Chapter 1 - Gray MF Bright

"Hehe, today I die!"

At that moment, the old monster was gleefully etching words into an obsidian tombstone... his own.

'Here lies Gray Bright'

'The entire world hated him'

'He remained unbroken and handsome until the very end, uniting the world under one banner. Nobel Peace Prize contender'

He wrote every line with enough drive to overshadow an aura farming character, all the while low-key displaying his dad bod. But he soon put the tombstone away.

He could hear them. The overpowered idiots had come to his lair to loudly remind him how much the world hated him

And so it would begin.

With hatred…

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"GRAYBRIGHT! You better wash your neck! Think we'll let a monster like you end the world?! In your freaking dreams!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Graybright, it's over! Righteous, Demonic, Ancient factions— all here to kill you. Even the Dragon of Agony won't save you this time!"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Millions? Billions? Devil! How many have you killed? Entire cities— gone! How much more do you want!? Today you pay for your sins, Graybright!"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Gray. What the hell happened to you? We came from the same Earth. We were supposed to save the world, you bastard! Surrender. Please. Let me end you with dignity. I'll show mercy and—"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"MERCY?! Where was mercy when Graybright annihilated my Moon Palace?! Where was mercy when he butchered the sons and sold the daughters?! Today there shall be no mercy. Only suffering until he begs for death!"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

It was always the same.

They saw the evil, not the endgame.

Gray Bright, or Graybright as most of them liked to scream, was nothing more than a broken monster in their eyes. They were wrong. He was already far beyond broken.

And now…

He sat on a throne of Agony, amidst a sea of blood, having just endured their last onslaught, yet he couldn't have looked more desolate had he tried.

Gray robes so tattered he barely felt them flutter in the wind. Tentacles crawling out of his flesh as if rats on a sinking ship. And a now missing head that he definitely couldn't recover from.

He would die today.

He knew, and yet he couldn't help but inwardly sigh in admiration, almost proud. They really were all there, even the haughty Empire.

They surrounded him, ready to make the last move– or close, still wary. They waited for his strength to fade. Even at death's door he still remained the Graybright.

'That's how you know you made it.'

'When even now they fear you.'

'Hehe, waiting's perfect.'

Hours passed, the wound at his neck gushing lifeblood every second, only adding to the blood sea around him.

Until he looked more corpse than human. And as he finally moved, they all tensed, taking huge leaps backwards in a hurry.

But he wasn't seeing them.

What flashed before his eyes were memories from a life far too long.

He used to be a student in a place called Earth before he got caught in a summon to another world. Just one amongst many.

Except he wasn't like other transmigrators. Unlike them he had been broken from the start. Defective. Worse than trash.

Actually, premium trash.

The Weakest Tamer in History.

An achievement more than deserved. It had taken him 500 years to get his first contract, one that could very well be worthless in the end. It would all depend on this moment.

He sighed, refocusing.

For the first time in the entire battle, he botherered to speak. After all, even now they still thought they had the upper hand, and part of him couldn't help but think it hillarious.

It was time to end it…

"Such an impressive lineup."

"Greed. Revenge. Duty. Legacy. Envy even. All of you here to kill little old me. Flattering."

"The perfect trap. One even a certain Apocalypse Lizard couldn't save me from. Still, isn't this trap 'of yours' a little too perfect?"

That's all he said. That's all he had to say. That and snapping his fingers, and with it the last layer of magic in his lair faltered, the one blocking magic transmissions.

Screams. Shouts. Panic.

Thousands of emergency messages chiming at once. Requests for backups. Requests for salvation. Requests–

While they waited for him to die… their loved ones were perishing in the outside world. No, they already had. Those few hours had sealed it. And for an instant Agony filled the world, creating a cloud of darkness before his eyes.

He felt it…

[+420 Agony XP!]

[+666 Agony XP!]

[+1337 Agony XP!]

Would it be enough?

Even he wasn't sure, but that's all he had left. And just as they were charging at him blinded by rage, the world finally answered his call, a glowing monstrosity appearing.

"ROAR!"

A colossal dragon.

Dark, made of literal suffering. A primordial being so strong it could destroy the world, its presence alone changing everything.

He had spent centuries setting this up, and it was finally time to reap the rewards.

"Primordial Dragon of Agony?!"

"Impossible. The seal?!"

"No, this can't be…"

Tears. Snot. Fear.

Powerhouses crumbling to the ground, stunned in horror, bladders leaking and vengeance seemingly forgotten.

What kind of reversal was this?! His only contract and craziest spell.

Yes. Spell. But the greatest one.

[Ding! Triggered Redo Spell!]

[Failure Chance 99%!]

[A Penalty Will Be–]

He had already stopped listening, grinning. Perfect. He'd either be reborn or he'd disappear forever. But no matter what happened, the pain would finally end.

And only hunger would remain.

"If I am reborn. I'll be a Monster from the start. And I'll destroy this shitty place…"

"Now let's end it… EAT!"

"ROAR!"

The dragon obeyed. It opened a gigantic maw bigger than reality itself, powerhouses turning ashen. And then in one horrific bite it… ate its master?!

Confusion. Shock. Trauma.

Gray's last thought was wondering how much PTSD he had just given them.

He died with a smile…

FLASH!
