Chapter 17 - Engagement

Keifer's POV

Sunlight filtered through the curtains.

Today was a special day.

My engagement.

Jay wasn't beside me this morning—not because she didn't want to be, but because our one and only chaotic group, Section E, had separated us. I missed her more than I expected.

A knock came at the door.

It was my mom, smiling warmly, with Jay beside her.

"Get ready, Keifer, sweetheart," they said.

"Yes, Mom," I replied before heading to the bath 🚿.

I got ready in the suit Jay had chosen for me—wife selection suit, as Section E loved to tease. As soon as I stepped out, chaos greeted me again.

"Keifer, hurry up! Your fiancée is waiting for you!" David shouted.

Cin popped up dramatically.

"Where is my lovey-dovey husband? I've been waiting! If he comes, I'll kiss him—mwah! Mwah!"

Laughter echoed through the room as I headed toward the hall.

The engagement hall itself was massive—but I knew the wedding 🏰 hall would be even bigger.

I stood there, waiting.

Then the lights shifted toward the hallway.

And my breath stopped.

She appeared.

Her dress stole the air from my lungs.

I couldn't look away.

She was damn hot—sexy, breathtaking, and impossibly gorgeous. I was so mesmerized that I didn't even realize she was standing right in front of me.

Section E whistled and hooted behind us.

"Exchange the rings 💍," the priest said.

We did.

Applause erupted 🥳, cheers filling the hall as Section E blasted the celebration 🎉.

And in that moment, with her hand in mine, nothing else mattered.

Jay's POV

As we exchanged our rings 💍, the chaos section—Section E 🥳—came alive.

Someone shouted that we should play musical chairs. I wanted to join too, but Keifer immediately shook his head.

"It's not good for you and our little one 💗, babe," he said softly. "After our baby is born, we can play as much as you want. Hmm?"

I nodded, smiling, even though I wasn't entirely sure what Section E had planned next.

Somehow, they had become my family. Cin, Felix, and Rory were already calling me mom because of how much I cared for everyone. Music filled the hall, and the game began.

Percy and Cin danced like ballerinas 🩰, completely lost in the rhythm. Aries, on the other hand, just kept circling the chairs 🪑, looking far too serious for a silly game. I giggled quietly, remembering the time Aries did that ridiculous chimpanzee dance 🌐 when I recorded him with Keifer and Percy.

Blaster music played loudly. Someone pretended to play an invisible guitar 🎸. Josh and Yuri disappeared somewhere in the chaos, and suddenly I realized David was gone too.

Where did he go?

Freya wasn't around either.

Something felt… fishy.

Keifer was sitting beside me, watching everything carefully. I leaned closer and whispered that I needed to go to the washroom. Of course, I lied—if I told him I was going to investigate, he wouldn't allow it. 😁

He nodded anyway.

Moving slowly because of my dress, I slipped away toward the changing room. Evening had already fallen, and the engagement ceremony was officially over. Everyone else had already changed into comfortable outfits for games—except me.

So, I went to change.

Then I wear a black dress.

Honestly, I don't like dresses.

I would much rather wear my hubby's oversized T-shirt (hehehehe) 👕—it would be so comfortable. But the truth is, this dress isn't even mine.

It belongs to Freya.

I didn't get any clothes for later, so I borrowed hers. After changing, I stepped outside to search 🔍 for my mission.

Suddenly, someone tapped my shoulder.

A ghost? 👻

Ghost?!

"I don't want to die this early—AAAH!" I screamed.

"Jay," someone said.

That voice… it was familiar. Not exactly like Keifer's—but close enough.

"Idiot, you scared me 😨," I said.

He chuckled softly.

"Okay, where are you going?" he asked.

"Did you see David?" I asked quickly.

"No," he replied.

"Ohh 😮," I muttered.

"Why?" he asked.

"Freya is also not there. Something is fishy, Keifer," I said.

"Jay, come on. Don't meddle," he warned.

"Please 🥺," I said, giving him my best puppy eyes.

He sighed.

"Ahh… fine."

...

As we moved slowly, trying not to make any noise, I saw someone in the yard.

I immediately signaled Keifer to come closer 👉🏻.

Seriously—did I turn Watson's heir into my personal gossiper? My very own crime partner in meddling?

We walked like detectives {🔎👣🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏻‍♂️}.

And then—

We saw them.

Freya and David.

Kissing.

My jaw nearly dropped.

Keifer looked just as shocked by what he had witnessed.

Quietly, we retreated and returned to the games, pretending like nothing happened. After all, the wedding 🏰 was only a week away.

They didn't come back together.

David came first.

Then Freya approached me, trying way too hard to look casual.

"Gurlll! When did you change?" she said. "And you're wearing my dress!"

"Ahh… when I went to witness someone," I replied, smirking.

Freya's eyes lit up. "Who?" she asked eagerly. After all, she is a gossip girl.

"Ahem… who were kissing in the yard," I said calmly.

Her face turned red instantly.

"Did you see us?" she asked, clearly panicking.

"Hmmm 🤔," I hummed.

"Not only me—my crime partner in meddling, my husband, also saw you."

"What?!" she shouted.

I burst out laughing.

Keifer walked over.

"What happened, babe? Why are you laughing like this?" he asked.

"I told Freya that we witnessed them," I said between laughs.

He joined me, laughing just as hard.

Later that night, we went home.

I changed into Keifer's oversized shirt and comfortable trousers. He lay beside me, gently placing his hand on my belly 💗.

He kissed my forehead softly.

And just like that, wrapped in warmth, laughter, and love—

We drifted off to sleep 😴.
