Chapter 2 - p1 ch 2 - Veil lifted

' This is ... euphoric ' Eagerly and with great enthusiasm, face hidden by his veil, his feet danced under his robes, toes furling and uncurling. The way his arse was static on the cold stone, the way the feeling of static numbness ran down his lower body.' I'll remember this great sacrifice you made oh ser Collin '

Teeth flashed under the veil, a face splitting grin almost demented in nature broke his soft features, but none would be able to see it.

Malak stared at the panel with narrowed eyes, fingers drumming the armrest of the stone throne.

' Only Uhar ... that is ... troubling' Everyday, for the last seventeen years he had been around the people he had blessed day in and day out, yet only one had true loyalty. Not even the silent ... the silent which has vowed to serve were truly loyal, rather they were loyal in the name of the power being close to him afforded them. Not even his own parents held any form of true loyalty to him, rather they stayed at his side due to the station the village placed on them as his parents and his speakers.

His annoyance, and anger built the longer he stared at the panel showing he had only a single true follower, someone that truly valued his gifts, someone that valued him as a person amd a leader, rather than some neet disabled boy.

' Piss off' He dispersed the panel with a wave of the hand, pale fingers curling around the armrest of his throne, hands squeezing solid rock to putty underneath his fingertips, a strength none knew existed, a fizzing malevolence they thought they could trick.

" Door master ... " His voice rumbled the ground, as the soft candle light flickered violently at the tempest that blew from the veil.

She came immediately, but he could see it, the frail fear, the look of a person hiding under a beast in the hopes of receiving gifts. The way she refused to gaze apon him, the way her lips failed to hide the rising smile of greed slowly spreading apon her features.

" Fetch me a book, one about the world.. I wish to learn" He made an eager gesture of the hands, for too long he had spent so much time confined inhere, without even knowing this world he had found himself in, he didn't even know the name of the land.

" Milord I must advise ... " The door master began, usually he was one to ask and accept refusal, but that was not today.

And so a strange gargled noise rumbled from his chest, his hand slamming onto the armrest with enough strength to crack the entire of the throne itself.

" I DON'T WANT YOUR ADVICE... " His voice exploded outwards like thunder rolling across the skies. Shaking not just the chapel but the village as a whole, startling the masses into submission as the silent quickly mobilised and made their way to the chapels entrance.

" Yes milord ... forgive me ... " And so she quickly made herself scarce, as the silent strode in, seven in total to analyse the situation.

However instead of the usual eager greeting their presence would usually garner, they were met with a disgruntled roll of the eye and a dismissive scoff.

" Out ... " His lone command to them made the silent look between eachother, silently conveying their thoughts to eachother before turning away and stepping out into the mid afternoon heat of the village of roses.

' Leeches the lot of you ' Silently he sneered, years of belief they atleast considered him a friend dashed in a moment as the veil of deceit was lifted by the system at a whim.

' I'd be better off with a fucking goat, atleast they're funny to look at' He growled, playing the disabled fool on the throne, hesd thumping back onto the cold surface. Luckily they couldn't discern his face, lest they see the fury on his features.

He waited, silently fuming for a sum of ten minutes before the door master made her presence known, kneeling several paces away lest his anger rise once more.

" Milord I was unable to find anything related to the history of the land, but I was able to find some journals left by passing merchants travelling the dothraki sea milord" Now Malak was interested, most intruiged even, arms digging into the stone as he leant forward, eyes troubled behind the veil.

" Did you just say .. the dothraki sea ... " It was but a whisper, yet it's tone shook the soul, grasped the door watcher by the very depths of her being.

" U...uh yes milord... " She didn't understand why those words seemed to agitate the lord of gifts so, nor did she dare presume.

" And I take it ... who rules westeros currently ... " His question robbed her of breath, how'd he know of that name, he wasn't supposed to be aware of anything beyond this room, so how in the name of the gods did he come to know of the land across the sea.

" I... I fail to see " She tried to do as she was instructed, oh so long ago, to smother his curiosity of the world beyond, to guide his mind away from there.

" answer me " It was dangerous this time, tinged with silent threat, a malevolent force that crushed her shoulders and made her shiver.

" The Valyrian dynasty... milord " And so he fell back onto the throne, fingers drumming the armrest as silence stretched like the shadows of the candles lighting the chapel chamber.

