Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: White Slime

"Done…" Ei casually tossed the baseball bat, and it vanished into thin air.

There were no enemies in front of her, only the ruins of two watchtowers.

This was also the strange thing about Hilichurls; after they died, their bodies would mysteriously disappear.

Only their shattered masks would remain.

This point was very similar to the Antimatter Legion; they would completely dissipate after death.

Ei naturally collected the items that fell to the ground into her pouch; perhaps they wouldn't sell for much, but every little bit helps.

For her, who was short on money, she had to seize every opportunity to earn some.

After cleaning up the battlefield, Ei was content and ready to head back.

It wasn't too late yet; after getting the Reward for the commission, she could go to the Cat's Tail Tavern to pay off her last bill and ask Diona to mix her a drink…

"Hmm?"

As soon as Ei turned around, she saw a purple figure standing on the only path back.

The other person's skin was somewhat pale, with dark circles under her eyes, making her look listless.

However, what caught Ei's attention the most was the white Slime on her chest.

She looked at hers, then looked down at her own.

There was absolutely no comparison; she was completely outmatched.

"You are very impressive," Rosaria said slowly.

He had originally thought about helping out, but he hadn't expected Ei's stamina to be surprisingly good.

Even as waves of Hilichurl reinforcements attacked, under the continuous onslaught, the Grey-haired girl was still able to swing that bat with impressive force.

"Uh, thank you," Ei snapped back to reality, a slightly embarrassed smile appearing on her small face.

It wasn't because of the other person's compliment, but because she had been staring at that area for a long time.

Fortunately, the other person didn't seem to notice her gaze, which made Ei breathe a sigh of relief.

"Wait, speaking of which, it was you who led me here, wasn't it?" Ei suddenly realized, looking at the person dressed as a nun in front of her, and quickly asked.

"Hmph… What a stubborn fellow," Rosaria didn't directly answer Ei's question, only snorted lightly and uttered a harmless taunt.

If he hadn't finally revealed himself and used forceful means to compel the Damselette to change her route, she would probably still be wandering aimlessly in the wilderness right now.

Thinking of this, Rosaria carefully, from top to bottom, scrutinized Ei.

He had been following Ei for a long time, but this was the first time he had observed her from such a close distance.

Even though Rosaria considered himself to have no particular aesthetic sense, he had to admit that the Damselette's appearance was very alluring.

Although her brain didn't seem particularly sharp, her looks were indeed very good.

"…" Ei blinked, looking at the other person with a slightly innocent expression.

She seemed not to understand why she would call herself single-minded.

"Looking at your attire, are you a nun from Mondstadt?" Since the other person was just staring at her without speaking, Stelle had no choice but to initiate the conversation.

Although her outfit looked a bit provocative, it was still vaguely recognizable as a nun's habit.

"Doesn't it look like it?" Rosaria asked, expressionless, as she looked at Stelle.

"Well… it's certainly a bit different from other nuns." Stelle rubbed her head, giving a dry laugh.

She was just being honest; nuns were not uncommon in Mondstadt, and Stelle had seen several yesterday.

Their nun habits were all quite normal, but the one Rosaria was wearing… "Your name." Rosaria asked, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Stelle."

"Hmm… not lying, good."

"...And you?" Stelle's mouth twitched slightly as she retorted.

"Rosaria, but you don't need to remember me. Since the mission is complete, hurry back." Rosaria shook her head, then turned and left.

"Hey, wait…" Stelle had just raised her hand to try and stop her, but the other person quickly disappeared.

This left her feeling utterly bewildered, and she once again fell into self-doubt.

Could it be that her constitution didn't affect adult women? Rosaria seemed quite normal… Thinking about it carefully, if that were truly the case, it would actually be a good thing.

"Ugh~ Time to go back!" Stelle stretched, quickly putting Rosaria out of her mind.

She needed to get back to Mondstadt as soon as possible and turn in the commission.

The money this time should be enough to get her by for a few days.

---

"Phew…" Rosaria slowly exhaled, turning her head to look behind her.

The Damselette hadn't followed, as she had walked very quickly, one might even say she fled.

"What exactly is going on with that brat?" Rosaria leaned against a tree, frowning.

When she was following from a distance, she hadn't felt much, but face-to-face conversation with the Damselette was different.

She had only stared at the other person for a moment before her body inexplicably began to feel hot.

She had never experienced this feeling before; it was like being cursed, with evil thoughts constantly bubbling up inside her.

Her gaze towards the Damselette also became strange.

She could imagine that the way she had just looked at the Damselette was probably similar to how those people in the bandit group used to look at her.

She was strong; the people in the bandit group were no match for her, but that Damselette had no Vision and couldn't use elemental power, so she probably wouldn't be a match for her either.

If she hadn't controlled herself just now, something terrible might have happened.

Rosaria would never claim to be a good person; her grip was exceptionally strong, she knew human weak points like the back of her hand, and she felt no negative emotions about killing.

Therefore, when facing suspicious individuals, she would show no mercy in interrogation.

But everything she did was for Mondstadt; a city as happy and uninteresting as this always needed people to do the dirty work, and she felt no guilt about it.

However, if she had lost control here and done something unforgivable to that Damselette… that wouldn't be interrogating a suspicious person, but indulging in lust.

In that case, it couldn't be explained away with a simple "for Mondstadt."

So she quickly chose to turn and flee, not daring to look into the Damselette's clear golden eyes again.

Otherwise, according to her habits, she would at least have to scare the Damselette a little, to make sure she didn't harbor any improper thoughts about Mondstadt.

"Tsk, troublesome." Rosaria shook her head, and after calming down for a moment, she got up and walked towards Mondstadt.

That Damselette held a fatal attraction for her; she had to stay away.

But at the same time, there were still many mysteries surrounding the Damselette, and she still needed to be monitored.

This job was getting harder and harder.
