Two days passed after the shopping day. Jonatan's birthday arrived, Dan and his friends were ready to celebrate it.
After classes they prepared a small party at Dan's apartment. When Jonatan arrived they already had a cake on the table and small balloons on the apartment ceiling.
—Happy birthday!—The three said.
Jonatan looked at the cake and decorations
—Wow, who would have thought I have really good friends.
Brandon huffed not convinced by his reaction.
—What a dry reaction, I thought you'd be more surprised.
—I'm totally surprised, I just don't like to show it.
—But don't be like Himari because with her you do act surprised right?.
Josias laughed and approached the cake.
—Alright fine, fine, okay. Now let's go for the cake.
Dan grabbed the cake and moved it away from him.
—No, we still can't.
—Huh?! Why not?!
—Because Himari isn't here yet.
—But weren't we supposed to be just the four of us?—Brandon asked.
—Yes that was the plan at first but somehow Himari found out about the party and told me not to eat the cake until she got here.—Dan answered.
Jonatan smiled happily.
—Oh! How sweet my Himari is. I love her so much.
—So cheesy—Josias and Dan said at the same time.
—She even threatened to break my legs if we didn't wait for her—He shivered as he remembered that threat.
The doorbell rang.
—I think it's her—Jonatan went to the door to open it.
He gently turned the doorknob but Himari pushed the door from outside to open it.
—Hi! Hi!
The push almost hit Jonatan but he dodged it in time. He and Himari looked at each other for a few seconds.
Then Himari smiled widely, dropped the gift on the floor and threw herself into his arms.
—Love.—He caught her in his arms and she started kissing his cheeks.
Brandon leaned slightly towards Josias to whisper to him.
—Soon that's how Dan and Noemi will be.
Josias laughed and nodded his head.
—I heard you idiots—Dan said as he watched the couple.
Himari got down from Jonatan's arms and bent down to pick up the gift.
—Here you go love—She handed him the gift. Jonatan was surprised and smiled with blushing cheeks.
—Oh right, I also brought a friend with me—Himari said and moved aside to let her friend in.—Come in Noemi!.
The four boys were surprised when they heard the name.
—Noemi?!.
She appeared at the door with her eyes on the floor, shy about coming when she wasn't invited by them.
—H-hi... Sorry for coming so suddenly and without being invited.
Dan showed a small smile when he saw her.
—Don't worry it's okay. Himari forced you to come with her right?
Himari shook her head.
—No, I just asked her to accompany me to a birthday party but I didn't tell her whose it was.
Dan looked at the door and recognized a lock of hair hiding there.
—And you two don't hide, I already saw you.
The two jumped and revealed themselves.
—Hi! Hi!—Emily exclaimed. Next to her was Sofia.
When Josias saw her he blushed and got nervous so much that he looked away.
—And who invited you two?—Dan asked.
—Himari. But anyway even if we hadn't been invited we would have been here because wherever Noemi is we'll be there. We can't leave her alone—Sofia answered as she hugged Noemi.
Himari nodded her head.
—Yes actually I just met them, they told me if they could also come and I gladly agreed.
The two walked in without waiting for Dan's permission. Himari took Jonatan's hand and brought him closer to the cake.
—Now yes. Let's go for the cake!.
Now with everyone in the apartment they started singing to Jonatan. He leaned forward to take a bite of the cake but Dan took the opportunity to make him lean faster and get cream on his face.
He and the others started laughing except for Noemi who didn't know whether to laugh or not and Himari who frowned and grabbed a napkin to clean Jonatan's face.
Dan took a bit of cake cream on his finger and approached Noemi to gently dab the tip of her nose.
Everyone was surprised and frozen as they watched, waiting for Noemi's reaction.
Dan thought: Shit I need to stop doing things without thinking twice first.
Noemi blushed at the gesture but then a small giggle came from her lips. Everyone sighed in relief when they saw her reaction.
Dan was surprised now that he thought about it it was the first time he'd heard her laugh. That giggle seemed beautiful and sweet to him.
Noemi also took some cream and returned the gesture gently dabbing Dan's nose.
After a moment of laughter it was time to cut the cake. Himari took a slice and sat with Jonatan on the couch.
She started giving him pieces of cake with a spoon to his mouth.
—Open wide ahh—Jonatan was dying of embarrassment but he couldn't refuse so he obeyed and opened his mouth.
His friends were holding back their laughter as they watched him like that. Himari turned to Brandon who was also on the couch.
—By the way why didn't you bring Nataly with you?—She asked as she continued feeding Jonatan.
(Nataly is Brandon's girlfriend)
—She said she couldn't she was busy with her homework.
—Oh that's too bad I wanted to talk to her.
Emily stood in front of everyone and held out a board game box called Snakes and Ladders but with challenges.
—Hey! Let's play please!.—She exclaimed.
Everyone hesitated for a few seconds but in the end agreed to play.
—Yay—Emily said as she was already setting everything up on the table.
