Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty-Eight: Revelation

There's not a day that goes by without me asking myself why I'm still alive, breathing in a world that came from an anime we used to watch just to pass the time.

Seriously, how is something like this even possible?

Sure, we've seen this kind of thing countless times in stories. Someone dies, gets reincarnated into another world, and somehow ends up living a completely different life. At first, it's entertaining. Then it becomes predictable. Eventually, you've read so many of these stories that the whole concept starts feeling repetitive.

But never in my wildest dreams did I think something like that would actually happen to me.

Even if, somewhere deep down, I'd sometimes fantasized about it.

Yeah, like every person who's ever read an isekai or reincarnation story at least once...

But why the hell did it have to be this fucking MHA?!

I mean, seriously! Out of all the possible worlds, why this one? Why couldn't I have been reincarnated as a Saiyan? Or maybe into some fantasy world where magic exists and becoming ridiculously powerful is actually an option?

No, instead, I ended up in a world where people can develop superpowers, where heroes and villains fight each other, and where apparently even the laws governing reality are more complicated than I could have ever imagined.

And the worst part?

I'm not even sure whether surviving here is a blessing or a curse.

"Grey."

Yeah, I know I'm breathing right now. Thanks for reminding me.

Why couldn't I have been reincarnated into a world where the biggest problem was finding a decent place to live?

"...Grey."

Maybe I should have picked a novel to reincarnate into instead.

"FUCKING PAY ATTENTION, GREY!"

That finally snapped me out of my thoughts.

I slowly raised my head, only to find Anna staring directly at me, her expression somewhere between annoyance and exhaustion.

Right.

Anna.

Another reincarnated person, just like me.

And apparently, while I was busy dealing with my own problems, she'd somehow managed to take control of the situation.

Or, more accurately, she'd become the person everyone looked to whenever something needed to be decided.

And there we were, sitting in a meeting.

A meeting about how to fight the Creator.

Yeah. Because apparently, fighting an entity capable of manipulating the very existence of our world was now part of our daily routine.

Looking around, I realized that quite a few things had changed during my absence.

Anna was standing at the front of the room, explaining our current situation. Around her were several familiar faces, including members of the League of Villains.

Shigaraki was sitting quietly, his attention focused on Anna. All For One, on the other hand, seemed unusually relaxed, almost as though he were enjoying the entire situation.

And then there was Toga.

Well, she was Toga.

"So, like I was saying, we now know that there are other worlds," Anna continued. "We've also established that the Creator cannot directly interfere with this world because of the World Sphere."

She paused, allowing everyone to process the information.

"The sphere acts as a boundary between him and this world. More importantly, it prevents him from exercising his full authority here."

"What's taking so long? Can we speed this up, please?"

Toga, who had apparently lost interest in the explanation, decided to speak her mind.

I glanced at her.

Of course.

Some things never change.

While I was still trying to understand what had happened during my absence, something else caught my attention.

The others' reactions.

Unlike All For One, who was simply smiling, the rest seemed rather uncomfortable. Some even looked almost terrified, staring at Toga as if she'd just done something they couldn't possibly understand.

It took me a moment to realize why.

They weren't simply reacting to her interruption.

They were reacting to something else.

Perhaps they were still getting used to the idea that the people sitting around this table weren't exactly the people they thought they were.

After all, some of them had already learned the truth.

The truth that their entire world was nothing more than a fictional setting in another reality.

And yet, we hadn't told everyone.

Not because we wanted to deceive them, but because some truths were difficult to accept, especially when they concerned the very nature of one's existence.

Meanwhile, Kaori gently pulled Eri, who was sitting beside her, onto her lap. She gave the little girl a reassuring smile before returning her attention to the discussion.

I couldn't help but notice that.

Despite everything happening around us, she was still trying to make Eri feel safe.

It was strange.

We were discussing the fate of an entire world, yet there were still people here trying to preserve the little bits of normality they had left.

"So, can we get back to the important part?" Toga insisted.

