Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: If you are unhappy

Chapter 29: If you are unhappy, just blow it up

The exterior walls of the mansion were covered in stains.

Dried blood, unidentified vomit, suspicious liquids smeared on the walls, and shocking bullet holes and scratches... Raven surveyed the mansion she was about to enter, her wariness growing stronger. She even felt that the weeds and vines surrounding the mansion carried a deep malice, as if they wanted to drag her into an abyss.

"Hey! Lynn!"

Hearing Deadpool's voice, Raven subconsciously turned her head.

"Click!"

Deadpool took a selfie of the two of them with his phone.

Lynn's face was solemn, while Deadpool flashed a 'V' sign.

Raven was expressionless.

"Are you an idiot?"

"How about it? Isn't this atmosphere great, much better than any haunted house."

Deadpool grinned as he put away his phone, looking at the stains on the wall, and stroked his chin, saying, "The Master here is too lazy; he only likes to collect corpses but doesn't bother to clean the walls."

Hmm?

Raven quickly looked.

Indeed, even though the mansion's exterior walls were a mess, the area around the mansion remained relatively 'clean'.

From the condition of the exterior walls, a fierce battle must have taken place here, but why were there only battle traces?

What about the mercenaries who had lost contact after their previous missions?

Where were their... bodies?

If any of them had survived, they had time to collect bodies, but no time to call for help?

How could that be?

Raven pondered, trying to recall what Deadpool had said.

Honestly, recalling Deadpool's nonsense again and sifting useful information from it was sheer agony.

The Master of this artificial island was a wealthy man named Charles Weyland. He spent a fortune building a research facility on this island.

The purpose of this research facility was to study life-extending drugs.

This research had been going on for over a decade with slow progress, but a month ago, when the institute announced a breakthrough, they suddenly lost contact.

The wealthy man, already in his twilight years, naturally grew anxious. The day after losing contact, he sent people to the island to investigate the cause, stating that if any accident occurred, at the very least, the research data must be brought back.

But everyone sent there lost contact overnight.

Afterward, the wealthy man spent a fortune hiring several batches of mercenaries, but without exception, all of them lost contact.

Deadpool and Raven were the fifth batch of mercenaries to undertake this mission this month.

Is that it?

Is that all?

Raven frowned.

Unknown enemy, unknown numbers, unknown situation... Looking at it this way, the danger of this mission was much higher than she had anticipated.

While Raven was deep in thought, she walked into the mansion with Deadpool.

Inside the mansion, stains were still everywhere, and horrifying bloodstains were visible, but eerily, there were still no bodies.

"It stinks, worse than the Flying Dutchman."

Deadpool pinched his nose, fanning his hand continuously in front of his face.

Raven also frowned, suppressing the urge to gag.

It really did stink here, a fishy, foul odor, as if she had entered some animal's lair.

And... she looked at the suspicious jelly-like substance that had dripped onto the ground and solidified into a patch, her brows knitted together.

What were these things?

They looked like some kind of secretion... Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her and quickly turned to look.

She saw Mr. Hedgehog, looking cool and aloof, walking in with Blob and Vanishing Man.

Raven's eye twitched; she had no desire to greet them.

Although these three were Mutants, she always felt that getting involved with them would be very bad, like she might kick the bucket at any moment.

"Hey! Guys! We're so fated to meet!"

Deadpool happily greeted the three, even rushing up to try and give them a hug.

The mansion had two entrances, and the mercenaries had chosen different landing points, so meeting each other was indeed quite a coincidence.

Mr. Hedgehog's fur turned into hard quills all over his body, like a bristling hedgehog, as he glared fiercely at Deadpool, rejecting Deadpool's hug.

"Get lost! From here on, we're opponents."

Mr. Hedgehog said coldly, pushing away the annoying Deadpool, and quickly walked towards the entrance of the underground research Base.

Deadpool stood still for a few seconds, then said sadly, "I liked them so much, thought of them as friends, and they treat me like this."

Raven narrowed her eyes and retorted, "When you say 'like,' do you mean pulling out Mr. Hedgehog's quills, trying to explode Blob, and maybe smearing some blood on Vanishing Man?"

Deadpool looked at Raven in surprise, dropping a clump of black hair he was holding.

"You saw right through me! You truly resonate with my thoughts."

Raven rolled her eyes at Deadpool and said, "Let's go."

Next to the elevator in the mansion was the staircase leading to the underground laboratory, clearly visible at a glance.

As if afraid people wouldn't notice it.

What exactly was down here?

Bang bang!

Raven's heart jumped, startled by the commotion beside her.

When she saw Deadpool frantically banging on the elevator door, her mouth twitched, feeling an urge to strangle him.

"They must not have maintained the elevator on time!"

Deadpool complained loudly.

"Take the stairs."

Raven told Deadpool.

The research Base had lost contact; it would be strange if the elevator worked.

Moreover, given the unknown situation, even if the elevator worked, she wouldn't choose it.

When she reached the stairwell and saw Deadpool still unwilling to give up, still banging on the elevator door, she finally lost her patience and said, "Quiet down! If you're so annoyed, just blow it up!"

"Wow! Lynn, baby, you're thinking just like me again!"

His white dot eyes lit up, and he took out a bomb from his hot pink backpack and started setting it up.

Once he finished setting it up, he angrily drew his knife, slashed at the elevator's call panel, and gave the elevator the middle finger.

"Go to hell!"

He let out his anger, then turned and ran into the Base entrance.

Boom!

Hearing the explosion behind him, Deadpool cringed.

"I'm feeling better now."

He said, narrowing his eyes, and strode to catch up with Raven.

"Wait for me! I'm afraid of the dark!"

Over the next few minutes, several more teams of mercenaries entered the underground research Base.

Just after all the mercenaries had entered the underground research Base, three figures approached the mansion with solemn expressions.

"They've all gone in."

Zero nodded to Blob and Shadow.

Shadow breathed a sigh of relief.

Their first phase of the mission was complete.

Shadow pressed the brim of his hat and sighed, "The quality of the mercenaries this time is really good."

Besides them, there were actually eight Mutants.

Blob nodded, then suddenly said, "What kind of new species do you think these eight Mutants will produce?"

Zero shrugged, "Who knows? But it will definitely be related to their abilities."

The three exchanged glances, remembering the monsters below referred to as 'Aliens,' and a hint of fear involuntarily appeared on their faces.
