Chapter 2 - Judge

D-doctor! What's happening to her!? Ray yelled gripping his mother's foot tightly.

I- I'm not sure.. her lungs started collapsing. He replied with a bewildered face.

L-lung, collapsing. Ray inwardly repeated with wide eyes. The words were self explanatory. So he knew exactly what the doctor meant.

No! Do something. You have to, s-she can't die. Ray tugged the man's white coat, refusing to believe what he just heard.

O-of course.. we'll do our best. The male doctor gave a nod of determination, but his heart said otherwise.

She's dying.

It wasn't a hidden fact the woman in her 40's was succumbing to the clutches of death. Her skin drained of moisture, eyes glazed and lips dried.

The rapid beeping of the machine besides her, growing more faint by the second. Along with her oxygen level, dropping rapidly.

No~ please.. something's wrong, I can feel it. M-maybe there's some fluid in her chest. Ray hurriedly suggested with hope radiating in his eyes.

No. I've listened to her heart, there isn't a blockage. He shook his head, leaving ray in a dark spot.

B-but-

There's no buts! Look, I know this is hard for you, but you must be prepared for the possible outcome.

Unyielding, ray wanted to persist, but wasn't opportuned to. Escorted out against his will, by 2 nurses. The last thing he heard, was the beeping sound fading. As his mother fought till her last breath.

...

Ha~ I miss you already mom. Ray slowly exhaled, sitting on the vacant bed. Where his mother passed away.

It's a Shane you're not here to scold me. Look at what a mess I made. He chuckled, wiping some blood from his hand to the bedsheet.

The view sure looks peaceful now. A light smile formed on his lips, staring out the window. The cool morning sir brushing against his skin.

8:23am. The digital timer indicated it was still early in the morning.

It's been 6 days now. A single ball of tear slid down his cheek. Accompanied by more tears, flowing freely.

The loss of someone close was heartbreaking and for some torturing. Grief wasn't always the remedy to last, especially if the deceased individual was murdered wrongfully.

Some bold relatives or siblings of such deceased chose revenge. Haunting down the person responsible while some left it all for justice.

Screw the law. If you want something done, you do it yourself. Ray chanted inwardly, mind already made up.

Gazing outside his mind flashed back once again to the previous memories when he was little. The little vacations, the small game nights and camo adventures they never had.

Argh! He screamed in pain. Why!? Why does it still hurts this much.

He questioned with tears streaming down his eyes. He'd expected not to feel anything, after the demise of his mother. Forging a stone heart with only one purpose left.

Ascertain justice his way.

At first it all seemed so clear to him. Get revenge on the people responsible for his mother's death.

Sure she was diagnosed with cancer and lung failure, but he had a gut feeling something was wrong. So he snooped around and obtained information, from two nurses unknowingly.

Those fucking bastards injected her with the wrong medications.

And as if that wasn't enough, they increased the dosage to fake it as a lung failure. Because they were certain of now autopsy being carried out. Considering Ray's poor background and how expensive it was.

Ohh.. looks like we have more company. His lips curved upwards, seeing 2 more police cars. Arriving at the front gate, totalling it to 5.

Wouldn't you agree we entertain our friends here with some little games?

......

Meanwhile outside..

Hold the line! A young man dressed in the officers uniform yelled.

He had long hair tied into a ponytail. Oval face, smooth skin and an alluring face that made him seem more dreamy.

What about the perimeter?

Sir officer yulan! The perimeter from here till the first floor has been secured. The hijacker us locked up in one of the rooms with some hostages. Ruby, a female officer reported with tints if red on her cheeks.

Calmly nodding he dismissed her, placing his hand to his forehead.

I see. The number of hostages are still unknown. Not good.

It was bad enough having a deranged psycho hijack a hospital. But more worse if the numbers of the hostages were high.

Luckily they were able to evacuate most of the hostages.

Why would he simply release them though? It was weird how the hijacker simply let 90% of the hostages leave. Keeping only less than 10%.

Shaking his head he decided to think about that later.

