Chapter 7 - 7 Infernal Overdrive

A flash of white light swept past, and the world before Zayne changed completely.

He found himself standing in a dense forest where the sunlight filtered through layers of leaves, breaking into shimmering patterns across his body.

Random teleportation? Good. Saves me the trouble of distancing myself from the others. Zayne stretched lazily before starting his monster hunting journey.

He had barely walked a short distance when he encountered a plump, cat like creature covered in fluffy pink fur. It looked adorably round, like a living plush toy that would melt any girl's heart.

A level one Pink Panther Cat?

Zayne was not fooled. Cute as it appeared, the creature was a real monster capable of biting through an adult's throat with ease.

The Pink Panther Cat rolled on the ground, purring loudly, trying to lure Zayne closer for a fatal strike.

Zayne's response was simple. He raised his right hand.

Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall.

Boom.

Thunder rumbled down from above. The Pink Panther Cat let out a sharp meow, nearly losing its mind. All it wanted was to hunt for food, not get smited by thunder.

Against Zayne, who opened with forbidden spells, the creature could not even run. The bolt turned it into charcoal instantly.

Kill confirmed. Level one Pink Panther Cat. Reward 10 experience.

Only ten experience for a level one monster? I would need to kill one hundred to reach level two. Too slow. Since all my spells are forbidden spells, I should try pushing deeper into the forest.

Zayne vanished into the trees.

Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall.

Kill confirmed. Level two Killer Wasp. Reward 25 experience.

Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall.

Kill confirmed. Level three Grey Wolf. Reward 40 experience.

Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall.

Kill confirmed. Level five Jungle Harpy. Reward 600 experience.

The quiet forest erupted into chaos. Bolts of lightning crashed down again and again as if the heavens were enraged.

Wherever Zayne walked, whether the monster was level one or level five, he treated them all the same. A forbidden spell to the face. Equality for all living things.

With each cast, he became more skilled. There was no casting delay anymore. He could release the spell instantly.

With such a monstrous leveling speed, he quickly reached level two.

Considering he had only been in the dungeon for about an hour, leveling once every hour was the sort of pace that would cause others' jaws to drop.

Upon leveling, Zayne unlocked a new forbidden spell.

Name: Zayne

Class: Forbidden Spellcaster

Level: 2 13.14 percent

Strength: 20

Agility: 30

Spirit: 60

Class Talent: Endless Spellcraft. Each level unlocks a new forbidden spell.

Skills: Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall, Forbidden Spell Infernal Overdrive

Forbidden Spell Worldbane Thunderfall. The caster sacrifices part of their body to summon world ending thunder. More vital sacrifices summon higher grade lightning. At the highest tier summons Abyssborn Thunderfall. Power scales with level and spirit.

Forbidden Spell Infernal Overdrive. The caster burns their own life force to massively boost strength, agility, and spirit.

Note: Forbidden Spellcaster releases forbidden spells with no cost and no cooldown.

Beneath the Infernal Overdrive description, an extra line appeared.

Note: Infernal Overdrive consumes life force severely. Life force lost cannot be recovered. Use this skill with caution.

Use with caution, huh?

Zayne nodded obediently and immediately shouted.

Forbidden Spell Infernal Overdrive.

A crimson blaze ignited around him. His life force was burning, vaporizing even his blood into scarlet flame.

At the same time, his strength, agility, and spirit all doubled. His spirit surged to an overwhelming 120.

What an insane forbidden spell. With Infernal Overdrive active, even level ten monsters might not withstand a full powered Worldbane Thunderfall.

Immersed in the thrill of power, he failed to notice his hair turning white. His skin wrinkled, his posture bent, and his once clear eyes grew cloudy.

In just five minutes, Zayne aged from a teenager into an elderly man.

He raised his hand and studied the withered skin.

Aged this much in five minutes? To avoid suspicion, I can only maintain Infernal Overdrive for about one minute in front of others.

Instead of deactivating the spell, Zayne let the life force burn. Then, strangely, his aged body began reversing. Wrinkles smoothed, his hair regained color, his vitality returned.

Immortality meant infinite life force. Infernal Overdrive's fatal drawback meant nothing to him.

Individually, immortality and Forbidden Spellcaster each had huge flaws. Combined, they created a walking calamity capable of flooding the world with forbidden spells.

Zayne, still under Infernal Overdrive, launched a new massacre.

With his spirit at 120 and the ring Norton gave him adding another ten, he reached a terrifying 130 spirit. Even the most basic thunder he summoned struck like an apocalyptic lightning dragon.

He was confident he could clear the entire dungeon.

Kill confirmed. Level five Twinheaded Serpent. Reward 60 experience.

Kill confirmed. Level six Iron Scorpion. Reward 80 experience.

Kill confirmed. Level six Centaur. Reward 80 experience.

The deeper he went, the stronger the monsters became. Level five and above appeared constantly.

Yet against level two Zayne, they were like fragile paper dolls. One bolt and they were gone.

Thunder rained across the forest, filling the air with the scent of roasted meat.

Zayne became increasingly skilled, looking like a thunder god descended. One lift of his hand, one blast of a forbidden spell.

This beginner dungeon is indeed full of danger. Truly a refreshing experience.
