magic spell that doesn't require a wand!"

Cho Chang became interested. "Wandless spellcasting? I've read about it in books. It seems like Africa is quite good at this."

Lee Jordan waved his hand: "It's not just wandless spellcasting, it's magic done through gestures! I'll demonstrate... show you."

He rolled up his sleeves and performed a series of fancy movements, clapping his hands loudly.

But nothing happened; no special light appeared, and nothing unusual occurred.

Cho Chang murmured softly, then cautiously inquired, "Are you sure this is magic? What kind of magic does it have?"

"Hmm... how about I try again?" Lee Jordan scratched his head, pulled his sleeves up to his shoulders, and clapped his hands loudly again.

"Merlin's briefs! Are you being controlled by an African wizard?" a voice with an exaggerated tone rang out.

Fred slipped in, grabbed Lee Jordan's shoulders and shook him violently. "Don't get hurt! We're waiting for your bag spider!"

"Hey! Vizette, you're here too!" George followed closely behind, waving and greeting him. "Oh... and the girl who distracted Cedric."

Cho Chang nodded without saying much, but her ears turned slightly red.

"Of course I'm fine!" Lee Jordan shook off Fred's hands. "Be careful, you might have crushed the bag spider!"

"Then we'll regret it for the rest of our lives!" George made a praying gesture. "Hurry up and get it out!"

In an instant, all five people's attention was drawn to it.

Cho Chang was mainly on guard, afraid that the hairy spider would suddenly leap up and jump in front of her.

Fred, George, and Lee Jordan admired and marveled at the abundance of bristles on the bag spider's body.

Vizette used his magical eye, like an X-ray machine, to scan the bag spider's body back and forth.

Apart from the fangs and venom glands emitting a ghostly green glow, the rest of the bag spider's body did not glow, appearing as a hazy gray.

Vizette focused his attention on the green light emanating from the fangs and venom glands; there seemed to be a symbol within the green light.

However, the symbol is too blurry to make out its specific structure.

A hand suddenly appeared where the fangs were, and the bag spider did not hesitate at all, biting the hand and injecting its magical venom into it.

As the venom was fully injected, the green light of the fangs and venom glands dimmed immediately.

The hand belonged to Fred, and the bite mark was swollen at a visible rate.

Cho Chang's eyes widened, and she instinctively drew her wand. "Why did you put your hand there yourself?!"

"Don't worry, it's nothing serious." George remained calm, pulling something that looked like a suction cup from his pocket and slapping it onto the bite mark.

The suction cup seemed to come alive, actually making a "gurgling" sound.

The magical venom flowed down the wound, was absorbed by the suction cup, and gathered in the small glass bottle at the top.

Fred's hand quickly went down in swelling, leaving two small, rice-grain-sized cuts.

Lee Jordan wasn't idle either; he took out a green leaf, chewed it hastily, and spat it onto Fred's wound.

A few wisps of green smoke slowly dissipated. When Fred brushed aside the green leaves, the wound had completely healed, but it was smoother than the surrounding area.

Fred then grimaced and let out a long breath, "That bag spider was really tough! It hurt like hell!"

"But we got this!" George removed the glass bottle and gently shook the green venom inside. "Ton-Tongue Toffee, here we come!"

Fred smiled. "But remember, next time you'll be the one getting bitten."

Vizette dispelled his magical gaze and asked curiously, "Excuse me... is that Dittany?"

"You're an expert!" Lee Jordan said proudly, puffing out his chest and pulling out a bag full of green leaves. "I got these in Africa, and this whole bag is free!"

"No wonder it healed so quickly, it turns out it's this rare find!" Fred exclaimed in amazement. "I wonder when we'll be able to earn enough money to take our family on a trip."

"It should be soon," George reassured him, then looked at Vizette, "I didn't expect you to recognize Dittany at a glance."

"My buddy here is really something!" Lee Jordan put his arm around Vizette's shoulder, calling him a brother. "While I was waiting for you guys, guess how he finished his homework?"

Fred said, "It's probably just a guess. It's just Professor Flitwick's assignment, not Professor McGonagall's. It's not a big deal."

"Ahem..." Cho Chang coughed twice to indicate that she, as a Ravenclaw, was still there.

"I'm not as irresponsible as Fred," Lee Jordan said with a grin. "With Vizette's help, I finished the pre-exam paper."

"Hmm..." George stroked his chin, "What's the difference between what you're doing and just guessing?"

Lee Jordan suggested, "Why don't we check the test papers? Anyway, I trust him, and trust doesn't need a reason."

Fred and George were both action-oriented, and they quickly took out their practice test papers and checked them word by word.

Even after checking everything, George was still a bit unconvinced, so he also brought out the "Standard Spells, Level 3" and checked the corresponding blanks again.

"Merlin's Mediterranean! How could it be all right... There were some places where I was careless and didn't spell the words correctly..."

"Right?" Lee Jordan said smugly. "If I hadn't actually cast the Restoration Charm, I wouldn't have believed it."

"He's just a freshman, yet he managed to memorize 'Standard Spells, Level 3' in the time he spent buying books in Diagon Alley. Isn't that amazing?"

"Interested in coming to Gryffindor?" Fred's expression suddenly turned serious as he patted Vizette on the shoulder. "We need someone like you!"
