Deep in the expanse of space lay a planet isolated from all. The world known as Silas. Made of 5 humongous continents each covering a portion of the planet.
On one such continent known as Lexoria, lay the foundation of the human race. The largest of the 5 continents and home to some of Silas' finest human warriors and mages.
The 5 houses who rule over the vast land each have stories that cement them into the annals of history, although, it has been forgotten by most.
One such house, The house of Lumine. They bear an emblem of a star symbolizing the illumination of all, and a sword of light piercing through the star vertically showing that they are a Clan of warriors.
Today marks the first day of 256 AW, and the house of Lumine is welcoming their newest member of the family.
...
"Just a little longer Master Lead, the lady is strong and i believe she will succeed." said an old man no older than 70 stood in front of a wide desk, a trace of unease in his voice.
He is the head butler of the Lumine family, Draven, and has served 2 heads of the family throughout his life.
Sitting at the desk in front of him was a man of wide proportions. his shoulders seemingly holding the weight of the world.
He bore gold robes with mystical patters draped along his tall, muscular body and his golden hair only seen by those of the Lumine family was disheveled, unlike his usual composed and radiant self.
"If she doesn't survive, I swear to Lumen, I myself will march on those delven fuckers" he said, rage filling his voice.
'please be okay lady, otherwise the head will truly lose his mind' draven lamented inwardly.
It has been 16 years since the main family have produced another descendant, and they knew that this would be the last.
The lady of the house, Emilia, was of commoner decent, not a single drop of noble blood in her.
Yet through sheer determination she had risen through the ranks of the world and became the wife to the Sword of light, Lead.
She had given birth to 3 boys and 2 girls, and now the 4th boy was on the way.
A couple weeks ago, while travelling back from the capital of the continent after visiting her family, she was caught up in an attack from the Beastman clan known as Draven.
Although the 5 continents were each ruled by 5 different races, many of these different races freely travelled through the world.
On the surface all looked quite well, with races mingling among each other in trade and pleasure.
however, under the surface lay a history fraught with deception and constant war.
Emilia was just one unlucky victim of one of many senseless attacks from a beast race, as sometimes their instincts took over, causing them to become mindless beasts out for blood.
Emilia was by no means weak, but carrying her child had caused her to become disoriented, leading to an unexpected attack which put her into critical condition.
Luckily the child remained unharmed for the most part, however, her health was waning by the moment.
The family doctors struggled to find a way to recover her vitality, leading to even more complications.
Suddenly, the noise in the childbirth room stopped.
Lead snapped his head to the side, towards the bedroom, he immediately rose to his feet and ran across the main estate to see his wife and child. Draven followed closely behind.
He approached the room, his heart pounding with concern.
The room was guarded by the families' elite guards, when they saw the family head approaching, they swiftly stood aside from the doorway to make way.
He gathered his composure and entered cautiously.
There, he saw a sight that he thought would only appear in his dreams.
His wife covered in blood, and the doctors cutting into her womb to free the baby.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING" His wrathful voice laying an unbearable pressure on the doctors.
Their knees buckled under the weight of a thousand suns bearing down on them.
"Sire, please restrain yourself" Draven managed to squeeze out under the pressure.
In an instant the pressure was released and he stepped towards his unconscious wife.
"Patriarch, we only wanted to ensure the child would survive as Lady Emilias' health is in a rapid decline, there is nothing we can do to save her." one of the doctors meekly said.
"So you tried to kill her" Lead said, as he shot the doctor a glance filled with malice.
"We only tried to save the one we could" the doctor responded.
'sigh' Lead lamented inwardly,
'it seems like thats the only way'
"Draven, Bring the 'the sun'" he said
"Are you sure sire, only those of your direct lineage can consume it" Draven said, a look of shock on his face.
'The sun' is a miraculous pill formed by extremely rare herbs and the unique properties of the mana that comes from the Lumine bloodline.
Due to this, the family head, at the time of their ascendance, spends 100 days infusing the pill with every ounce of their energy, creating the pill for the next heir.
This makes it so that only one is made every generation, and the children of the main family go crazy over it, as obtaining means that your ascendence to head is guaranteed.
"bring it, NOW" He shouted, and Draven ran to the family vault to retrieve it.
After 5 minutes, Draven re-entered the room with an extremely luxurious box, warm energy seeping through.
Lead grabbed the box and slowly opened it, revealing a small round ball shining as bright as the sun.
The doctors and guards in the room covered their eyes under the blinding light, this is why it is called 'the sun'
Slowly he picked up the pill and fed it to Emilia.
A bright energy began coursing through her veins, revitalizing her cells with light.
It began to gather in her core, yet her body could not accept the energy, and so, it was sent to the only one who could.
The child.
Her womb shone with a light so bright, you could see the baby in her womb basking in a pool of light.
"GASP" a sudden breath of air from Emilia set the room alight as the doctors began to seal the cut they had made and prepared for childbirth.
Emilia looked at Lead with a defeated look
"why, why would you do that husband, you should have just sa-"
"No" Lead responded, warmth with a slight coldness in his voice.
"I will not just save the child, he needs a mother."
he grabbed her hand and said one more word
"so, push"
...
In the main quarters of the estate, Emilia lay on a luxurious bed, clutching her newborn son.
Lead was sat on the side of the bed watching his wife coddle their child
"this child' he said stroking the child's hair, "is our sun, so we need a fitting name"
"How about....Lucian" Emilia responded, while looking at her son with a gaze so warm, it was almost as if she had already resolved herself to never let this child go.
"I like it, Lucian it is, a strong name." Lead was overjoyed, it had been 16 years since his last child and he no longer wanted to have any more children, until he did.
But he swore this would be the last, as his wife was also getting old.
They were 55 and 46 respectively.
"the other children wont like what you did you know" Emilia said to Lead concerningly.
"who cares what they think, they have received much more than this little one." Lead responded
"But he will eventually end up receiving more, he will be hated by them, especially the former youngest. He always thought he would be the one to receive the sun."
"Lucas? he better not say anything, he already received that sword, i doubt he could want any more."
"perhaps" Emilia said in turn.
"We will have to play this smart, lest those snobby elders start to get involved, which we know they will. they can never mind their own business. What was your grandfather thinking implementing this system."
"Just some bullshit about checks and balances, it ensures that the family head does not abuse their power, but most of the elders themselves are selfish pricks." Lead said dejectedly.
"We just have to support this one as much as we can, we can't show him too much favor, but we must."
'sigh' Emilia had an idea of how to protect Lucian without catching the attention of the elders but she didn't know if her husband would agree.
Just when she was about to bring it up, Leads voice cut through her thoughts.
"What about your family? they can protect this child without the elders knowing"
"I was just about to say that" Emilia said smiling, sometimes they just seemed to know each other's thoughts, a sign that they have both reached an extremely high level, in both love and war.
"Very well, I'll contact your father and ask him, if all goes to plan, then the elders will have no idea what we're doing. Draven, can you grab me some writing utensils."
"Yes sir, i will have them down in a moment." he reached for the door and slowly left the room.
Lead and Emilia continued to stare at the baby as if it was the most precious thing in the world.
'this child will be the greatest to ever come from my blood, i can feel it' Lead said inwardly.
