"There are many assassin guilds throughout the kingdom, and I have no idea where their hideouts are," Jacob said, his voice carrying a note of frustration.
Zero gave a slow nod.
"Hmm… you're right. From what I remember, they never used obvious places as hideouts. They preferred ordinary-looking houses." Zero gestured toward a modest building across the street. "See that house? The Knife Guild could be operating from a place just like that. Who knows?"
A faint smile tugged at the corner of Daniel's lips as his eyes followed Zero's gesture. Of all the houses lining the street, Zero had unknowingly pointed directly at the Knife Guild's hideout.
Daniel's eyes lingered on the house for another moment.
But before he could say anything—
"Aaaah! Someone, help!"
A woman's terrified scream tore through the bustling street.
Heads snapped toward the sound.
Merchants stopped mid-shout. Conversations broke off one after another as people turned toward the commotion.