Anna closed her eyes for a brief moment.

I could almost hear her patience running out.

"Listen carefully. I won't repeat myself."

"Scary..."

Toga smiled.

And then—

BOOOOOOM!

The wall exploded.

A cloud of dust filled the room as several pieces of debris scattered across the floor.

When the dust finally settled, Toga was lying on the ground, having been sent flying across the room.

For a moment, nobody said anything.

"Maybe you'll learn to shut up after losing your tongue," Anna said coldly.

Toga slowly lifted her head.

"What the hell?!"

"I think I like her more this way," All For One commented, his smile widening slightly.

I stared at the scene.

Well, at least Anna knew how to keep everyone focused.

Though I wasn't entirely sure whether destroying the wall was necessary.

"Can we continue now?" Anna asked.

Nobody objected.

Even Toga seemed to have decided that silence was the better option.

Anna turned back towards the group.

"Now, as I was saying, the Creator cannot directly interfere with this world because of the World Sphere. More specifically, without it, he would lose his authority over this world."

Shigaraki slightly raised his hand.

"What do you mean by that?"

Anna looked at him.

"If this sphere is what prevents him from interfering with our world, why does it seem like it protects us from him? Wouldn't destroying it be the best way to stop him?"

"Because destroying it would mean the end of this world," All For One answered.

His voice was calm, almost casual.

Everyone turned towards him.

"You can trust me on this. We tested it ourselves. And we wouldn't be here today without the help of that little girl."

His gaze briefly shifted towards Eri.

The little girl seemed confused by the attention, but Kaori gently patted her shoulder.

"Wait a minute," Shigaraki interrupted. "You're telling me that this thing is the reason our world exists, but it's also the reason the Creator can't control it completely?"

"That's one way to put it," I replied.

I leaned forward slightly.

"The sphere is connected to the very functioning of this world. Everything here, including the abilities you possess, originates from it. It's not just some protective barrier. It's part of the world's foundation."

I paused, trying to find the right words.

"Think of it as the core of an entire system. If you damage it, you don't simply weaken the system. You risk shutting everything down."

"So, even if we know its weakness, we can't use it," Kurogiri remarked.

"Then how are we supposed to defeat him?" another person asked.

Nobody answered immediately.

That was the problem.

We knew the Creator had limitations. We knew the sphere was somehow preventing him from exercising his full power.

But knowing an enemy's weakness and being able to exploit it were two completely different things.

"We need to find another way," Anna finally said. "Destroying the sphere isn't an option. We have to find a way to separate the Creator from it without damaging the structure that sustains this world."

"That sounds easier said than done," Shigaraki muttered.

"Obviously," I replied.

All For One chuckled quietly.

"Nevertheless, I believe we should focus on understanding the nature of the sphere before deciding how to deal with the Creator. There is still much we don't know."

"Excuse me, but I have a question."

Everyone turned towards Spinner.

"Why is this Creator so obsessed with Eri? Why would he go as far as creating all this chaos just for him?"

That question caught my attention.

Actually, it was something I'd been wondering about as well.

The Creator's actions seemed excessive, even by the standards of someone who could manipulate an entire world.

What exactly did he want from Eri?

And why was he willing to go so far to obtain it?

I glanced towards Anna.

She seemed to understand what I was thinking, but neither of us answered immediately.

"We don't have enough information to give you a definite answer," she eventually said. "But it's clear that Eri is connected to something much bigger than we initially thought."

"Then shouldn't we make finding out what he wants our priority?" Shigaraki asked.

"That's part of the plan," Anna replied. "But we also need to prepare for the possibility that the Creator will eventually find another way to interfere with us."

The room fell silent again.

There was no point pretending that we had everything under control.

We didn't.

We were facing an enemy whose true nature we barely understood, in a world whose existence was apparently tied to something we couldn't afford to destroy.

And yet, we had no choice but to keep moving forward.

The discussion continued for several hours.

