Chapter 5 - Unexpected Surprise

Reinh slowly opened his eyes. When his eyes opened, he felt a short moment of headache and dizziness, but after a few seconds it settled down.

He looked around himself. When he fainted, he was in a completely empty room, but now he was lying on his own bed. A blanket was covering him, and it seemed like a hot towel was on his forehead.

He picked up the towel and looked at it for a moment. It was a normal towel without anything strange about it.

Then he put it on the table beside his bed, and his eyes fell on a woman who was sitting on a chair next to the table, but her head had fallen onto his bed, and it seemed like she was asleep.

His eyes were still cold and emotionless, but when he looked at that woman, he could not stop some memories from his past life from replaying in his mind.

It seemed like his slight movement woke the woman up. She lifted her head and yawned, and then, as if she had seen something unbelievable, she rubbed her eyes to make sure she was not dreaming.

"Young Master, you finally woke up!" Lia shouted with a happy and excited tone and wanted to hug Reinh. But he gently moved his body a little and did not allow such a thing.

"Ah… sorry, I just got too excited!" When Lia realized what she was about to do, she became a little scared and immediately stood up and spoke respectfully.

Reinh did not like intimate physical contact, especially being hugged, and he had this habit since childhood. She knew that what she almost did could have made her young master angry.

"I'm fine." But Reinh spoke with a calm and indifferent tone, as if he did not care at all.

When Lia saw that she was not scolded, she let out a breath of relief. Then she immediately placed her hand on her young master's forehead to check his condition.

"What exactly did you do to yourself? Two days ago when we found you unconscious, your mind was in chaos and your soul looked like it could break apart at any moment!" she then said with a serious tone, but the worry in her eyes was completely clear.

Only God knew how terrified both she and August were when they found Reinh unconscious. And all of this was happening in a condition a ten-year-old child should never be in.

"It's nothing important. But two days? I was unconscious for two days?"

"What do you mean it's nothing important? You were almost dead! And yes, two days have passed." Lia did not know if her young master was stubborn or if he was really emotionless and cold.

Otherwise, how could someone be this indifferent about almost dying?

"I see. It seems my body is still much weaker than I thought." Reinh whispered coldly, but his tone was so cold that it was impossible to tell if he was truly disappointed or if he was just saying it casually.

"What do you mean?"

"Where is August?"

"Mr. August was here half an hour ago, but he said something came up and he had to leave," Lia said with a bit of jealousy.

She and her young master were not allowed to leave the Tyrant palace under any condition for twelve years.

If they even left the palace grounds once, Reinh would completely lose his right and position as a Vorhelm and would be expelled from the Clan.

But August did not have such a limit. Even though he lived with them, he could come and go whenever he wanted.

"I see. You must be tired. You should go and rest a little."

"I'm fine, Young Master. I will go and make you Three-Head Chicken Soup now. It should help with your recovery and make your condition better." Lia smiled, and then she left.

After she left, Reinh's indifferent eyes suddenly became cold. His killing intent slowly leaked from his eyes, and he looked at a corner of the room.

"You better show yourself." he spoke with a tone as cold as the coldest winter, a tone so cold it could make bones shake.

It was not clear what or who he was talking to, but there was nothing in that corner he was looking at. There were only the walls of the room.

But Reinh's eyes looked like they could see through hidden layers.

"You have very powerful intuition." A laughing voice suddenly filled the whole room.

In the corner of the room, a miniature shape formed from the air. Even Reinh's eyelids shook for a moment when he saw the miniature figure. But it was not only because of its shape.

It was because of the strange feeling of closeness he felt with that miniature shape. It was like he was looking at himself in a mirror.

But how could he feel such closeness toward a dragon? And not just any dragon, but such a beautiful and majestic dragon that looked like it was the greatest among heaven and earth?

"Ancestral Dragon." A stupid and impossible guess entered his mind, but at the moment it felt like the most logical guess.

He had never seen a dragon with his own eyes before, but he doubted any dragon except the oldest one could look this majestic and transcendent.

"So you recognized this great one, kid. Hahaha. Now that you know who I am, why are you not bowing?" the Ancestral Dragon said with pride and arrogance.

But Reinh stared at him with the same cold eyes. It was not clear if he was shocked or if he was analyzing the situation.

"You are really not surprised? Or scared? Are you not afraid I might kill you?"

"Surprised? Maybe. After all, it is not normal for a dragon to appear in front of you out of nowhere, especially the oldest one. But scared?" Reinh answered with indifference.

"You are nothing more than a spirit. If you were real, when you laughed and shouted, Lia would have heard your voice, and you would have crushed my killing intent with your aura. Clearly, you do not have the power to touch the world." he added.

The Ancestral Dragon did not say anything after hearing his words. Instead, his eyes became cold, and he looked at Reinh like he was staring at a worthless and weak insect.

Reinh felt the smell of death. He felt death was getting close to him…

When was the last time he felt this feeling? It felt like it was just yesterday, the day his heart was taken out and he was executed in front of humanity.

He did not know if this smell of death he felt now was only an illusion or if death was truly coming after him, but he knew he could not do anything.

It felt like the temperature around him was dropping.

"All my life I have met beings who call themselves alive… but all of them, without exception, were slaves to the fear of death. This is the nature of all those who breath."

"But when I look at you… I see nothing in your eyes… no nature. No reaction. Your eyes are more empty than death itself." the dragon's voice echoed again.

"So I was really wrong. Someone has finally managed to break the curse."
