Chapter 5 - Finding the problem... Unsure of the solution.

It was not very easy for her to unpack her load, considering the amount of time she had to spend at his study…receiving god-damn lectures on what to do and what not to do.

After everything, she had to sleep around ten and as he had said… wake up time was five at dawn.

She could not really tell if that was what she wanted, but there was little to be done by her.

Montreal, Canada. 6:50 am

"So, Miss Manchester, this is the time, I arrive at work" he said as he walked into the elevator.

"You arrive before any employee?" Roxy pondered, looking extremely puzzled.

As simple and straightforward as it looked, it was still a little bit complex.

She was not used to resuming as early as he does, but she knew she had to learn, because something made her understand, that this was just the beginning.

"And if you may indulge my curiosity… she paused, just to be sure she was getting enough of his attention…" What exactly do you do?"

"Nothing, just wait till everyone arrive"

He replied with a grin that stirred a lot of confusion, disappointment, and anger inside her.

Really? All they had to do was sit around and await the arrival of other staffs?

She was starting to regret her decision, if her nightmares didn't kill her, Miles Mounthill was sure to be the death of her.

MONTREAL, CANADA 7:45AM

Everything was starting to feel weird, no one, not a single soul had arrived.

Everyone knew that Mr. Grumpy was always punctual and no one -except her dared to defy him, but no one was has arrived yet.

She took a glance at Miles, there was no unusual expression, just the same long face he wore to the office every day.

"No one…

"Is coming today" he interrupted with a smile.

Her jaws dropped. She doubted her ears.

There was no way she could have heard him right.

"What did you just say?!" she yelled, banging the desk as she rose to her feet.

"No one is coming today" he repeated indifferently.

Cold shivers ran down her spine, accompanied by a surging rage of anger.

"Why are we here?" she asked impatiently.

"To punish you."

"What offences have I committed?"

"You are never punctual, and I always have to wait for my personal assistant to arrive hours after I did"

"And you believe that you have not punished me enough?"

"No?"

She sighed, if this was heaven's way of punishing her, she was ready to accept it, if it meant that she was going to get her life back.

"What will I be doing?" she asked.

She had a lot of answers to the question in her mind, but she wanted to hear from him.

MONTREAL, CANADA 9:00PM

For some moments she thought her life was ending, there was no way he was punishing her for things she had reasons for.

She had never wished of arriving late to work, it has just been fate playing tricks on her.

She saw the contempt in his eyes as her eyes met his, but she wasn't bothered, all she wanted was to fulfill whatever wishes there was and leave, before that, they had to go home, cause she needed a good nap.

SEATON PARK, ABERDEEN AVE., WESTMOUNT, MONTREAL, CANADA.

10PM

The atmosphere was quiet, it was not the usual bustling park.

She was attracted to the beautiful scenery before her.

She smiled; how could she have forgotten.

Her dad never took her to see the night stars or the cosmos.

She was never allowed to step out at night and she was always in a dark room.

She felt a slight tap on her back, it was Miles, he seemed to have noticed a slight change from her expression.

"Are you fine?" he inquired.

She nodded slightly with a smile.

Five minutes had barely passed, when the winds started rising.

Roxy knew who was causing the little show, she knew who was disrupting the atmosphere, but what surprised her was Miles's refusal to leave, even when it was clearly going to rain.

Realization suddenly hit her, she retracted back to the beginning of the day.

She woke up at four, but Miles was already dressed, and she recollected that she had gone to bed before him.

Her eyes widened in shock, Miles was not always punctual because he was extremely dutiful, it was because…

"He has Insomnia" Aradia voice echoed in her mind.

"What am I supposed to do now?"

"That's your problem, not mine, but this is your first assignment, the remaining two will solve itself, but you must remain"

And like always, that was all Aradia had to say.

Some part of her felt relieved that she found a reason to live with him, while the other part felt disturbed by the shocking truth.

Now, they were running towards the car and he held her hands tightly.

For some moments, she felt that he was not thinking about her, but someone else because the way he held her hands, he felt really determined, it felt like he was trying to pull her out of danger.

She stared at him curiously as they made their way through the rain.

"What secrets do you conceal, Mr. Mounthill, I want to know"
