I was about to speak when I froze—Keanu was approaching. Oh shit. Not good.
I grabbed August's hand, pulling him behind the office table. He opened his mouth, probably to speak, but I quickly covered it with my hand. We were dangerously close to each other, but the priority now was clear: we cannot be seen by Keanu. My heart was racing. If he saw us… I didn't even want to imagine it.
I looked at him, and he was just staring at me, like I was the only person in the world.
I had no idea what was going on in his head. Why had Keanu taken so long to leave? Who exactly was he looking for?
The sound of Keanu's footsteps finally faded as he exited the music room. I exhaled slowly, letting my hand drop from August's mouth. I was about to pull away when, unexpectedly, he hugged me.
"Don't leave me, Solar," he murmured, his voice low and desperate.
"What now, August? I still have class," I said seriously, trying to push him gently away.