We went over the information we had gathered, discussed possible strategies, and tried to identify any weaknesses that could be exploited.

There were disagreements, naturally.

Some wanted to focus on strengthening our forces. Others believed that understanding the World Sphere was more important.

All For One occasionally offered his thoughts, although I couldn't help wondering whether his suggestions were entirely trustworthy.

After all, this was still All For One.

Even when he was helping us, I wasn't about to forget what kind of person he was.

Eventually, we managed to establish a plan.

It wasn't perfect, far from it, but it was the best we could come up with given the information available.

And for now, that would have to be enough.

---

It was already past midnight when someone entered the room.

I was sitting on the edge of the bed, going over everything we'd discussed earlier.

The door opened quietly.

Anna stepped inside.

She looked exhausted.

Her shoulders were slightly lowered, and there were visible signs of fatigue on her face.

I couldn't blame her.

She'd spent the entire day coordinating everyone, dealing with the League of Villains, and trying to organize a plan against an enemy who could potentially destroy everything.

"You're still awake?" she asked.

"Couldn't sleep."

I glanced at her before moving slightly to make room.

"Come here. Sit down."

She hesitated for a moment before approaching and taking a seat beside me.

For a few seconds, neither of us said anything.

The silence wasn't particularly uncomfortable. After everything we'd been through, I suppose we'd both gotten used to these quiet moments.

Eventually, she turned towards me.

"So, what is it that you wanted to tell me? Something you didn't want the others to hear?"

I looked at her.

"Yeah. It's about what we discussed earlier during the meeting. I think you need to know something, even if it's going to come as a big shock."

She raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? And what is it?"

"You see, that sphere we talked about earlier... We only told you the part that concerns this world."

She nodded, silently encouraging me to continue.

"In reality, it's also connected to our world."

"Our world?"

I nodded.

"I mean, our original world. The one where you and I both died."

"What?"

The shock was immediately visible on her face.

For a moment, she simply stared at me, as if trying to determine whether I'd just made some kind of joke.

But I wasn't joking.

I could more or less guess what was going through her mind.

Perhaps she was thinking that this connection could offer us a way back.

That maybe, somehow, the sphere could serve as a bridge between the two worlds.

I understood the thought.

After all, who wouldn't want to return home?

To see their family again.

To meet their friends.

To experience the life they'd lost.

But was that really possible?

I didn't want to give her false hope.

"Like I said, this thing is connected to our original world. And it also proves that we're really dead over there."

Her expression changed slightly.

I noticed a faint smile forming on her face.

It was difficult to tell what she was thinking, but perhaps she'd simply accepted the reality of our situation.

Or maybe, for a brief moment, she'd allowed herself to imagine what returning home would be like.

I looked away.

"Anyway, I don't think that's the only thing you should be concerned about."

She turned towards me.

"So, I suppose that's not the only reason you wanted to talk to me about this sphere. Don't beat around the bush. Just tell me what you have to say."

She paused before adding:

"I can take whatever comes."

I let out a small sigh.

"Alright."

I gathered my thoughts before continuing.

"Like I said, you already know that this sphere is important to this world. But it's also connected to our former world."

She nodded.

"But what I didn't tell you is what actually makes it so important."

I paused.

"This sphere is made up of souls."

Her expression remained unchanged for a second.

"And those souls..."

I looked directly at her.

"...came from our world."

"What?!"

Her voice rose immediately.

"What are you talking about? That can't be true! Don't you think your theory is going a little too far? Why would this world need all those souls for...?"

She stopped.

Her words slowly faded as the realization began to take shape.

I didn't interrupt her.

I simply waited.

Because I knew exactly what she was about to understand.

Her eyes widened slightly.

She looked at me again, as if hoping I would deny the conclusion she'd just reached.

But I didn't.

"Yes," I said quietly.

"Exactly what you're thinking."

For a few seconds, the room was completely silent.

"...The very same souls that created this..."

She swallowed.

"...world."
