Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: The Destroyer

Chapter 92: The Destroyer

"Don't worry, Jane, I will come back to see you," Good Thor said, pulling out the small bear. "I was originally going to give this to my dear Loki, but now it's yours."

"Thank you..." Jane took the bear. It was certainly a unique gift; a kiss would have been much nicer.

Just then, the sky above the town began to change dramatically. A giant, dark, cloud-like vortex appeared in the sky, and the huge energy fluctuation once again drew the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Go! Let's go see what that is!"

Coulson called for four vehicles and headed toward the location of the energy fluctuation. They had to clearly identify what was arriving this time.

At the Jane's Lab

"What is happening?" Daisy exclaimed, pointing at the sky ahead.

Everyone followed Daisy's finger and saw a vortex forming in the sky not far away, with lightning interwoven within it.

"Uh... Thor, do you have more friends coming?" Jane asked, frowning suspiciously.

Good Thor looked at Sif and the others; he wasn't sure about the situation either.

"I don't know. We were the only ones who came to Midgard," Fandral said, also looking confused. Who else would risk violating Odin's command to visit Thor?

Soon, on the other side, Coulson and a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents arrived directly beneath the energy vortex.

Boom!

A huge object dropped to the ground, kicking up sand all around and forcing Coulson and the others to quickly close their eyes to prevent sand from getting in.

As the dust settled, Coulson slowly opened his eyes and saw the enormous iron monster before him. It was a giant metal figure, crafted entirely of metal, gleaming with a cold light under the sunlight.

"Is that Stark's new invention?" a nearby agent asked cautiously.

"I don't know. In any case, let's greet it first." Coulson picked up a loudspeaker and shouted, "Ahem~ Excuse me, sir, this weapon of yours is illegal as it was not approved."

No sooner had he spoken than the Destroyer's eyes began to gather energy and glow.

"What is that? Look out! Scatter!"

As a veteran agent, Coulson's years of experience gave him an immediate premonition of danger. Just as he was about to order the agents to disperse, a searing laser beam shot out from the Destroyer's eyes.

Crash!

Four cars were blown into the air. Coulson reacted in time and dodged the blast. Crucially, the Destroyer's target wasn't them, so they were lucky enough to survive, or they would have been reduced to corpses. The agents who had been standing right next to the cars met a grim end, dismembered with only scattered limbs remaining.

"What exactly is that thing?" Coulson swallowed hard. This was much more formidable than Stark's armor.

The Destroyer ignored the "ants" on the ground. It took heavy, slow steps and walked toward the small town where Thor was staying.

In the Town

"I have a bad feeling about this," Sif said, looking at Thor beside her.

Good Thor said nervously, "Maybe we should run first. Wouldn't it be dangerous to stay here?"

"What are you talking about, Thor! How did you become so cowardly!" Sif was shocked that Thor would utter such words.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Heavy footsteps approached. As the sounds grew louder, the Destroyer's massive body came into the view of Good Thor and the others.

"Oh my god! It's the Destroyer! Isn't it supposed to be guarding Asgard?" Good Thor asked in surprise. It was the Destroyer's duty to guard Asgard. What was it doing on Midgard?

"It must have been sent by Loki to kill you," Sif concluded instantly. Loki was currently managing Asgard, so who else could command the Destroyer?

"We're going to fight side-by-side again, Thor!" Fandral exclaimed, excitedly pulling out his weapon.

Good Thor quickly said, "No, my powers were taken back by Father, and fighting is wrong."

"What in the world are you saying?" Fandral had never heard Thor say such a thing before.

"Never mind that," Sif said, pulling out her spear. "Thor, you take them and leave. Leave this to us."

Good Thor immediately left with Jane, pulling a group of people away. He had no godly powers now and would only get in the way if he stayed, and besides, fighting was truly wrong.

"Are you ready, everyone!" Sif shouted to the Warriors Three.

Volstagg cracked his neck, raised his shield, and said, "Of course, I've been ready for ages!" With that, Volstagg charged forward first.

"Thor, you all hurry!" Hogun grabbed his sword and immediately followed, charging toward the Destroyer.

Thor didn't hesitate, pulling Jane along and leading the group away. He had no godly powers, and staying would only distract Sif and the others who would have to protect him.

"Thor, what about them?" Jane asked, worried about Thor's friends. After all, the figure they were facing was enormous.

"Oh, don't worry, Jane. We have fought alongside each other before. I trust their strength!" Thor was highly confident in his friends.

But immediately, Volstagg, who had charged forward first, was punched away by the Destroyer, smashing into the windshield of a nearby car, completely denting the front of the vehicle.

"Hmph!" Hogun lowered his body and deftly dodged the Destroyer's punch, swinging his sword at the Destroyer's foot. However, he only managed to grind out a spark; not even a scratch was left on the metal.

"Oh no!"

Taking advantage of Hogun's moment of stunned disbelief, the Destroyer grabbed Hogun by the neck and lifted him high into the air. Staring at Hogun's head, the Destroyer began to accumulate energy in its eyes, preparing a fatal blow for Hogun.

Fandral, who had already run up to a rooftop, found his chance, leaping through the air and slashing the Destroyer with his long blade. But this level of attack could not disrupt the Destroyer's energy accumulation.

In a critical moment, Sif quickly thrust her spear, piercing the Destroyer's neck and pinning the massive machine to the ground.

"Phew~ That scared me. I thought I was going to die on Midgard." Hogun said, relieved. If that laser had hit him, he would have surely perished there.

"Don't worry, I've got your back. Even if you die, I'll send your body back to Asgard," Sif teased with a smile.

"I can't believe the Destroyer's head is so hard," Fandral said, looking at his slightly chipped blade with resignation.

"See, I told you they could handle it," Thor said, also relieved that his friends were fine.

To everyone's surprise, the Destroyer suddenly moved! Its entire body began to rotate, aiming its head at Sif, who was on its back. Sif reacted quickly, leaping away and dodging the Destroyer's laser blast.

However, she couldn't dodge the Destroyer's punch. She was smashed into a nearby building by the Destroyer's fist, which was the size of a small car.

Boom!
