The outer moon gardens were eerily quiet. Asteria's fingers tingled with residual magic, ready for anything.
Kael walked beside her, sword gleaming softly under the silver light. "Something about this place feels… wrong," he muttered.
Asteria squinted. "You mean besides the fact that there's literally a history of me accidentally blowing things up here?"
Puff darted ahead, ears twitching. Asteria groaned. "Of course he leads the way. I should've been suspicious of him."
They rounded a crystalline fountain, and the air shimmered. Strange energy twisted around the flowers, bending moonlight into ghostly shapes.
Asteria stepped forward. "Yep. Definitely not normal."
From the shadows, a figure emerged. Cloaked, but familiar. Lunevar narrowed his eyes instinctively. "This… can't be."
The figure dropped the hood. A familiar face stared back—someone from Kael's past. Someone with motives as tangled as moon vines.
"I wondered when you'd arrive," the stranger said. "Seems the Starweaver's power grows faster than expected."
Kael stepped forward, protective and fierce. "Step back. She's not yours to threaten."
Asteria, heart racing, realized something strange—she didn't feel fear. She felt… determination. Magic swirled around her hands like liquid silver.
"You can't intimidate me," she said, surprising even herself. "I've fought shadows, prophecy, and the universe's terrible timing. You're not new."
The stranger smirked. "We'll see about that."
Before a fight could break out, Kael took her hand. "Together," he said. "No one—nothing—takes you alone."
Asteria's heart did that flutter again, the one she had tried to ignore. She nodded. "Together."
Magic surged, light coiling around them. Shadows quivered at the brilliance, as if realizing they weren't dealing with a single person anymore—but a pair, bonded, unstoppable.
Even Puff meowed as if to cheer them on.
The confrontation wasn't just about battle—it was about proving their bond, trust, and the strength of what they had built.
As the stranger lunged, Asteria glanced at Kael, breathless. "You know…"
"Yes?" he asked, eyes bright.
"I'm glad we're stuck with each other… chaos, prophecy, and all."
Kael grinned. "Me too. Now let's show them what happens when destiny fights back."
And with silver light blazing, the final duel of the arc began.
