POV: Iris Hartwell
The envelope arrived with the building's morning mail.
No return address. Her name printed in block letters. Inside: a single document. A financial record. A payment authorization dated four months before Daniel's death.
Iris stared at it for a full minute before understanding what she was looking at.
Her account. A wire transfer of $150,000. Recipient: Meridian Holdings LLC,the same shell company connected to Raymond DeVos. Authorization signature, her name, her handwriting, or someone's attempt at replicating her handwriting.
She didn't remember this. Had never authorized this. Would never have authorized this.
Her hands began to shake.
She moved through the penthouse looking for Julian. Found him in his office reviewing security protocols with Victor. They both looked up when she entered.
"Someone sent me this," she said, and held out the document with shaking hands.
Julian took it. Studied it. His expression shifted into something sharp and focused.
