The droppings of Brave Sun became the Giants (Rockmen). They enslaved humans to mine gold.
The tears of Starry Wisdom became the Spirits (Fey). They enslaved humans to be pets.
Humans died in the thousands. They were eaten by Chaos Beasts. They were crushed by rocks.
In a muddy pit, a boy named Ren was digging for scraps.
He was starving.
He found a strange stone. It wasn't a rock. It was a fossilized piece of Noax's heart.
Ren picked it up.
He felt a pulse.
Thump-thump.
"Who is there?" Ren whispered.
"I am Ambition," the stone whispered. "I am the desire to rise."
Ren looked at the Giant standing over him with a whip.
"I want to kill him," Ren thought.
"Then bind me," the stone said. "Cut your chest. Put me inside."
Ren took a sharp flint. He cut his own chest open. He shoved the stone inside.
It hurt. It felt like swallowing fire.
But when the wound closed, Ren's skin turned to iron.
The Giant swung the whip.
Ren caught the whip. He pulled. The Giant fell.
Ren picked up a rock and crushed the Giant's head.
The other humans watched in silence.
