Chapter 110 - Chapter 110: Came Out to Play and Got Caught

Sampo very earnestly tried to persuade the Frostspawn with kind words.

However, the Frostspawn didn't believe a single word from the man in front of it. It knew very well that this person had two heads earlier.

What's more, he and his companion had turned its good brother, the Flamespawn, into a ball. No matter what, it couldn't let itself fall into the hands of these two monsters.

So this Fragmentum monster, determined to resist even unto death, once again let out a roar at Sampo.

"Why aren't you making a move yet? Do you have to wait for me to do it?"

Nero's slightly complaining voice came from behind Sampo.

Originally, seeing Sampo had only made the three girls surprised, but now that they heard Nero's voice as well, they instantly became alert.

Stelle even widened her eyes and looked at Sampo with a scrutinizing gaze.

'You being here is one thing, how is Nero here too?'

In the blink of an eye, in just that short moment, the Frostspawn suddenly launched a sneak attack. Terrifying cold spread out from its body, countless ice crystals forming above its head and blasting toward Sampo like a torrential rain.

And Sampo stood in place, neither dodging nor avoiding. He knew Nero would definitely make a move.

The reason this Frostspawn hadn't been captured yet was because that little ancestor had said he'd suddenly learned a new move and wanted to try it out.

Just as the ice spikes fired by the Rain of Eternal Winter were about to hit Sampo, more than a dozen small emerald-green swords condensed entirely from wind flew out.

These small swords were extremely fast, like streaks of green light. They were arranged tightly, one following another, sweeping across in front of Sampo and forming a sword glow in midair, instantly shredding the ice spikes brought down by the Rain of Eternal Winter into icy mist.

Because Nero had already tinkered his way into creating the Sword skill on his own before the system even issued its reward, he was now conducting an experiment, seeing just what kind of improvement the system's reward, the Wind Sword Formation, had given him.

At this moment, Nero flew out from the orphanage with his hands behind his back, looking down at the Frostspawn from above.

The boy formed a sword gesture with his other hand and flicked it upward toward the Frostspawn. In the next instant, more than a dozen Wind Swords merged together into a single long sword, jade-like in appearance.

Though no one was holding it and it floated in midair, the long sword still made an upward slashing motion. A cyan sword light flashed briefly under the dim lights, and the Frostspawn was instantly sent flying, a sword wound more than two meters long appearing on its body at the same time.

Violent winds filled that sword wound, continuously tearing at the Frostspawn's body.

Immediately after, Nero bent his finger and flicked it forward, then lightly curled his hand back in the air, and the emerald-jade long sword responded.

The long sword first split apart again into Wind short swords, circled around to the Frostspawn's back at incredible speed, then merged once more and instantly stabbed into its back.

Right after that, the Wind Sword carried the Frostspawn forward, dragging the Fragmentum monster back in from beyond the railing and finally pinning it against the orphanage wall.

Next, the Wind Sword split apart again into Wind short swords. Aside from the one already embedded in the Frostspawn's body, the others lined up tightly along its form, piercing through the Fragmentum creature and finally nailing it seamlessly to the wall, leaving it completely unable to move.

Nero smiled faintly and slowly landed on the ground.

After several rounds of testing, he was quite satisfied. This was much smoother than when he had previously used his skill to drive the Wind Sword. Now he could play with his sword however he wanted.

As for drawbacks, there were probably only two. First, no matter what, the Wind Sword wasn't a real sword. Second, it couldn't do a jumping slash.

At this point, Nero was still thinking that he'd already caught two big ones and it felt like he could head back. Later, he could have these two take the place of the warming packs and hang in the corridor.

And just as his mind started to wander, Stelle's voice suddenly came from nearby, "Nero!"

"Ah!?"

Nero was startled and immediately turned his head in a bit of a panic, only to see Stelle with her brows tightly furrowed, and Seele and Bronya standing beside her.

"You're not sleeping, what are you doing here at this hour? And also…"

Stelle put her hands on her hips and scolded him, then turned her head to look at Sampo, her gaze extremely dangerous.

"Uh… haha… long time no see, sis…"

Sampo laughed awkwardly a couple of times and raised a hand in greeting.

"Sampo, why are you here?" Seele walked up, also looking at Sampo with a dangerous gaze. "Don't tell me you took all the supplies."

As for Bronya, she had already raised her gun.

"No! Not me… We only just got here not long ago… Miss Seele, you can see it too, our target is that big guy over there… and also, um… Officer Bronya… could you please put that down… it's very dangerous…"

Sampo hurriedly shook his head, then pointed to the Frostspawn nailed to the wall like a specimen nearby.

Seele and Bronya both snorted coldly, but still lowered the weapons in their hands.

Under Stelle's stare, Nero blinked. Only then did he realize this place seemed to be the orphanage, and according to the plot, after Stelle and Bronya left, they would follow Seele here.

'Aha damn it!'

'Chasing after the Frostspawn had gotten a bit too exciting…'

'It's all Aha's fault!'

Normally, he wasn't this playful.

He was usually quite steady.

"Um… well… uh…"

After blaming everything on Aha in his heart, Nero began thinking about how to explain this to Stelle.

But after thinking carefully, it seemed there was no need to come up with any excuse, telling the truth would be fine.

So Nero said to Stelle, "I couldn't fall asleep, so I thought I'd go out and take a look. Then I noticed you and the night-watch Bronya… big sister… leaving together."

After a bit of thought, Nero still decided to add "big sister" when addressing Bronya.

This Silvermane Guard commander was fairly upright, but not so rigidly upright like Big Bro Gepard…

This was something he'd learned from Natasha, basically, praise people first, and then when you make requests later, it's easier to steer things in a direction favorable to yourself.

Nero didn't pause while speaking. Aside from a bit of embellishment, everything he said was true.

He, Nero, never lied.

"Then, to protect Teacher Dan Heng and March's safety, I had no choice but to follow the original plan and set up tripwire mines in the corridor.

"But installing them by myself was a bit slow, so I called Sampo over to help me set them up!"

As he said this, Nero turned his head to look at Sampo.

So Sampo nodded repeatedly and said, "It's true! We set up the tripwire mines together, so many of them, like a net cast over sky and earth!"

Hearing this, Stelle and Bronya didn't have much reaction.

After all, these two already knew Nero's idea. When they'd discussed who would keep watch earlier, Nero had already suggested installing tripwire mines.

Seele, on the other hand, blinked, a bit stunned. She looked at Nero and asked, "What did you install? Tripwire mines? Where did you install them? In the corridors of the Goethe Grand Hotel? Are you serious?!"
