Chapter 8 - Zombie Virus

Both of them, like dry wood meeting fire, began kissing each other fiercely, completely forgetting the world outside that was filled with zombies and death.

Nanoe was clumsy at first, but she gradually became more skillful, slipping her wet tongue into Rover's mouth.

He responded fiercely, devouring her tongue.

"Um… mm…"

Soft moans seeped from Nanoe's lips, small yet dripping with desire. She refused to lose, wrapped her lips around his tongue, and sucked hard.

"Ugh!"

Rover felt a sting on his tongue from her intense suction, but the pain only heightened his pleasure, making his mind swim.

He didn't know how long they kissed, but suddenly, the sound of pounding echoed.

BAM! BAM!

"Ha… ha… ha…"

Both of them jolted apart, panting heavily as they looked at each other. A sticky strand of saliva stretched between their lips, then broke into a droplet and fell.

Nanoe's face flushed red, her eyes wet and seductive. She cupped his head, leaning in, wanting to kiss him again.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The pounding returned. Rover pressed his index finger to her soft lips and whispered with a smile, "Later. Not right now."

Hearing that, Nanoe nodded obediently and gave him a light kiss. It was like a dragonfly brushing past the water's surface, quick and fleeting.

She stepped back, not wanting to distract him.

Rover stood and peered outside through the invisible slot, seeing several zombies gathering near his door.

"It must be the gunshots," he murmured. "But there aren't many. Maybe… I can try taking them out."

He counted around seven zombies. Two were attacking his door, while the other five were striking nearby rooms.

"That is…"

Rover looked around and suddenly stiffened. Beside the corpses of the three zombies he had killed earlier, faint white-glowing items were scattered.

Near the zombie that attacked Nanoe was a canned fish.

Near the other two zombies lay several silver coins and three pieces of bread.

"Killing zombies drops items?" Rover was stunned. "This world really is like a game."

He stepped back and whispered to Nanoe, "Move aside. I'm going out."

"What?!" Nanoe gasped and rushed to stop him. "No! There must be many zombies outside. You'll die!"

"Don't worry!" Rover grinned. "I fear death even more than you do. If I die, how would I ever get to sleep with you?"

Nanoe's face turned scarlet, her heart pounding violently in embarrassment.

Rover twirled the pistol in his hand and continued, "Besides… I have a gun now. I'll just open the door, shoot a few times, then close it immediately. They won't be able to get inside."

Nanoe hesitated, then finally nodded. "Rover, I trust you. If you die, I'll die with you."

Hearing this, Rover also noticed her Affection rating for him rising to 92 percent. Her Omni Point yield had increased too.

'Looks like Omni Point yield scales with affection,' Rover thought.

"Don't say unlucky things." Rover stroked her beautiful face and smiled. "We will survive."

Nanoe nodded and stepped back.

Rover sat down on the floor about two meters from the door, took a deep breath, and mentally commanded: 'Open the door!'

Crack!

The door swung open. Before the zombies could rush in…

DANG! DANG! DANG!

Three gunshots rang out. The two zombies at the doorway had their heads blown apart instantly, collapsing on the floor.

At such a close distance of two meters, even without training, Rover could easily make the shots.

The upgraded pistol had over twice the power of a regular one, bursting zombie heads like overripe melons.

Rover didn't rush out. He sat calmly on the ground, waiting for the zombies in the hallway to hear the gunfire and charge toward him.

DANG! DANG! DANG!

DANG! DANG! DANG!

Six more shots rang out in succession, and the remaining four zombies collapsed, leaving behind a pile of supplies and silver coins scattered across the floor.

Rover hurried toward the doorway, scanning the surroundings with sharp vigilance. When he saw another zombie rushing at him, he immediately raised his gun and…

DANG!

Because the distance was too far, the first bullet only struck its abdomen.

"Tsk!" Rover clicked his tongue, steadied his aim, then fired again.

DANG!

This time he succeeded. The zombie's head exploded, and it fell lifeless to the floor.

Rover exhaled in relief but didn't dare waste a moment. He quickly activated the [Reclaim] function on the corpses.

Just then, the door of the room beside his suddenly opened.

Crack!

A young man bolted out, running straight for the canned fish beside the zombie Rover had killed earlier. Greed shone bright in his eyes.

DANG!

"AGH!!"

Without hesitation, Rover fired at him.

It was a reckless shot, yet the bullet pierced through the young man's knee, making him scream miserably as blood gushed out.

Rover felt no sympathy. Instead, he frowned and said coldly, "I risked my life killing zombies, and you want to reap the rewards without lifting a finger?"

The young man clutched his leg, contorted in pain. Through clenched teeth, he spat, "Bastard! You selfish animal, killing zombies is so easy for you! Can't you spare me some food? A selfish piece of trash like you will…"

DANG!

Rover didn't bother wasting words. He shot the man's other thigh.

"AGH!!!!"

The man screamed miserably, his face twisting even further in agony, sweat pouring down like rain.

Rover ignored him entirely. The writhing man on the floor was no different from a salted leech to him. He continued reclaiming the remaining zombie corpses.

[You have reclaimed a total of 10 zombies. Gained 30 Omni Points. Current Omni Points: 49]

Rover's face brightened with joy.

Not only Omni Points, but he also collected 80 silver coins, some food, and a small test tube containing a green liquid.

It sounded like a long sequence of events, but from the moment Rover opened the door to kill zombies until he finished gathering loot, the entire process took less than two minutes.

He was about to return to his room when he noticed the young man—whom he had shot twice in the legs—crawling toward his own room, desperately trying to drag himself inside.

Rover paused for three seconds.

In the end, he decided not to kill him.

It wasn't because Rover was kind-hearted, nor because he suddenly felt pity. It was simply because he wanted to squeeze every advantage possible out of the man.

Even though the young man was severely injured and useless against zombies, he still had his own room.

If everyone on this floor died except Rover, then all zombies would inevitably focus on his door.

But if others were still alive, they could share some of the attention, giving Rover extra breathing room to defend himself.

Rover didn't spare another glance and stepped back inside his room, closing the door.

"Rover!" Nanoe rushed to him in worry, scanning him from head to toe. Seeing he wasn't hurt at all, she let out a long, relieved breath.

"What's wrong? Afraid of losing me?" Rover teased.

Nanoe blushed but didn't deny it, simply nodding lightly.

Rover didn't say anything else. He sat down immediately, resting while checking his newly gained items.

'180 silver coins, 49 Omni Points, some food, and a strange test tube.' Rover thought as his gaze settled on the green liquid.
