Chapter 10: Absolutely Impossible
"I was just giving an example, Aura-sama. If I could use Magic, that's how I would do it."
While speaking, Fingal handed the apple to Aura—the woman examined it up and down. Though she'd seen them before, she'd apparently never eaten one. It looked pretty good, didn't it?
For a race like the Demons, who devoured raw flesh and blood, they typically slaughtered prey and consumed it directly. In extreme cases, they'd even eat humans without any dietary restrictions.
"Illusion uses all kinds of beautiful things you've seen or never seen—anything the caster believes will captivate you—to deceive and immerse you in the illusion. What you need is to resist that temptation with your own willpower."
Fingal watched as Aura took a fierce bite of the apple, a strange expression crossing her face—likely because she had never tasted one before.
[Triggered... Entry: Mild Enhancement of Appetite]
[Effect Activated.]
"An apple? It tastes a bit odd... From now on, prepare apples for me every day, Fingal."
"Oh, and you mentioned resisting temptation? Go on, how do I break free from the illusion?"
Aura pursed her lips, seeming rather pleased with the flavor.
It was far better than the wild fruits she casually picked by the roadside—plumper and juicier... Did humans create this? Could this magic-less, useless race be more useful than she imagined?
The Demons—they lacked any concept of culture, mostly obsessed with their own magic like recluses, and had no appreciation for delicacies like this. Even if most of them tried such food, they wouldn't show much interest.
"I'm not saying your will isn't strong enough—you understand, but I believe even you must have some temptation that appeals to you. What we need to do is identify it and help you adapt to it, desensitize you."
An interesting idea.
Aura nodded, intrigued—could breaking the limitations of magic really be approached from this angle? It made sense. For instance, hadn't her Scales of Obedience produced an oddity like Fingal? To this day, she still found it somewhat unbelievable that such a peculiar slave could exist.
"Continue."
Aura took two more bites of the apple, tossed it to the ground with a thud, and reached for a new one, making passersby wince in pity at the waste.
Given Fingal's warrior attire, no one dared to cause trouble.
What Fingal failed to notice, however, were the shady figures already eyeing these two richly dressed men accompanied by a beautiful woman—especially when they observed Aura's flawless, delicate skin that clearly hadn't known manual labor, suggesting she was no ordinary person.
"For me, it's exquisite food, the most luxurious clothes, the most beautiful women, endless wealth, and supreme power—if you made me face such things, I'm afraid I'd be lost in dreams forever."
Fingal's expression darkened tactically, his tone cold and murderous, as if recalling beautiful things he had never attained.
Some old-timers out of touch with the times would say that if it weren't for too much gaming, their children would have gotten into MIT or Stanford University, that nearsightedness was caused by games, and that they managed just fine eating rice in their day—so why are there so many problematic children now?
In reality, in that prosperous, rapidly developing era, temptations were everywhere. Facing the lavish lifestyles of peers—living in mansions, driving luxury cars, sleeping with celebrities—who wouldn't fantasize?
But... thankfully, everything could start over!
All thanks to his Hypnotism!
He gazed at the Smart Hypnosis Phone hovering in the air, then stared unabashedly at Aura, adopting an expression true to his character.
Boldly grazing Aura's breasts, he swallowed hard.
[Aura is puzzled by your behavior.]
[New Entry unlocked: Slight Enhancement of Gluttony.]
"What a pathetic creature."
Aura sneered twice, indifferent to Fingal's gaze. She didn't care—the Demons had no concept of moral shame.
Humans were ultimately creatures who couldn't resist base temptations.
If it were her, how could she ever succumb to such addictions?
