News cameras waited like predators as Jisoo and Ha-eun exited the building hand in hand. Flashing lights burst around them.
"CEO Kang! Is your wife innocent?"
"Are you protecting her because you're in love?"
"Is this marriage still just a contract?"
At that question, Jisoo stopped walking.
He looked at Ha-eun—really looked at her—and something inside him snapped.
"No more questions," he said coldly.
He placed a firm hand on her waist and pulled her close, shielding her from the chaos. Security formed a barrier around them, escorting them toward the car.
Inside the tinted limousine, silence wrapped around them like smoke.
Ha-eun finally spoke. "You didn't have to confront the reporters. They'll twist everything."
"I don't care what they twist," Jisoo replied, eyes locked onto hers. "I only care about what you think."
Her breath hitched. "And what do you think of me, Jisoo?"
He leaned back, jaw tightening. Emotions flickered behind his eyes—desire, anger, fear.
"I think," he said slowly, "that this marriage stopped being a contract the moment I realized losing you terrifies me."
Ha-eun's heart pounded.
"Jisoo…"
Before he could finish, the car jerked violently—another vehicle had cut them off.
The driver shouted, "Sir! Someone's blocking the road!"
A black luxury sedan parked horizontally in front of them. The door opened, and a tall man in a tailored suit stepped out.
Jisoo's eyes narrowed.
"Of course. It's him."
Ha-eun swallowed hard.
"Who is that?"
Jisoo's voice dropped into a cold whisper.
"My biggest rival. And the man who once tried to take everything from me."