" And the name ... of the King " That was the question, the answer would change everything, would decide how he acted in this land from here on out.

" Rumour from caravans says ... King Viserys the first" Whatever response she expected wasn't the deep rumble of a barking laugh.

" Get out HAHA ... Leave me be " He couldn't stifle the laughter as the door slammed shut as the door master all but fled in the wake of his amusement.

" HAHAHA " He had to physically hold himself down to the throne to not throw himself onto the ground in joy.

He had been about terrified for a moment.

' Praise the lord... the gods and whatever fucking prick stands in the heavens...' His deep barking laugh slowly died down... and then started to think.

' Fuck ... ' He slumped, but accepted the situation. ' Atleast I'm not in game of thrones... '

' House of the dragon, while it doesn't serve as the prelude to the end of the world .... does have its own dangers' He hadn't watched much of it, just the first and second season, infact he marvelled at the first season for being the best show online for several months. But he wasn't well versed in the novel of a song of ice and fire, he didn't know every event and could even now barely recall the show itself apart from the broadest of synopsis of both show themselves.

' I really should have been more of a book worm' He grunted, infact the only reason he realised where he was because of the name of the dothraki sea itself, the dothraki being his favourite culture in the show itself.

' And they meant to hide all of this from me' He hissed, hands curling as blood rushed. How much longer would he have been ignorant under their deceptions and omited truths in the effort to keep him here.

' FROM ME ... ' He lurched, bent over himself, this fantastical mystical world existed just beyond those doors, and he'd never known. Every person that came, from those that crossed the desert to the people of the village, they'd never done anything but ask. Never, never said anything to inform him... it was even his parents that suggested the formation of the silent, protectors taking a vow of silence to protect him. But now he saw it, they were wardens, chaperoning him, guarding him ... confining him.

' Liars ... deceivers... they hoard my power jealously as I waste away in here... UHAR' His cry echoed across the lands, a telepathic beacon that radiated across the dothraki sea for the only person in this cursed town he trusted.

Across the wasteful sea, full of shrugs and arid planes, the woman on the coal horse shuttered, head snapping up as the telepathic wave washed over her.

" .... " The rains snapped, and her steed broke into a gallop, breathing and huffing as both ride and rider blurred across the lands.

.... KINGS LANDING .... RED KEEP ....

The thunderous roar of titanic beasts echoed across the city scape, buildings shaking as shadows passed over the lands, the small folk looking up in awe at the beasts that zipped across the skies, hurricane like winds blasting from the tips of their wings.

" How majestic ... its at times like this that i miss Balerion, how nice would it have been to ride him alongside my dear Rhae" Viserys watched his daughters dragon fall and land apon the dragonpit before slinking away into the shadows.

" Perhaps you could go to the dragon pit your majesty... maybe another dragon would recognise your importance and allow you to become its rider" Otto hightower came up to the kings side, spotting several small cuts on the kings hand that made his brow fall." You majesty you appear to have cut yourself again, perhaps I shall go call the maester "

" There's no need, it is simply the price of ruling, it reminds me of my place, keeps my head clear " Viserys simply waved off his worry in favour of turning back to the chairs of his office, sliding into the seat as several dockets and papers sat to be read.

" I hear the Queen is with child your majesty... you have my congratulations " Inwardly Otto seethed, but he wouldn't say it allowed, nor could he bring himself to earn the king of the potential danger she faced after so many miscarriages.

" Aye ... I'm in high spirits ... I can only hope it be a boy" Viserys smiled fondly, easing a goblet of wine at his friend, before downing the drink before slowly turning his reluctant gaze to the papers present for him to read.

Even now, the prophecy crept its dark boding fingers at the back of his skull, whispering threats of doom into his ears ag every waking moment.

Though he put on a brave face and a smile for his daughter and subjects, he was deeply terrified of the fate that be, of the future and the great enemy of man.

' Aegon ... his name will be aegon' Viserys smiled fondly to himself, hoping to quell the fears he held and forcibly end the threat to the realm.

" My king ... " Otto drew his attention, as soft light peeked behind him into the kings chamber. " How long until the birth of the next heir "

" Seven and a half moons ... my friend" Viserys smiled, pricking his lips with wine as the smooth liquor poured down his gullet.

