Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: United of Sagitarius

Sagitarius, a giant spiral galaxy inhabited by humans, elves, aliens, and various other species, is under the control of a governing organization called the United of Sagitarius (UOS).

The Sagitarius galaxy is divided into four main sectors: Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Gamma.

Sector Alpha is the most advanced sector in the galaxy. It is home to many of the upper class and serves as the central hub for the UOS organization.

Sector Beta is known for its dense and diverse population. This sector houses many middle to lower-class communities, though some of the elite also live in this most populous sector of Sagitarius.

Sector Delta serves as the galaxy's industrial and mining sector. It is known for its extremely heavy space traffic, with countless cargo or trade ships crossing the skies, transporting goods from one planet to another. Many from the middle to lower classes work in this sector, whether as miners, factory workers, or delivery couriers.

Sector Gamma is renowned for being a largely unexplored sector. Numerous ruins of ancient cities and civilizations lie buried on many of its planets. It was here that the UOS organization discovered an ancient record containing a prophecy. This prophecy states that "in the future, a great event will occur, and it cannot be avoided." Many scientists and archaeologists have attempted to interpret and explain the meaning of the prophecy, but to this day, no one knows for sure when it will happen. As time passed, the public began to view the ancient prophecy as nothing more than a story or myth. However, a select few still believe in the ancient record that was found so long ago.

The people of the Sagitarius galaxy follow a polytheistic belief system. They worship thirteen deities, whom they consider to be the primary gods and protectors of their world.

Within the Sagitarius galaxy, there is also a mysterious energy that flows inside every living being. This flow acts as the soul, emotions, determination, hope, and more. This energy can also grant them power, such as elemental control, enhanced speed, increased physical strength, and much more. This energy flow is even capable of allowing an individual to alter and influence space and time, something far beyond the normal limits of an ordinary being. However, this energy flow also carries serious consequences if its essence is misused or misunderstood. Many have fallen victim to their own negligence, suffering injuries such as severe headaches, nausea, or even having their bones melt, their minds and spirits being corrupted, and the most fatal consequence being death. Despite this, the people of the Sagitarius galaxy use this energy for technological advancements and other purposes.

The military also uses this energy as a core part of their power and weaponry, whether it's for energy bullets, armor that can more efficiently absorb attacks, or technology combined with the power of this energy flow, among many other things.

UOS scientists have also been studying this mysterious energy, conducting numerous experiments with it. The most famous was when the scientists attempted to create a dimensional portal that would connect one place to another. After many experiments and extensive research, the scientists agreed to give the mysterious energy flow a name: Leystream.

Within the Sagitarius galaxy, the United of Sagittarius faces a resistance organization called Eclipse. This organization aims to fight the UOS's influence in the galaxy, liberate and help the oppressed, and intends to replace the UOS's position in controlling the galaxy with the goal of creating a new, clean, and just government for all elements of society.

In the year 5 NS (New Star era), the United of Sagitarius, or UOS for short, was opening a new recruitment drive for members of its divisions.

The news of the recruitment was met with fervent enthusiasm from young people across the entire Sagitarius galaxy sector. Joining one of the UOS divisions guaranteed a secure life and protection from the galactic government.

January 5 NS was the month when registration opened. Throngs of young people flocked to Planet Romeus, the central governing planet and primary UOS operations base, where The Haast main headquarters, the registration center for anyone wishing to join the UOS was located. The Haast itself was situated in the heart of Nexus City, the capital of Romeus.

Among the many young people arriving, two girls, seemingly close friends, could be seen: one a blonde-haired human named Valencia Regina, and the other a white-haired elf named Marina Florence.

"Hey, which division are you aiming for? I see you're carrying quite a few files, enough that you need to use your drone," Valencia said, carrying her own bag of documents, noting that Marina's load was much heavier than hers.

"Uh, I-I plan to join the Science Division. And about all these files, I-I heard the Science Division requires a lot of data for registration," Marina replied, her blue hair hanging down as her hands busied themselves controlling her owl-shaped drone.

"Hehe, I'm going for the Spartan Division. I really want to be on the front line. Protecting others, including you." Valencia suddenly pinched Marina's cheek, startling her.

"Ihh... cut it out," Marina protested, her face visibly flushing red and her long ears twitching.

"Haha, just kidding. Why are you always so nervous? Just relax!" Valencia pulled her hand away from Marina's face and chuckled.

"Hmph, you're always so unpredictable!" Marina appeared annoyed by Valencia's earlier antics.

"Hehehe, sorry, my pretty elf friend. I was bored." The sound of footsteps was loud in the Haast district they were passing through, and Valencia gave a small smile, watching Marina's constant nervousness.

Valencia glanced at her wristwatch; it was 9 a.m. Around them, many young people like themselves carried registration documents. Some used drones like Marina, some used robots, and others carried their files the conventional way.

