Chapter 17 - THE RETURN OF THE LINEAGES AND THE BROKEN OATH

Harry woke before dawn, checked his legal notes, and dressed in his dragon-traveling robes. As he left the inn, he felt the morning chill.

Upon arriving at Gringotts, he paused beneath the marble threshold. Passing through the goblin guards, Harry nodded, reading the motto above the entrance.

"Enter, stranger, but beware

of what awaits the sin of greed,

for those who take and gain nothing

will pay dearly."

With a smile, he walked directly to the main counter.

"Good morning. I'm Harry Potter. I've come to see the steward with jurisdiction over the Vaults of Ancient and Noble Houses to discuss matters of Lordship and Inheritance."

The goblin sent him to the lineage steward, Gripclaw. In the office, Gripclaw took out the ceremonial knife and the parchment. Harry pricked his finger without hesitation. The drop of blood fell, and the parchment burst into flames with a dense purple glow, revealing the ancestral seals.

| Lineage | Title Status |

| Potter | Lord (Active, Successful Claim) | |

| Peverell | Lord (Active, Successful Claim) | |

| Black | Designated Heir (By Blood Oath) | |

Gripclaw scanned the list, his face hardening with surprise. "By Gringotts! Lord Potter-Peverell… and Heir to the House of Black by Sworn Wizarding Adoption of Sirius Black."

Gripclaw slid three boxes of rings toward Harry. The contact with them was a jolt of mana.

Harry took the ring of the senior house, Peverell. It was freezing, and the silver blackened with obsidian absorbed the light. He felt as if he were holding not an object, but a fragment of destiny.

He slipped it onto the ring finger of his right hand. A paralyzing chill coursed up his arm. Peverell Magic, bound to destiny and the understanding of Death, flowed into his Core. The ring didn't recognize him; it tested him. The cold intensified, challenging his will and his fear of the void.

Harry, whose Mana had been forged in combat and the risk of death, stood firm. The tension lasted an eternity. The invisible Ogham runes—ᚇ Duir, ᚔ Idho, ᚁ Beith—brightened briefly in pure violet. The cold dissipated, replaced by a deep, ancient resonance. He had been judged worthy of Death.

In his mind, he heard, "We accept the end and return whole."

Harry took the Potter house ring and slipped it onto the middle finger of his right hand. Made of old gold and milky green jade, it was slightly warm.

The Potter Ring didn't test him; it embraced him. At contact, a wave of protective, familiar, and violent heat enveloped his hand. It was Lily and James's magic.

Gripclaw blinked; a soft green light enveloped the ring for an instant. The home's protection unconditionally recognized its heir. Similar to the Peverell ring, he heard the words "Fanann muid chun cosaint"—"We remain to protect."

The Black Heir Ring was polished silver and black onyx, engraved with "Toujours Pur." Harry felt repulsed, but the ring granted him the necessary access. He slipped it onto the little finger of his right hand. This ring didn't test him; he only felt the protections it offered.

Gripclaw, who had witnessed the rare activation of a Peverell Ring and the Potter recognition, swallowed hard. The boy wasn't just rich; he was powerfully magical and legitimate.

"Now, Lord Potter-Peverell," Gripclaw continued, "regarding your trust vault... there is a hold on funds authorized by Professor Albus Dumbledore..."

Harry interrupted, his voice imbued with newfound authority.

"I know the structure, Lord Gripclaw. The hold applies only to unclaimed minor accounts. Clause Tempus 14:3, Subsection B. The hold is lifted upon formal claim of the Lord's Ring. You owe me immediate and full access to all my assets. Lift the hold at once."

Grippclaw hesitated no longer. "It shall be lifted, my Lord. It is your birthright."

"Excellent. Now, I'd like to hear my parents' will."

Grippclaw unfurled a yellowed parchment.

"We, James and Lily Potter, being of sound mind, leave all our movable and immovable property, lands, and family wealth to our only son, Harry James Potter, immediately. Trust Vault 608 is to be established to cover his school and living expenses until his emancipation or reaching the age of majority. In the tragic event of our death, we wish Harry to be delivered to his sworn godfather, Sirius Orion Black."

Harry clenched his fists. His mana surged at the mention of his imprisoned godfather's name.

"If for any reason Sirius cannot be found, guardianship will pass to Alice and Frank Longbottom." >

> "If the Longbottoms are not viable, guardianship will pass to the Honorable Amelia Susan Bones, due to her integrity and the blood ties that bind our families through my mother, Euphemia Bones-Potter.">

> "Our last wish is that, if none of the above are viable, guardianship will go to Andromeda Tonks.">

Gripclaw pointed to the marginal note and the runes indicating the annulment of the will's reading by the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.

"Since the annulment was approved by your government and Albus Dumbledore was approved as guardian in Wizarding Great Britain, Gringotts had to grant him access to his trust vault. You can view the account activity with your account manager."

" "Thank you for the information, Mr. Gripclaw," said Harry, his voice icy.

"Now, one detail: Although he is a Lord, he cannot participate in the Wizengamot until he is sixteen. He must appoint a Regent to vote on his behalf. If he does not choose one, the Wizengamot will choose an ally to cast his double vote. You can review all of this with your account manager; that would be all from me."
