Chapter 37 - Chapter 36: A Day in the Life of Ali

Ali woke up. There was one day before the the first match of the tournament. However, he still had to go to school. Being a school cricket star did not exempt you from going to school, unfortunately.

He walked to his cupboard and simply threw his vest and and school uniform onto his body. He then walked downstairs, shoveled the food into his mouth, much to the dismay of his mother.

"Ali, chew your food properly!" Screamed his mother.

"No time, mom." Said Ali. "I'll see you later!"

He ran to the door, and slammed it shut before leaving.

"This kid.." fumed Zainab.

The bus was filled with the noises of children shouting expletives, others talking to each other, and some even throwing paper balls at each other.

"Kids..I swear to god.." Ali thought to himself, forgetting he was a 25 year old trapped in a 16 year old's body.

He was then hit by a spit filled paper ball from a 14 year old kid. Ali wiped the spit off of his face, then walked over to his seat, and sat down. The bus started moving again, on its way to Ashwandeep.

Ali activated the system, and the translucent interface appeared in front of his eyes. He had completely forgotten about the gacha part of the system. There were a lot of notifications he hadn't seen. Every match he played would give him a task to win it for 30 LP.

He had won 9 matches, along with the initial points, he had got a small increase in stats and 30 more LP as a achievement reward for having two player aura slots.

That was a total of 400 LP currently in his hands. He needed a good bowler's player aura. He looked at the pack list. A gold bowler pack was 50 LP each, but a pro bowler pack was 100 LP each. Ali looked at the chances.

[Chances]

Gold Bowler Pack:

Silver Player Aura -> 15%

Gold Player Aura -> 65%

Pro Player Aura -> 15%

Legend Player Aura -> 5%

Pro Bowler Pack:

Gold Player Aura -> 65%

Pro Player Aura -> 25%

Legend Player Aura -> 10%

"I can either get 4 pro bowler packs, or 8 gold bowler packs." Thought Ali. "Either way, the gold player chance is same. I'll take the gold packs. The chances will be offset.by the numbers."

Ali brought 8 gold packs. He began opening them one by one.

The first five packs gave nothing but gold players. Ali sighed in dissatisfaction.

The 6th pack was a bigger disappointment, containing a silver bowler aura.

Ali annoyed, opened up the 7th pack.

"I swear to god. If this is another gold player aura.." Ali lamented his bad luck.

But the system had worse plans for him. It was the silver bowler aura of Digvesh Rathi, which infuriated him a lot.

"Please last pack..have something good…" Begged Ali.

Ali opened the last pack hoping he would get something good. And he did get something good. The pack glowed with a bluish black aura instead of the usual gold or grey aura. It was a pro player aura.

[Pro Player Aura: Kuldeep Yadav]

That was quite good. He actually modeled a part of his bowling action after watching Kuldeep Yadav bowl in his original life.

He looked at the abilities of the player aura. There was only one active ability unlocked, which would allow Ali to increase the angle of spin of his bowling for two balls. He also gained a skill which buffed his variations in bowling and another which increased the spin of his bowling for every wicket he took.

He immediately equipped it in the new slot he had gained after beating Excellence last time in the indirect qualifiers.

The bus stopped in front of Ashwandeep. Ali closed the interface, and walked out of the bus before dodging another spitball from the same kid.

It hit the teacher in front of him, who glared at the kid, before waiting for him outside the bus.

"Time to enjoy the show." Thought Ali, before standing nearby, out of the teacher's line of sight.

Suraj saw him, and was about to talk to him before Ali shushed him and pulled him to the side.

"Keep quiet. Just watch." Whispered Ali.

The kid walked out of the bus, bored of seeing people get hit by his spitballs. The teacher called him over, and began scolding him.

Ali and Suraj laughed, before walking away.

Ali then went through another boring school day, most of which he slept through. A teacher tried to corner him by asking him hard questions, but Ali just simply answered his questions with knowledge from his past life. The teacher looked at Ali, flabbergasted.

After his classes finished, Ali then walked back to the bus stop and sat in his seat. This time, the spitball throwing kid wasn't there in the bus, because he had been picked up by his parents instead.

The bus drove back to his house, and Ali got out of the bus. He then knocked on the door, with his dad opening it.

He then began analyzing the Gulbarga National School team. This would be a long night.

[Mangalore Interschool Tournament RO16 | Ashwandeep vs Gulbarga National]

Key Players:

Akash Khanna

Pace bowler, known to be able to bowl in any part of the match and still provide a decent spell. Heightened variation compared to other bowlers.

Sohan Joshi

No 4 batsman, is equally capable of anchoring and aggressive batting. Highly tactical captaincy skill.

Win Chance:

Gulbarga National: 46%

Ashwandeep: 54%

"Only two actual key players?" Questioned Ali. "Maybe I should tell Manish to rest for the first game. No, I can't be complacent."

Ali took his notebook and kept strategizing for tomorrow's match.
