My body sags before I can stop it, and hot breath escapes me as I lean against his rigid chest.
"I'm… not feeling too good," I whisper, as I swallow weakly.
The words sound weak… Pathetic…
Like I'm asking for permission to collapse. But I can't help it.
His grip adjusts slightly, and something about his hold on me soothes me a bit.
"When is your heat cycle due?" he asks quietly, and I pause to think.
"My—" I swallow. "Not yet," I add with my voice coming out rough, but he doesn't rush me.
"It's not supposed to start yet… Not for another week." I add, as I look up at him, and his gaze sharpens.
My brows crease as he grabs my chin and tilts slightly so my neck, where the inhibitor patch is, is revealed.
"And the patch?" He questions, and I shake my head faintly.
Another wave of heat rolls through me, and I suck in a breath.
"I've never…" I pause, struggling for the words.
"It's never broken through before," I reply, struggling to properly articulate my thoughts.
