Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Strong Princess

The new D-class was no different from the previous one.

After only four or five questions, he was fully controlled by the die.

Whether it was breathing, blinking, or answering Dr. Semur's questions, he relied on the die to decide.

When the experiment reached the sixth question, research staff entered the room with Dr. Semur's permission to try to take the die from his hand.

They were met with intense resistance.

The D-class clutched the die with all his strength and refused to let go.

Only after the die was forcibly taken did he suddenly "wake up," staring at his hand in confusion.

As though he didn't understand what had just happened.

"Doctor, the first report is finished."

Dr. Semur's assistant handed him the compiled information.

Containment Object: Question-Answer Die

Item Number: AO-313

Item Class: Euclid

Description: AO-313 is a batch of individually wrapped dice. The six faces are replaced with two "Yes," two "No," and two "Maybe."

All samples are made from processed pine wood. Their surfaces are treated with yellow dye and a standard anti-abrasion chemical sealant.

The lettering in MS Comic Sans is composed of trace carbon powder, dye stabilizer, and [REDACTED].

Each clean plastic package carries a cardboard backing marked with the words "The Factory."

AO-313 activates upon direct contact with human skin.

Subjects will feel a strong urge to use it.

They then ask a binary question and roll the die.

The die gives an answer. If it gives "Maybe," the subject continues rolling until "Yes" or "No" appears.

The subject will obey the answer absolutely, regardless of the consequences.

Over time, even unconscious decisions will require the die's judgment.

Recommended Containment: Store AO-313 in opaque locked containers. (All non-contained samples should be destroyed.)

Dr. Semur skimmed it and set it aside.

The experiment was not finished yet. It was too early to talk about destroying samples.

For now, the die was not extremely dangerous.

As long as no one actively used it, it remained a harmless craft item.

Though one that could kill ordinary people.

"Dr. Semur, may I go now?"

Rojin, who had been quietly standing to the side, spoke.

He felt completely out of place here.

Everyone in this room, even the least educated, had at least a doctorate.

A high schooler like Rojin standing among them felt like a husky wandering into a wolf pack, or a spotted dog mixed into a herd of cows.

Just uncomfortable.

He didn't understand any of their technical terms.

He wasn't even qualified to pretend he understood.

"Oh, you can go."

Dr. Semur turned toward Rojin with a faintly confused look, as if wondering when this person had appeared in the room.

After two seconds, he remembered who Rojin was.

He waved his hand to dismiss him.

As Rojin was leaving, Dr. Semur casually added:

"Remember to undergo psychological testing and correction."

For every special-operations soldier, it was mandatory.

Not only by regulation—but for their own safety.

"Alright, Doctor."

Rojin nodded lightly and closed the door.

Next, he planned to do his psychological evaluation, then figure out what to do afterward.

He felt a little bad leaving school like this. Maybe he should go back and attend a class or two?

While Rojin was dealing with his side of things, Dr. Semur was giving orders.

"Is the ghoul ready?"

"He has been brought in, Doctor."

A pale-faced man was pushed into the room by researchers.

Unlike the D-class subjects, this man was tightly bound by special restraints.

His mouth was covered by a metal muzzle.

He could speak, but eating was impossible.

After entering, he froze, showing clear resistance.

Seeing this, the research staff shoved him into the chair.

Click. Click.

Two crisp sounds rang out. The man was locked to the chair.

"Begin the experiment."

Dr. Semur's voice came from the speaker.

The pale man tilted his eyes toward the monitor and stayed silent.

Dr. Semur didn't mind.

He had seen plenty of uncooperative subjects.

In the end, they all cooperated obediently.

"Prepare to use force."

"Understood."

The researcher touched his earpiece, nodded, and left the room.

The man in the chair twitched an ear.

He seemed to think he had an opening to escape and grew restless.

"Don't move."

A cold gun barrel pressed against the back of his head.

All ambition vanished instantly.

Fine. Best not act rashly.

Meanwhile, away from the lab, Rojin encountered a small problem.

"Um… may I help you with something?"

Facing the spoiled princess hugging a stuffed bear, Rojin felt like today was truly a cursed day.

He had been planning to return to school, and then ran into this woman.

Don't be fooled by how delicate she looked—if they fought, Rojin wasn't confident he'd win.

This was a princess with the record of beating a demon king half to death.

For a good night's sleep, she had once beaten up every monster in the demon king's castle.

Even among all past heroes, only a handful could achieve that kind of battle record.

Her combat strength was unquestionable.

"I'm looking for new pillow materials."

Syalis let out a yawn, her eyes glistening with a few tears.

Clearly, she hadn't slept well last night.

On this matter, the containment subject who was beaten for over an hour this morning had plenty to say.

"So what are you trying to say?"

"I want some kind of fragrance I can stuff into my pillow."

Resting her chin on her hand, Princess Syalis explained.

She felt that would help her sleep better.

"I'll ask around."

Scratching his head, Rojin said he would help the princess inquire about such items later.

Satisfied, Princess Syalis turned and left.

Watching her figure, Rojin let out a helpless sigh.

This Tuesday was really exhausting.
