The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the highest grassy hill on the
Academy grounds.
It was a place far removed from the training halls and the lecture rooms. There
were no marked boundaries here. No targets. No instructors demanding perfection.
Just an open, endless sky and the quiet rustle of the autumn wind through the
trees.
Cain sat on the grass, leaning back on his hands.
To his left, Aera was carefully weaving a small crown out of fallen wildflowers,
humming a quiet, peaceful melody. To his right, Liora sat with her knees pulled
up to her chest, her noble coat discarded on the grass beside her, looking
completely relaxed as she watched the clouds drift by.
A few yards away, Rei was currently losing a wrestling match against Alice's
wind-enhanced grappling techniques, shouting protests while she laughed
triumphantly.
Cain watched them.
He didn't analyze their stances. He didn't calculate their mana output.
He just watched his friends.
There was a profound, unshakeable peace in his chest. The heavy, dark reservoir
of the Black Veil was still there at the base of his spine—it always would be.
It was a part of his foundation now. But it was completely silent. It no longer
pulsed with the instinct to survive, because there was nothing left to survive
against.
He had won the war.
Liora shifted her gaze from the sky, turning her head to look at him. Her silver
eyes were soft, stripped of all their usual aristocratic guard.
"You're quiet today," Liora noted, a faint smile touching her lips.
"I have nothing to report," Cain replied smoothly.
Liora chuckled, reaching over to lightly bump her shoulder against his. "Good.
Keep it that way."
Aera finished her flower crown. She leaned over and, without asking for
permission, placed it directly on top of Cain's dark hair.
Cain froze.
He sat perfectly still, a highly lethal, battle-hardened veteran wearing a crown
of yellow and blue daisies.
Rei, who had just managed to escape Alice's headlock, looked over and
immediately burst into hysterical laughter. "Oh my god! Please tell me someone
has a visual recording crystal! The Second Unmarked, Destroyer of Executors,
wearing a daisy crown!"
"It suits him," Alice grinned, walking over and sitting down next to Rei on the
grass.
Cain didn't take the crown off. He looked at Aera, who was beaming with absolute
pride, and then at Liora, who was trying very hard not to laugh.
"It lacks tactical utility," Cain stated deadpan. "But it is structurally
sound."
The entire group erupted into laughter.
Cain smiled. It wasn't a faint twitch of the lips. It was a real, genuine smile
that reached his eyes.
He looked up at the vast, unbroken blue sky.
He thought of Han Jae-Won, dying in the cold mud, believing his life had
amounted to nothing but failure and lost comrades. He thought of Elios, trapped
in the dark, consumed by a power that had isolated him from the world.
He had carried both of their burdens. He had walked through the fire, shattered
the laws of the gods, and bled for every single inch of ground.
And it had all led him here. To this hill. To these people.
A soft chime rang in his mind.
The translucent blue window unfolded in the air above him. It didn't block his
view of the sky. It just hovered there, clear and bright.

The text paused. The loading circle spun one last time, slower, almost as if the
System was taking a moment to appreciate the view alongside him.
The final lines typed themselves out across his vision.

Cain closed his eyes, letting the warm sunlight wash over his face. He listened
to Rei arguing with Alice, to Aera's soft laughter, to Liora's calm, steady
voice.
He didn't dismiss the window.
He just let it fade away into the light.
The story of the soldier who died in the mud was over. The tragedy of the First
Unmarked was finished.
Cain's soul was finally his own to write.
[ END OF NOVEL ]
Author's Note: We made it, guys. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank
you to every single reader who clicked on Cain: The Unwritten Soul. Thank you to
the silent readers, the binge readers, and the ones who stayed with me through
the hiatuses, the dark arcs, and the brutal fights. Hitting 130k views is a
dream come true, and I couldn't have done it without you.
This story started as an idea about a soldier who couldn't stop fighting, and it
turned into a journey about a broken boy learning how to live. I hope you loved
reading Cain, Rei, Liora, Aera, and Alice as much as I loved writing them.
And to my editor, Zero—thanks for holding the line with me.
As I mentioned before, my next project is a high-school romance anime-style
novel called "A Crash Course on Love." It is already on going so check it out.
Editor's Note: What's up, readers. Zero here, the guy behind the scenes trying
to keep up with Nikhiil's insane brain.
Let me tell you a secret about your author: working with this guy is like
surviving a Floor 59 dungeon break. One minute we're planning a quiet chapter,
and the next he's yelling at me to rewrite the whole thing because I
misunderstood the Black Veil lore. (Yes, he is that strict about giving you guys
absolute peak fiction, and he refuses to let me sugarcoat anything).
But honestly? It has been an absolute privilege. Watching this story grow from a
gritty survival tale into a 130,000-view masterpiece has been an incredible
ride. Nikhiil poured his soul into Cain, Rei, Liora, Aera, and Alice, and he
fought for every single chapter to make sure you guys got the ending you
deserved.
Thank you for reading, for sticking through the dark chapters, and for
supporting this journey. The System is officially logging off. See you in the
next one.
Until next time. Stay safe, stay strapped for greatness, and thank you for
reading. I don't know how many of you have tag till here but bro, of you made it till here mate, i thank you from the bottom of my heart and you can comment your review and rate my novel bro, thx bro
