I'd spent all of yesterday with him.
I'd even been with him this morning.
And somehow, I was still excited to see him again.
I had never been like this with anyone before. I had never craved someone's presence, had never felt my heart lift at the simple sight of them. But Kasteil was different. Kasteil was everything. He was the quiet that settled over me when the world got too loud. He was the reason I kept saying yes to things that terrified me. He was the reason I was standing in a hallway outside a private golf course trying not to fall apart and succeeding only because he was here.
Kasteil hugged me back, one arm settling around my waist as he pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head.
I closed my eyes and let myself sink into the embrace, letting the world fade away until there was nothing but him. His scent wrapped around me. I breathed it in like oxygen. My fingers curled lightly into the fabric of his shirt.
