Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine

She can feel her eyelids closing slowly, but Olivia is fighting really well. She wants to see where they're going even if she cannot do anything to stop them. Her neck is barely holding her head as she feels very giddy.

Shut down.

She can't take it anymore. The drug's too much. She goes into a deep sleep.

Olivia snaps awake with rumbling gasps currently aware of her environment. She's presently in a strange room where everything is dark. Her mouth is gagged with a red towel and body tied to a chair. She struggles, trying to free herself from this hold but to no avail. It feels as though the devil himself spread out his arms to hug her against this chair so she wouldn't move.

Including her life.

It's working.

She still struggles to free herself regardless showing her unwavering strength. The chair scratches against the ground continuously causing creaking noises. She tries screaming, her yells blast through the towel inside her mouth but the noise is muffled—too quiet to attract any attention.

Not like she even knows where she is. She's all sweaty from struggling too much. Her raven hair plasters on top of her skin, her mind is dazed calculating what could possibly be her fate.

The door in the dark room unexpectedly opens, causing a jerking sensation in her heart. The only thing keeping her updated about the happenings around her is her ears, hearing the sound of boots hitting against the floor.

She feels a strong hand hold her tightly triggering her violent nature. The hand seems to be trying to untie the rope binding her.

The sudden show of the lights pierce through her eyes when the switch is turned on leaving her with a slight painful sensation. She's almost blinded by the bright light in the room but she soon gains her perfect vision back.

"Who are you people!? Let me go!" She thunders loudly. The two men manhandle her, dragging her out, her muscles collide with theirs. She's fighting with all her might—like she always has, but her victory is fiction. She thinks she can win, but life always negates her dreams; though she's relentless.

"Aaaaaah!! Let me go now!" There's silence, but trouble is so loud. Her adrenaline level in her blood is too high and she might faint. She's sure this isn't a police station so whoever ordered her kidnap instead of calling the cops wants harm to come her way. Possibly—death.

Where are you taking me to?! I said let me go!

Her adrenaline level shoots up causing her to stagger when she encounters a terrifying creature. A bull charging against a human like the animal it is, the mindless goblin full of wickedness. A monster without a heart.

Her chest jumps up when she sees the same man that tried to trap her. He is wearing the exact mask. She prays she doesn't know the face behind that mask because it'll be painful if he was recognizable.

She hasn't seen what he looked like before but his mask and stature sure is familiar —unforgettable.

His nice yet hoarse voice speaks, "You look sacred. Does my mask scare you?" He is seated on an executive chair next to the beautiful see- through glass view behind him in the office showing the wonderful night view of the city. "Why Olivia? Why did you do that to me? You nearly killed me."

Olivia is short of words. She doesn't know how to feel, it's like darkness has enveloped her entire being. She wants to tear this man's head apart, push his dead body off the building and burn it. Her teeth grits arrogantly but she can't move. She's pinned to the ground, he's seated like an exalted king on his chair with spread arms.

Olivia is angry. The awful memory is so vivid like a physical photo. She wants to rip it off.

The man continues to speak, "I meant no harm,"

"You deserve to burn in hell." She feels hurt.

"I'd like to interest you in a story," he says, removing his mask revealing a bruised swollen face. His eyes are purple and the entire look, irritating she almost vomits. "This is what I look like now because of you, Olivia. They had to stitch my head. I thought we'd have a fun time together but you just had to ruin it. We can still recreate that night if you can be a darling."

"You will not come close to me."

The man chuckles. He goes ahead to light his tobacco. "We'll have fun one way or the other. I have a story to tell you. It's about a fisherman and his puppy who he loved so much. This puppy of his had a play toy it cherished so much. This play toy of his glowed in the night on the boat on sea, the fisherman would do anything to protect this puppy; including making it happy. The dog's toy was a coin,"

The story kept sounding more and more ridiculous as he went on. "One night, the fisherman went on sea with his pet and accidentally, this coin the dog treasured so much fell into the sea. The puppy cried, it needed the coin. So this fisherman dived deep into the sea looking for the puppy's coin, but he never came back. That fisherman was your father."

"What're you talking about?"

"I am the man your father owed," the masked man says, "And now you owe me. You owe me big time Edmond Olivia."

"You couldn't possibly know my father. It's impossible."

"Oh, t'is. I am Ivarr Nolan by the way. Don Ivarr Nolan. I'm a nice man with special needs. You look like a beautiful girl with a lovely heart. You wouldn't want any harm to come near your family."

"You won't dare."

"You should be in prison by now. My social influence and money can move mountains. Also, I have the private CCTV footage from that night secretly installed by the manager. How about your younger brother? He'd make a good member of my gang."

"You won't dare," there's sorrow in her voice.

"Well I will," she shows a softer expression he reads as surrender. He stands from his seat, going closer to her. "I need you to work for me at the Me Midnight Club I newly opened a month ago for as long as I want. Your skills are needed. Many like a tough girl."

She grits her teeth. "I will never reduce myself to that."

"How about your mother? Is she in good health?"

"Don't you go there."

"I did research on your family and it turns out she isn't mentally okay. Can she take good care of your brother? Maybe she should go to the mental asylum to get the proper help she needs. Someone kind enough should call social services. Or I can help you put her to rest."

"What did I do to you?"

"When Damon approached me concerning Olivia Edmond. I thought you were just one of the common Edmonds in the world but I soon discovered it was the Edmond. The one who owed me money. You have a lot in common, you know. Zealous.. unwavering strength. You also resemble him," he touches the side of her face, and she cannot even do anything about it. "Sign the contract and come work for me. I swear darling, your family will not feel my wrath." His palm makes contact with her trickling tears.

The guard present in the room brings the contract documents. Olivia sniffs, still angry with knees pinned down to the floor.

Will you?

Her eyes scan the document, heated up, if looks could kill, this man and the contract would burn.
