It was a bright morning the sky was blue and the sun was shining more than usual maybe because it was raining heavily last night, there were water gathered in small amounts all over the village, the rays of sun hitting the small gathered water made the water glow, it was a really beautiful sight to look at,
"Today sure is a lovely day, isn't it"
"Yes it is really lovely i didn't thought the morning would look so beautiful after the heavy rain fall last night"
Two boys were talking outside by judging from their appearance they both were wearing dirty clothes which a farmer would wear while cutting the crops, the two boys were none other than Abhinav and Felix. They were at a garden, the garden was huge it has a lot of varities of vegitables there are Tomatos ,Cucumbers,BellPeppers,Carrots,Radishes, lettuce and Eggplants. The garden was right behind their house, their house was right next to road, they can clearly see the road from the garden.
"Your wounds healed quicker than i thought"
"It's only been three days and look I am perfectly healed now i can even help you with your chores"
"I don't think you should help me, it might not be good for your legs if you do the farm work with me"
"Don't worry about that, my wounds are now gone, this is the least i can do to show you my gratitude"
Felix said those words while tapping at his left leg as if to show that his leg is now better than ever
"If you say so but don't over do it okay"
" Ok i won't, so tell what i should do"
These past few days have been the same he wakes up in the morning anaya checks him before going to her clinic and after that abhinav gives him the food he need in order to recover as told by her sister after that he sleep and talks with abhinav later that day and the cycy repeats for 3 days in that three days abhinav and Felix become quite a good friends after talking to each other daily, he recover some strength day by day and after 3 days he was now completely recovered but still he has some wounds on his back and shoulder but they are not as severe as the wound on his leg was
"How many varieties of vegetables do you guys have?"
He passed that comment while harvesting carrots, felix was simply blown by how many varieties of vegetables this garden has or how big this garden was. Right infront of him was abhinav who was also harvesting carrots upon hearing his question he let out a smug face and said
"We have a vase verity of vegetables we grow all kind of summer vegetables here like Tomatos, Carrots, lettuce, Eggplants, cucumbers, bell peppers....."
"Okay okay...i get it ! But seriously this garden is really huge you can earn alot of money from just selling your harvests, maybe you don't have to even think about a year or so after that"
"Things would have been a lot better if we were able to do just as you say right now "
"..."
Felix asked that question out of his own curiosity without knowing anything about them, abhinav's smug face when asked about the varieties of vegetables had disappeared and a frown can be seen on his face
"You see this land is not ours, this land is given to us on some terms and conditions...we have give a large amount of our profits to the real owner of this land"
"That's not good...who exactly gave you this land and how much profits does he take anyways "
"He is one of the most powerful people in this village or even in this region to be honest, his name is nileshwar borman....he is the leader of all the bandit gangs in the region"
" I remember you saying that your Village is infamous for all the bandit gangs"
After being interrupted while talking abhinav looked at felix and nodded
"And about the percentage of profits he takes from us is around 70 percent "
Upon hearing his remark felix was stunned he wasn't saying anything for few seconds and after that
"Haaaaa!! What the fuck are you talking about, 70 percent ! are you crazy even a 10 years old kid can identify that this is a bad deal, that's practically slavery you know. How are you managing your expenses with this low amount of money?"
"Now you are understanding my position here, the money we earn from selling the harvest is pretty low it's not enough to run a house thats why my sister started working as an animal doctor and i started helping my father with the other works"
"And you can't even do anything about it cause he is the rightful owner of this land right?"
"Yes and that pisses me off the most, we do the all the hard labour fertilizer the land, supply water, remove all the unwanted plants,plant the seeds, taking care of them, all the hard work! and what we get? A measly amount of money that is not even enough for a household to run...and we can't even escape this we have to grow vegetables in order stay in this land..in this home... It's like we are slave that can do whatever they want after finishing their work, fuck the owner and screw his whole family"
Abhinav's reaction was completely normal after all the hardwork he was doing in order to produce good vegetables and not getting nearly as much compensation he was expecting to is already enough reason to make anyone drive crazy, he was concealing his hatred and anger towards the owner of the land and the ammount of percentage he was getting from the profits and when he found an opportunity to lash out all his hatred and anger he didn't hesitate
Then felix let out big sigh upon hearing his condition and said
"Where were you living before he gave you this land?"
After hearing felix's question abhinav moved his right hand up and pointed at the house behind him it was the same exact he was living now
"...we were living peacefully back then, my father was a farmer my mother was a house wife, i was still going to school but i already knew back then that i am not build for studying i knew that I will eventually going to help my father and become a farmer instead, but on the other hand my sister was really good at studying so she kept studying and now look she is an animal doctor"
While saying those words abhinav had a face like he was reminiscing about the past and indeed he was. Those sweet memories from the past that now he reminisce about we're reality few years ago
After hearing his words felix was about say something but in the flow of talking he ignored him and continued
"Everything was so happy back then, this land under our house was used to belong to us and here and here also used to belong to us"
He said this while pointing with his right hand at the house and the land around his house
Felix was confused by his word and said
"What do you mean by this land used to belong to you"
" You know right that he is the leader of all the bandits in this region, back then and even now the land here is very fertilized to grow vegetables so when he found out about this land he wanted his hands on this land immediately but his intentions was not to buy this instead intimidate my father to gave this land to him but my father refused to gave this land even after being intimidate by his goons but... Then he said that he will going to kill one of our family members if he didn't give him the land or even worse since there are two females in our family, my father got scared and gave his land to him but since we don't have any other ways to earn money my father begged him and he gave us this land back on these terms and conditions"
After hearing all of abhinav's words felix's head started hurt, this was too much for him to comprehend he was overwhelmed, but after clearing up his thoughts and pondering over it again and again he said
"What are the terms...."
"Heyy brats ! Come here i am here to ask something"
Felix's words were being cut in the middle of his sentence and a loud voice can be heard, it was coming form the road, they both looked at where was the voice coming from and abhinav said something with a voice full of animosity
"Speak of the devil"
"....don't tell me.. waitttt really?"
Felix was late to catch on to it but he eventually understand what abhinav mean and abhinav said
"Yes he is nileshwar borman..."
