**Chapter 6: Unraveling Deceit**
Laila's eyes scanned the familiar surroundings of her home, but everything felt different now. The warmth and love she once associated with this place had been replaced by a sense of unease and distrust. Suddenly this place didn't seem like home anymore, the warmth had turned cold and the happiness had turned to an unusual sadness.
As she settled into her routine, Laila began to notice little things that hadn't caught her attention before. Peter's evasive behavior, Nina's overly friendly demeanor, and the subtle changes in the way the staff interacted with her.
Determined to uncover the truth, Laila started digging deeper into Peter's financial dealings. She spent hours poring over documents, searching for any discrepancies or suspicious transactions.
Meanwhile, Peter seemed oblivious to Laila's growing suspicions. He continued to charm her with his usual affectionate behavior, but Laila saw right through it. She knew it was all a ruse, a clever act designed to keep her in the dark. She noticed the way he sometimes made excuses to leave the house or travel, and somewhere deep down she knew he spent all those times with Nina.
As the days passed, Laila's investigation led her to some startling discoveries. She found evidence of Peter's secret accounts, hidden transactions, and clandestine meetings with unknown individuals. He had been using her company to back up and cover his dirty work. The company was just a shield.
With each new revelation, Laila's anger and determination grew. She was more convinced than ever that Peter was hiding something big, and she was determined to expose him.
But as she dug deeper, Laila realized that she was playing with fire. Peter's web of deceit was complex, and she risked getting burned if she wasn't careful. She knew he was going to try and take a stand for himself, he wouldn't back off so easily, once he found out that she knew about his deceit he would try to prove his innocence, so Laila decides to make use of him being unaware to her full advantage.
Despite the risks, Laila was resolute. She would uncover the truth, no matter what it took. The question was, how far would she have to go to get to the bottom of Peter's deceit?
The morning sun shone bright in the sky early in the morning, welcoming another new day as Laila got up to get ready, going to the bathroom to take her bath. Finally coming out of the bathroom with a bath robe on her and a towel around her hair, she dried her hair with the towel before using the hair dryer. She looked through the closet before picking out a black suit trouser and jacket and a white chiffon singlet, putting them on with a long coat over it as the weather was cold, her coat was long behind, passing her knees to stop above her ankles, pairing them with black heels.
As she got ready, Peter walked into the room. "Oh you going out babe?" Laila turned to see him walk to the closet, picking out his suit for the day, she usually does that for him but then she stopped.
"Yeah." She replied "to the office." Her words had Peter stop in his tracks, he turned to her looking at her as she began applying her makeup.
"To the office?" He asked, gulping down the ball that had unknowingly rose in his throat. "Why-uh I mean, you should rest and recuperate. You'll tire yourself out my love" he said, trying to talk her into staying back. Peter knew that although he married a sweet wife that didn't mean she wasn't smart, if she got even a slight whiff of what was going on behind her back then he would have a lot to deal with.
"I need to go back to work, I can't sit here idle," Laila's voice sound emotionless, where she didn't turn to look at him.
"But-"
"I've rested enough, besides it is my company. I need to make sure that it's flourishing well." Laila cut him off as she stood up, her words enunciating the 'my' and 'flourishing'. "I won't be joining you for breakfast as I am already leaving." She picked up her black hand bag that she had already prepared to use and her car keys, walking towards Peter as he stood there, she gave him a peck on his cheeks with a sweet smile. "I'll see you later."

Laila sat in her office, surrounded by stacks of financial documents and records. She had been digging through Peter's transactions for hours, and her eyes were starting to blur. But she refused to give up. She was determined to uncover the truth about Peter's financial dealings.
As she pored over the documents, Laila's eyes widened in shock. She had found evidence of several suspicious transactions, including:
\\- A large transfer of funds to an offshore account in the Cayman Islands
\\- A series of payments to a company called "GreenTech Inc." that Laila had never heard of
\\- A loan to Peter's friend, Alex, for a substantial amount of money
Laila's mind was racing with questions. What was Peter doing with all this money? And why was he hiding it from her?
Just then, Peter walked into the office. "Hey, sweetheart," he said, smiling. "What are you up to?"
Laila's eyes narrowed. "Just going over some financial reports," she said, trying to keep her tone neutral.
Peter's expression changed, and he looked slightly nervous. "Oh, okay. Do you need any help with that?"
Laila shook her head. "No, I've got it covered. But I did notice some discrepancies in the accounts. Can you explain these transactions to me?"
Peter's eyes flicked to the documents on Laila's desk, and for a moment, she thought she saw a flash of panic. But then, he smiled and said, "Oh, those are just some business deals I've been working on. Nothing to worry about."
Laila raised an eyebrow. "Business deals? With GreenTech Inc.? I've never heard of them."
Peter shrugged. "It's a new company I'm working with. They're a tech startup, and I'm helping them with some funding."
Laila's skepticism grew. "And what about the transfer to the Cayman Islands? What's that about?"
Peter's expression turned defensive. "That's just a tax haven, okay? It's a common practice in business."
Laila's eyes locked onto Peter's. "I see," she said, her voice cold. "Well, I think I'd like to know more about these business deals of yours. Can you show me the contracts and agreements?"
Peter's smile faltered, and for a moment, Laila saw a glimmer of fear in his eyes. "I... uh... I don't think that's necessary," he said.
Laila's eyes narrowed, she smiled. "I think it's very necessary," she said, her voice firm. "Let's see the documents, Peter."