In the sky, many UOS military spacecraft were seen moving in and out of The Haast headquarters, while commercial spacecraft were also flying away, leaving Nexus City and Planet Romeus.

The sounds of flying cars in the distance, magnetic trains running below the district, and much more filled the air. This city seemed tireless in welcoming everyone who arrived.

Finally, they reached the gate of The Haast main headquarters, a gigantic base nicknamed the "Eye of Dominion" across the Sagitarius galaxy.

"Wow... that's incredible!" Valencia stared at the towering, massive gate. "Hey look, there's even a clock on one of the gate doors!" Valencia pointed to a gigantic clock located on the headquarters gate.

"L-let's go in, Valen, we can't wait too long." Marina walked ahead, while Valencia was still mesmerized by the headquarters. "Hey, hurry up," Marina turned back and saw Valencia still standing, looking up, urging her to quickly enter the base to complete the registration.

"Y-yeah, I'm coming, my beautiful friend, wait a moment." After admiring the headquarters gate, Valencia immediately approached Marina, who had been waiting for her.

The atmosphere inside the headquarters, after passing through the gate, was extremely crowded. Many UOS troops were busy with their respective duties: some were carrying large boxes with the help of robots and drones, some were fixing things, and others were helping set up the registration tents for the UOS's new recruits.

"There are so many people here. Where do you think the registration tents are?" Valencia looked around, searching for the location of each division's registration tents.

Suddenly, a UOS soldier approached them, having seemingly noticed their confusion.

"Ahem, can I help you, miss?" The soldier, with a firm and authoritative voice, asked Valencia if she needed assistance.

"Uh, yes, sir. I wanted to ask, where are the registration tents for each division located?" Valencia looked at the soldier, who had a tall, athletic build with a handsome face, blonde hair, and red eyes.

"Oh, the registration tents. Which division are you heading to, miss?" The soldier's voice seemed to utterly captivate Valencia.

"Uh, the Spartan Division, sir. My friend here is going to the Science Division," Valencia replied with sparkling eyes, informing him that she was going to Spartan while Marina was going to Science.

"Hmm, Spartan and Science Divisions, I see. In that case, you go straight ahead and then turn right; there will be a soldier to guide you there. As for your blue-haired friend, take the path to the left from here, go straight, and you will meet some soldiers who will guide you," the soldier instructed, pointing the direction with his hand, telling them the location of the registration tents for the divisions they were interested in.

"A-ah, thank you, sir, for showing us the way. We'll be going now." Afterward, Valencia immediately walked away with Marina, leaving the soldier. "Alright, be careful, miss," the soldier then resumed his activities.

After they had walked a little distance, Valencia talked to Marina about the soldier they had just met.

"Did you see that? He was so handsome, authoritative, and cool. Especially with his red eyes, oh my goodness, what am I saying!" Valencia seemed giddy because the soldier had successfully made her lose focus.

"Y-yeah, he was cool, but Valen, we have to finish our business here!" Marina was also impressed by the soldier but remained focused, unlike Valencia.

"Oh, right. Well then, I'll go ahead and finish my registration! Hehe! See you later, my beautiful elf friend." After Valencia said that, she ran off, leaving Marina behind.

"Y-yes, be careful, Valen." From a distance, Marina watched Valencia, who still seemed distracted because of the handsome soldier they had just met.

"Huh... Valen, seriously, meeting a handsome guy and immediately losing focus. Oh well, I still have my own business to finish." Marina looked at the Science Division registration tent to her left, then walked towards it.

The two separated to complete their respective errands. A few hours later, the time was 5 p.m. local time. Valencia was seen meeting Marina, who was sitting in a park near the headquarters gate, waiting while eating ice cream.

"So you finished a while ago?" Valencia looked exhausted from running from the gate, sweat pouring down her face.

"Yeah, apparently the Science Division is fast. When I got to the tent, they just told me to hand over my files and answer a few of their questions." While eating her ice cream, Marina watched Valencia panting.

"My Spartan Division wasn't like that, huh. After I gave them the files, I had to answer some questions too, but then it was followed by a brief physical test. Huft, that's what took so long!" Valencia was still catching her breath from the physical test she had just completed.

"In that case, just rest first. Come sit next to me." Marina shifted to make room for Valencia on the bench.

"Huft, finally. I'm so tired...!" Valencia sat down next to Marina, still sweating profusely.

"Hey, where did you buy that?" Valencia's eyes were fixed on the vanilla ice cream Marina was eating. "Over there, there's a mobile ice cream vendor with a car." Marina pointed towards the location of the ice cream truck across the park. "Alright then, I'm going to buy some first, you stay here, okay." Valencia then stood up and ran again towards the ice cream vendor.

"Yes, be careful. And she's running again. Typical Valen," Marina thought, watching Valencia sprint off even after saying she was exhausted. She was mystified by her friend's behavior.

The light from Planet Romeus's main star illuminated the planet, coloring the sky a soft blue. From above, Nexus City remained busy, even during the evening rush hour.
