I will be explaining the magic system of "The Lycoris of Heroes" here so that there isn't too much confusion when reading
Humans are born with genetic abilities known as Traits. These traits are passed down from parents to offspring which can easily be charted with the usage of Punnett Squares
The abilities passed on are Elemental abilities which are co-dominant meaning that both abilities are expressed if the individual is heterozygous.The abilities will now be listed out with their corresponding initials.
Fire-W
Water-W
Air-A
Lightning-L
Dark-d
Light-l
Dark and Light are recessive which means that someone would need to be homozygous to have either Dark or Light
Variables can also occur and their are two known variables which effects these abilities: The Alter Variable and the Blend Variable.
The Blend variable causes the Co-dominant traits to become Incomplete dominance which causes the elements to blend together to create new combinations. This variable is passed through with autosomal dominance. This means that someone only needs one copy from either parent to have this trait. The following elements are made from this method.
Fire+Lightning-Plasma
Fire+Water- Lava
Water+Wind- Cloud
Lightning+Water- Acid
Lightning + Wind-Sound
The Alter Variable is Sex Linked Recessive which gets somewhat complicated. This means that the both X chromosomes have to carry the recessive gene. This can only be done with the father HAS the variable and the mother is either a carrier OR has the trait. This variable doesn't change Light or Dark traits for some unusual reason however this variable does affect the 4 Main Elements. This variable alters how the element works. The list of these are
Fire-Explosions
Water-Ice
Lightning-Earth
Wind-Gravity
There are official terms to call people depending on their element which is called their Classification typically abbreviated as Class. The Classes are listed like this.
Fire-Blazer
Water-Surfer
Wind-Winger
Lightning-Blitzer
Light-Stark
Dark-Pitch
Ice-Frost
Gravity-Gravo
Plasma-Plasmoid
Explosion-Boomer
Acid-Toxifier
Sound-Notes
Cloud-Floof
Lava-Magmo
Earth-Quake
Their also Types to these qualifications which is how this element is used. A theory called the 12 Month Theorem was made believing that the 11 types were determined on the month they were born. Although these have a larger demographic, it was never confirmed to be true or a law of science.
The 11 types go as follows
1.Creation-generating the element
2.Separation-can seperate things using said element
3.Teleportation-Can teleport between two sources of an element
4.Divination-can predict the future using the element
5.Manipulation- can manipulate the element
6.Mimicry- Can become the element
7.Transmutation- can turn things into the element
8.Infusion-can cover things with the element
9.Knowledge- have complete knowledge of the element
10.Regeneration- can heal with the element
11.Destruction- can destroy the element
To close this off, I will now provide an example of these using the MC, Bullet.
Bullet can generate Air from seemingly the palms of his hands. He is only shown to use this ability which mean that he is homozygous air in terms of his genetics and his classification is a Winger and his type is Creation. He doesn't possess the two variables and he breaks the 12 Month Theorem because he wasn't born in January. He was born on September 21st.
