Chapter 5 - chapter 5

Alex Pov:

"You are late, Alex." Xavier, my father's adviser, spat; he is the only one who can question me without being fearful or respectful.

I made my way to my seat, scanning across the room was my father's council of elders, Xavier and Maxwell, the chief warrior. "So much for a great entry". I thought as I sat down elegantly

"You still haven't given us an answer," one of the council of elders said.

" Ohh," I muttered, "My father hasn't given you all a reply. He is probably too busy making my mother have the time of her life" I spoke nonchalantly, ignoring the strange looks they exchanged.

Xavier looked at me with exasperation. He is the same age as me but was made my father's right-hand man due to his knowledge of everything. "you can't keep doing this Alexander, many nations rely on this arrangement and it is going to cause a dispute if we don't give a reply early"

I groaned. "This is why you were made his right-hand man, I possibly can't take your job now considering you are the best at it"

"Of course, my prince, I am the best at everything, but this is your life, which is going to be ruined if I make the decision," he smirked, knowing that I would get angry.

I clenched my hands to keep them from breaking his perfectly straight nose or face. "I am not marrying her". I said

The once quiet room erupted into murmurs, and elders glanced my way with worried concern.

"My prince" an elder stood up "you are not getting younger but older by the day, your father, the king sent many marriage proposals to every nation but you have rejected all of them and you haven't provided a lady that you are in love with or want her as a Luna"

"I am not my father and I already told him that I am not getting married to anybody because I need it for the throne, I don't want a weak creature to be my mate" I spat, my eyes burning from anger

"Then I will send your reply to them and your father," Xavier said, not surprised about my answer

"The meeting is over, and I want the warrior's assembly in the training arena," I barked at Maxwell, Chief of the Warrior and my beta.

The elders begin to stroll out of the chamber room, leaving only Xavier and Maxwell behind.

"I heard there was a problem in the arena, and some of the warriors were injured," my voice toned, suppressing the anger that was brewing inside me.

" Yes, my prince, but it was quickly resolved, and the injured ones were given treatment. The warriors that couldn't shapeshift were the ones injured," he explained as he bowed his head.

"I thought the criteria for any werewolf to be a warrior is to have the ability to shapeshift. I don't want them in the training arena anymore; assign them to protect the barrier entrance," I commanded.

"Yes, my prince, what about the mating ceremony? We need more guards on that day than them on the barrier entrance," Maxwell speculated.

"Nothing is going to happen in the mating ceremony if the barrier entrance is protected, and besides, the mating ceremony is tomorrow," I said, my finger tracing the side of my forehead.

"Maybe you are going to feel your mate tomorrow, my prince," Maxwell mused as he made his way out of the chamber room.

"He is right though maybe...."

"Any news about my parents" I mumble, changing the subject

"Your parents are going to be here in time for the mating ceremony," Xavier said

"Good for them," I said, standing up "We can't have a little ceremony without the royal Majesty and his Luna"

Xavier frowned at my sarcasm. I don't care "Alex, your parents gave you the kingdom to run and in 3 months you already captured half of its enemies and made many nations pledge their loyalty to us, they are proud of you and your achievements" he replied

I scoffed " So why did they want me to have a mate before being crowned the king of this pack? Hmm"

Xavier chuckled "Every king, prince or princess needs a Luna before they ascend the throne, you being a mean little brat by rejecting all the proposals great nation has offered"

"You think this is funny Xavier" I look at him

"I don't need a woman to make me strong" I barked at him

"You don't want people to know that our future king doesn't have emotion to commit because a little incident happened before" he restored angrily.

I rushed to him, holding him up against the chair he was sitting on. He looked afraid and trembling, Knowing all too well that I never had someone say those things to me except that they wanted death.

"The Kingdom is my heritage, with or without a Luna, I'm going to sit on the throne as a king" I growled, steam blowing out from my ears. I released him

"Love makes one weak and stupid like my father" as he straightened himself up.

Xavier stood up slowly; his gaze never left my face. He knew that I wouldn't do anything to him, but he knew my temper.

"Alright Alexander, that's your problem not mine, if you need me, you know where to find me"

"Just as weak as before, you are too soft Xavier" I smirked at him.

He laughed bitterly "Yeah because I don't want to be a monster like you that makes people run from him, better change your character or less your mate will reject you before you even meet with her, My prince"

"Enough Xavier, don't push me. Go see whether the arrangement for the ceremony is up to standard and the king and queen room is properly arranged to suit their taste" I commanded, waving my hand as a sign of ending the conversation.

He left me alone in the cold room.
