Chapter 1 - The Unceremonious Demise

Kaze stared blankly at the computer screen, his mind numb from another soul-crushing day of spreadsheets and meetings. The fluorescent lights above seemed to hum in sync with the dull ache in his head.

Suddenly, the phone on his desk rang, shattering the silence. Kaze sighed, reaching for the receiver. "Hello?"

The voice on the other end was cheerful, if a bit too chipper. "Kaze, it's HR. We just wanted to remind you about the mandatory team-building workshop on Friday."

Kaze's eyes widened in horror. "Uh, can't I just... opt out?"

The voice on the phone turned icy. "I'm afraid not, Kaze. It's mandatory."

Kaze's grip on the phone faltered, and it slipped from his grasp, landing with a clatter on the desk. As he bent to pick it up, he felt a searing pain in his chest.

The world around him began to blur, and he stumbled out of his chair, crashing to the floor.

As he lay there, staring up at the ceiling, Kaze felt a strange sense of relief wash over him. The pain, the boredom, the soul-crushing meetings... it was all over.

A figure appeared above him, halo and all. "Ah, Kaze. Time to go."

Kaze blinked, trying to process the situation. "Uh, hi?"

The figure, who looked suspiciously like a middle-aged man with a bad haircut, smiled. "I'm God. Welcome to your judgment."

Kaze's eyes widened. "Judgment? But I've been a good boy! I recycle, I donate to charity..."

God chuckled. "Sorry, Kaze. You're getting reincarnated... in a world of magic, where you'll be born into a respectable family. You'll have a chance to start anew, make a difference. And, uh, try not to mess it up, okay?"

Kaze's vision began to fade, and he felt himself being sucked into a vortex. "Wait, what? Magic? What kind of magic?"

The last thing he heard was God's voice, echoing in his mind. "The kind where you don't have any... have fun!"

And then, everything went black.