" Then preparations are in order... I will send for the best " Otto flashed a smile, eyes creased to appease the king.

" Don't go making preparations until we are closer ... you know ... " Viserys didn't have to say anything further, for so long had the queen been plagued by miscarriage since the first, damaging her womb and ailing her health more and more each time they tried for child.

Yet he couldn't stop himself, fear for the realm drove him to keep bedding his wife and trying for child in hopes that a male would be born, to stifle the threat that loomed. He feared his wife's health, but feared the fate of the world... and couldn't bring himself to stop.

" Tell me my friend... the state of the realm "

....VILLAGE OF ROSES ....

" Uhar ... " The chamber rumbled as the demon of white salt knelt loyally before her lord.

" .... " His hand slowly lifted from the throne, extending out to her in an expression of trust.

" Help me ... walk outside ... I wish to see outside of this prison ... for myself" Her head snapped up, amd she rose to take his hand, black gauntlets gently cupping his hand in the fear she may harm him.

And so he rose, on shaky legs, legs unused before this day, as they headed for the only entrance into this holy place.

'" Is the door master outside'" His question arose in Uhar's mind, rippling around her head like a foreign pressure.

' No... milord ' Her soft unused voice responded, the two communing in silence but of noise of the mind.' The other silent and the door master are vacant from their positions'

' I see ... that is... confounding' Their duty was to watch over him, and yet they failed to do that even now, with Uhar at his side inside the small church, neither would know if the silent and door master abandoned their station as they had never departed this chamber before today through the night, had never left the chamber at all except for Uhar to act in his stead during the day, which would allow the silent and door master to do as they wished without notice.

And so, Uhars left hand urged the creaking chapel door open with her left hand, and peeking starlight met Malak's gaze, eyes widening at the twinkling stars and empty cloudless skies.

The fresh air fluttered into his veil, sucked in with a deep rising of his chest.

' Such pure air ... much better than that decrepit chapel ... ' They stepped down the stairs to the dirt covered ground, feeling the firm dirt between his toes, the small but persistent grasses tickling the bottom of his feet and his only true follower holding his left arm.

Yet his humour and joy was short lived, as Uhar gently urged him through the empty near pitch black streets of the village of roses.

' Where is the ton's of seeds of grain I gifted to that ... what was his name ... Toriel, I do remember he asked to plant crops for the village ' His voice erupted in Uhar's mind.

' Toriel took the grain for himself milord, speaking of selling them for resources for the village... he had not returned in several moons milord' Uhars effeminate voice whisper of Uhar resonated in response.

' I see ... and what of the forests I blessed ... I see nothing but stumps and burnt grounds ' This village was supposed to be beautiful, was supposed to have a forest all around, flowing waters and flourishing citizens, yet he saw none of that, nothing but the sterile dothraki sea.

' The budding forest you bequeathed was culled milord, destroyed and sold milord, there is nothing left to grow' Uhars bitter anger translated through his mind, the budding fury of his blessings wasted in greed, angered he so much he could feel it.

' Show me ... ' His request made her head ached, what felt like fingers ripping through her mind pricked at her scalp.

And so she did, guiding him through the empty streets, guiding him to the village outskirts where nothing but barren wastes lay.

' How many years ... of my blessings have been wasted Uhar' He stared at destroyed stumps, churned ground where entire trees were ripped by the root and sold for coin their town had no use for. ' How many of my blessings came from a place of greed Uhar... how many times has it good will been wasted, the time I have given them been taken advantage of '

' A.... All of them milord ... ' She lowered herself to one knee, she would have prostrated herself outright if she wasn't currently helping him stand. ' I apologise for my failure to inform, I will accept any punishment you levy '

' There will be no punishement Uhar, not for you,.. but i do expect upront honesty from this point onwards, am i understood ' His thoughts rumbled, a calming stroke of forgiveness radiating in Uhar's head.

' Thank you for your graciousness milord ' He didn't respond, not immediately, as his eyes flicked across the barren wastes he had thought prosperous.

' I do have one more question Uhar ... the children... are they fed and happy ' She could feel the way his muscles curled, the way his anger built under his skin, the creaking of her gauntlets steel wrappings as his muscled flexed under skin.

And her silence was all the response he needed.

' Let us return... I've seen enough '
