At that moment, it all made sense to Matteo, and of course it made sense. Everything just came together like a puzzle.
The way Arlo was smiling while chopping off the heads, the way he didn't seem to care about the brutality of it, the way he didn't even have a single bad thought about it… now it all made sense.
He killed his own father, not just killed him but chopped off his head… and well for Arlo, there is nothing that can get into his head. There is no darkness for those who are already born in the darkness, for those who are for the darkness, those who gave themselves to it, to be engulfed by it and mix it with the experience he had as a child.
He grew up in it, where violence wasn't an answer for everything, but it was everything.
There were no answers, no questions, just straight-up violence. That is what he saw, that is what he experienced, and that is why he doesn't give a single fuck about any of it, that is why it doesn't get to his head.
