Chapter 1 - Awakening of the lynxs slick

"It was a cold winter night. I was sitting next to my decrepit tent in the slums of the Swords District. I, Leonardo, decided to go out to the forest and get some firewood. As I had just finished gathering firewood for my fire, I ran into a Lynx user, a Fire Sword type user. His Lynx, however, seemed to be a rather common one. I walked past him calmly, but he grabbed my shoulders and asked where I was scurrying off to so quickly. I tried to break free, but his grip was tight and suffocating. He immediately told me to show respect and called me a lowly scum. I refused, and he bruised and battered my body painfully. I walked home with pains all over my body.

At this point, though, I was used to the bad and horrible treatment from Lynx users. Being born without a Lynx in this world was quite tough. We were treated like diseases and were given the lowest of places to dwell in, such as slums and underdeveloped areas. Though the slums of the Swords District were slightly better than those of the Claws and Spears, it was still terrible. The food and water were mostly infected, and the technology here was outdated and almost unusable. The smell of the air was always pungent and heavy.

My life didn't exactly start out like this, though. I was once in the heart of the Swords District, one of the best places to live, and I had a comfortable room and house. It wasn't until I turned 16 that everything took a downward turn for the worse. It was the time when I was supposed to unlock my Lynx. As the first son, I was expected to get something very powerful since I was born to the strongest Lynx Sword house in the whole of the Swords District. So, you could expect the huge surprise my whole house had when I didn't unlock a Lynx after six months of my birthday.

After that, my father and mother started treating me like a scum/disease. To them, I was a stain on the powerful Lynx house. After some time, my parents had enough of me; they wanted to remove my very existence if possible, so I was chased out of my house and forced to live in the slums. I'm currently 17; it's been a year since that happened.

I woke up to yet another horrible day. The news was spreading fast on paper that my younger brother, Alex, had awakened a powerful Lynx, Light Sword. It was capable of splitting mountains in half, by what I had heard. There was great celebration in the house. So, I heard they were going on a great expedition into the Demon Side in order to further eliminate demons and increase the size of the Swords District.

Later in the afternoon, though, my brother had summoned me. It was probably to talk on and on about his new ability. I, however, decided to go, since I didn't have the opportunity to go to town with security much often. I was then taken to our big estate. Alex snorted immediately he saw me; he felt superior to me. He immediately mocked my clothing and said I had a foul air around me. I could only roll my eyes. Something took me by surprise, though: he told me to have dinner with him. It was a huge shock for any of my family members to offer me dinner due to since my 16th birthday. I humbly accepted, though, but if only I knew what awaited me that night; I'm sure I would have immediately declined.

As I sat on the dining chairs, I was served a quite good meal, which was surprising. However, before I could even eat, I noticed a cold glare in my younger brother's eyes, Alex. It looked like that of hatred and malice. I decided to brush it off, though, but immediately I tried eating, a sharp sword had slashed my back. Blood flew out of my back immensely and gushed out like a pool. I was lying on the ground, gasping for air, when he looked at me and said that I was a mistake, a dirt on the great house of Light Sword users. Before I blacked out, however, I could feel something, a feeling I couldn't explain.

I later woke up somewhere familiar, but I couldn't properly remember it. As I stood up from the comfortable bed, I was welcomed with the smell of roses. I immediately remembered whose room this was; it was my elder sister's, Elaine, a very mysterious person. She rarely talked, but she frequently showed concern for me. In fact, when my family started treating me badly, she was the only one who still helped me.

She immediately looked at me and wondered why I would accept an invitation from my brother. I told her it was a simple choice, but I had a serious question: I was wondering how I was still alive, because I vividly remembered being slashed at my back painfully. She then explained that she walked in on it and immediately took me away from my brother and rushed me to the in-house Doctor, who then treated me for my wounds and saved me just before I died. I cried tears so much on my face because of the kindness she showed me, even though I didn't have a Lynx.

I immediately felt a sharp pain in my shoulder joints, and before I knew it, something materialized in my hands. It was a sword, but not just any sword; it was a legendary sword, one that was greatly feared and could tear down continents. It was the Lynx Slick, a powerful Light Sword used by an ancestor of mine who, on his own, destroyed 1/4 of the Demons District and expanded the Swords District by millions of miles, making it the biggest district and most powerful among the rest.

My sister was, however, white-pale when she saw it. She was surprised and curious how I had awakened a sword that was regarded as a myth and false due to it not having been awakened by any generation in a while. But it seemed alive due to its emanating aura. It immediately disappeared, though, soon after, which left me confused. I tried summoning it again, but it didn't respond to me. I tried 10 more times, but it ended as the same result, which left my sister and me puzzled. So, we decided to do more research on the sword.

In the book stored in my house library, which contains the only accurate information about the sword, it was accounted to have a mind of its own and generally didn't listen to its users. But what we had come across about it was more surprising: it was said to have been destroyed by a legendary Spear user. We wanted to know more information about it, but my house library only had the incomplete manuscript, and the complete manuscript was in the general library. But we couldn't go yet, due to I was supposed to be on bed rest, so we postponed our trip there till next month, August. I couldn't wait; I wanted to learn more about and how to control it, so I could remove the unfair treatment of the non-Lynx users."