According to this there should be about 50 civilians in total. Including the staffs observing their shifts. 44 were rescued leaving 6. It was a wild guess and risky considering it was just a hunch.

Seems like a disturbance. A voice spike from behind jolting the young officer up.

Ch- chief! My apologies, I didn't notice you'd arrived. Yulan slightly bowed. Not responding, the older man simply tapped his shoulders. Taking a look into the reception booklet.

What's the situation now? Ronnie, the chief and head in command of the 6th division asked.

Not good sur. We got some reports from few of the hostages rescued. The hijacker is in custody of some staffs. Unfortunately their numbers us unclear as there's a possibility more staffs were present up.

Hmm~ I see. Have you tried getting in contact with him?

Yes but he's uninterested in talking sir. We even tried striking a bargain but he refused. Stating he already had what he wanted.

Listening Ronnie gave a light nod, his attention shifting up. The room occupied by ray was at the far end. Directly opposite the gate, with about two windows.

This isn't some random inexperienced hijacker. He plaused.

Usually, most hijackers tend to hold histages, for ransom, or something to bargain with.

But apparently this hijacker did the opposite. Releasing the hostages and retaining the hospital staffs. Now, this usually meant this was planned and they were targeted. But something else stuck out.

He's without any accomplices.

Now this was certainly odd, as hijackers tends to operate in pairs and not singles. Usually to make job more easier and efficient.

What's his motive? Ronnie thought couldn't quite placing his finger on it.

Ransom for money was out of question, along with mass murder. The only scenario leaned towards revenge.

We're you able to get an identification of the man?

Ehhm.. yes. One of the hostages managed to recognize him. Yulan said bringing out a nearly folded piece of paper from his pocket.

Ray falco. Age 19, job student. Ronnie's eye widened a bit, reading the last words.

So his mother passed away 6 days ago and now he blames the hospital for her demise.

That seems to be the case sir. It's reasonable considering his age to not cope with such mental distraught. He probably lost it and decided this was the best course to take.

Placing his hand to his chin, Ronnie skimmed through the book. Retracing the previous attendance. Watching him, yulan was a bit confused but close to remain silent.

Of course! The former sighed, slightly shaking his head.

Among these names on the list I've narrowed down 6 which occured more frequently than the rest staffs.

That's strange, I hadn't noticed that before.

Of course. At first glance it appears like a normal regular check in but there's a catch. For the past 6 days each of these 6 staffs checked in at exactly 11:15am. Then the rest arrived at a time interval of 2 minutes.

Looking closer yulan could see it. They appeared to check in at exactly 11:15am after the 23rd of November.

The exact same day the hijacker mother passed. Ronnie finished, his expression shifting.

Taking a sip from his coffee he continued. I fear this might be an accidental murder case. The mother came in sick something went wrong. Perhaps a faulty line or poor maintenance. They tried to cover it up but couldn't. And now here we are.

Of course.. Ronnie stuttered facepalming his head. He'd been trying to wrap his head around Ray's motive but couldn't.

He was aware the mother passed from cancer but an autopsy was never carried out. So he didn't pursue that ange further.

You're really amazing chief! Yulan declared with inspirational eyes which Ronnie simply chuckled.

This! Thud! Thud!

What's happening?

T-the hijacker, he's tossing the staffs.

Shit. Ronnie cursed his face instantly turning grey. Grabbing a microphone he rushed to the first line of defense.

My name is chief Ronnie Fisher and I understand your anger. But however right you feel your motive or intention is, it's wrong. You don't have to be the judge of their rates.

Stopping, ray looked down. And for a moment it seemed Ronnie's words had gotten to him.

Really? I never thought of it that way. He innocently spoke tilting his head a bit to the side.

It's alright we all make mistakes. Why don't you come down and I promise.. we'll get you the justice you deserve. Ronnie spoke to which ray nodded.

Turning he stopped in his tracks, deliberating about something.

You're right. Justice must be served. He smirked pressing a red button. Making Ronnie's face go blank.

Boom!

A huge explosion occured, before anyone could react. Wiping out a large portion of the hospital.
