Chapter 1 - Ch1. I'm the MC

Miss Eva continued her lecture, but he had stopped listening a while ago.

'Why? Why can't she just finish this tomorrow?'

Noel was a good student, eager to learn and normally attentive, but this was the last class of the day, and the bell had already rung. Miss Eva, however, ignored it with the same cold indifference she used on the flirtatious students who tried to ask her out.

Impatience filled his heart. He wanted to leave. He wanted to train. He wanted to get stronger.

'Finally.'

"Class dismissed."

Miss Eva wrapped up the lesson a few moments later and stepped out of the room. But before crossing the doorway, she shot Noel a brief and secretive glance.

The boy didn't notice the beautiful teacher's stare. If he had, he would've wondered why she was looking at him. What had he done to attract the attention of the disciple of the Shadow Warrior? Shouldn't it be the main character who gets noticed, not an extra like him?

'Getting late. Miss Eva already wasted more than enough time.'

Noel stood up from his seat and began walking toward the door.

Suddenly, a small and soft hand grabbed his left hand. He turned around and found Sena. She was a shy girl with long, flowing blue hair tied in a ponytail and a small, cute face.

Heat built up inside him, turning his ears red, but before he could react, his right hand was grabbed as well.

This time it was Belle. A green-haired girl, also quite beautiful, but far more confident than Sena.

"Do you have time?"

They spoke in unison, then immediately glared at each other with open disdain.

The whole class took notice.

Noel was an ordinary-looking boy; seeing two beauties cling to him stirred jealousy in the other boys. They mocked him loudly, making nasty comments even though he was the son of a Duke. But in the Empire, Noel was famous as a failure of a noble for many reasons, so mocking him was easy and unrestrained.

But Noel's blank mind didn't hear any of it.

'Why do they want to talk to me, an extra? Do they think I'm their friend? Impossible. How can an extra like me be worthy of that?'

"Um… sorry. I need to train," he said.

He needed strength. He was very weak, and anyone with even a bit of power could end his life instantly. If he wanted to survive and protect the few people he cared about, training was the only path.

He was just an extra with no Author, no plot armor, and no loving family backing him up constantly.

So training was all he had.

Both girls looked disappointed and let him go.

They didn't try to convince him because they knew it was useless. They had seen how hard he trained until his body was close to passing out, and no matter how much they told him to stop, he never listened.

He left the classroom, thinking:

'Sometimes I feel like they like me… but probably not. I haven't even changed the plot much, besides stealing a few opportunities.'

'They probably want advice on making the MC fall for them. Ughh! Just leave me alone and let me train.'

'And as the MC, shouldn't you manage your own harem — you useless MC.'

He glanced at Red.

The supposed protagonist of the world… and walked out.

Red was a very handsome young man. His long, curly crimson hair reached all the way to his waist. His blue eyes sparkled lightly, almost like diamonds. His face was small and cute, with a smooth, narrow forehead and a small, delicate nose. His eyebrows had a graceful upward curve, almost like a phoenix in flight.

If someone claimed he looked prettier than most of the girls in the academy, they would not be wrong.

But despite that beauty, his face had been completely expressionless for an entire month in the academy.

Today, it finally changed.

Taking the form of disgust, rage, and jealousy.

'Why… why do I feel like something precious was stolen from me?'

Red stared at the black-haired boy leaving the room, unable to understand the strange feeling clawing at his chest.

"WHAT THE HELL! What do you mean the cold MC suddenly felt jealous?"

I screamed at my smartphone, almost throwing it on the ground but stopping myself as I remembered how much it cost.

Red was the supposed cold OG MC of the webnovel Advent of the Extra. Reader transmigrated into his favorite webnovel and then so on.

It was a simple, brainrot wish-fulfillment story where the reader becomes the Extra and gets stronger without any backing — unlike the MC, who had the support of the whole damn world.

And of course, picks up some cheeks along the way.

The same stupid plot every Extra story repeats.

The reader becomes some no-name extra, villainous young master, or supporting character while thinking anything would've been better than who they became.

If they end up as an extra, they think, at least make me a named character or a villain or a side character.

If they end up as a villain, they wish they were an extra with no noble family drama.

If they get a tragic body, they cry about wanting a fresh start.

Most were not satisfied with whoever they transmigrate into.

It was trash — but entertaining trash. And I loved it to a certain point.

But netori? That was too much. And with my ancient reader experience, I could smell the extra's path from miles away.

I took a sip from my water bottle, trying to calm down.

I had always suspected the author was into netori.

What I just read confirmed it.

The cold, indifferent MC suddenly felt jealous of an Extra who talked to those girls less than twice?

Bullshit.

[Author probably isn't satisfied enough. Now he wants the MC to feel jealous for his fetish.]

I posted the comment and instantly got five dislikes.

Wow. Just wow.

'Of course those people have the same hobbies.'

Then a reply appeared:

[Oh! Who's talking? A guy who never left his mama's house. If you feel so bad, become him and save him. You'd probably lose.]

I smiled.

[Nah, I'd win.]

I always wanted to say that. How could I not?

Become Red?

As if. Like hell I'd believe that nonsense.

I wasn't in some extra webnovel with no social life. I had a social life. I had friends and family. Even though I was a single highschooler, who cares? Once I get rich, it won't matter. Cheeks will come to me like bees toward honey.

I was the main character of my own life. Even if my life wasn't full of battles and was pretty simple, so what?

I wasn't some extra in my own story.

"I'm the MC," I said proudly.

Then I noticed something.

My surroundings had changed. The previous bedroom had become a modern classroom.

The classroom felt unfamiliar and familiar for some reason.

Then I realized it was the classroom of the webnovel.

My reflection in the window beside me…

My face wasn't there anymore. In its place was Red's face staring back at me.

I was the MC of the Extra webnovel.

And then I screamed.

"I'M THE MC!"
